bricki123
i agree this is no UCS. its a nice starting point for mocs... a wall here, some ground there... and you have a complete hoth base. BUT lego could do this with 3-4 smaller sets needs no UCS and 300$ for this. many minifigs but for investor not interesting overall.

Val-E
11 pages of debate and the set hasn´t been shown yet - I guess that proves SW has still got it. It won´t need to score a home run to be a winner as SW Lego fans have been starved of large sets for almost a year now.

From what I've read, most I see are negative comments towards this set .... Not seeing much debate at all ... And definitely not seeing love from most SW Lego fans .... By the way, I saw this on Reddit by someone saying that this is going to be the upcoming Death Star set ... Selling for $300 ~~~ LOL Edited February 13, 2016 by ad2001

biniou
I'm glad because in comparison all the retired sets standing on my shelves will seem to be deals, even at x2 RRP.

Yes, especially all newbie investors should store up on "Assault on Hoth" Everybody should at least have 20 or better 50. THIS is the next big sleeper - because everybody hates it and no one of the "old guys" will be buying or even hoarding it. This is your big chance as newcomers to earn big time! 3-5x RRP within a year after EOL seems within reach... (whispering to self: "that should do"...)
Anakin_Skywalker
It is a UCS......it really isn't a debate. Agree with Stephen...it IS indeed a UCS, the debate here is WHY this set belongs to the same luxury category of 10179 and co. Maybe UCS stamp value has been diluted over time... One Big thing. Nothing in this new "UCS"-Set is unique or big. Maybe a minifig but IMHO this is not enough. With this Hoth Echo Base they bundled some small sets together, put the UCS-sticker on it and expect 300$. Whats the next? Cantina + Rancor Pit "UCS"? Edited February 13, 2016 by bricki123 . Then people will have more entry points to complete parts of their collections. They should only give it other names than "Ultimate whatsoever", then in the end no one will ask, why a spcecific set is in that sub-series. For NBA Trading Card subsets you also sometimes got an Eric Montross next to Grant Hill and no one was wondering. "It's a given subset, man. There is no "why"!..." citymorgue
I've said a couple of times that a lot of sets get a lot of hate before they are even released, then people fall in love with them afterwards, but I'm really struggling to find much redeeming value here. Like I said, I'll probably buy it, only because I would love to have a wampa, and taun-taun, but let's be honest, it's not the best showing from Lego that's for sure. Well, that just means I can save my money for the other good sets coming out this year.

Popular Post Ed Mack
I have been busy at work, so I haven't really had the time to discuss this set. I have thought about it more and this set in particular really disturbs me. The one thing that has driven the LEGO secondary market for years are sets geared towards the adult collector. The nonsense I read above from a LEGO rep talking about "LEGO sets need to be played with" is just dumb. They are all played with...aren't they? The large display models don't come assembled, do they? If you want to destroy the LEGO company, just go back to the dull set designs of the 80s and 90s that were based on "play." The company almost went bankrupt releasing the same retreads over and over again. This set is an example of laziness. It has been redone in smaller sets dozens of times. Enough. It is nowhere close to the old UCS standards, the same standards that helped bring LEGO out of its financial and creative hole. If the new standard of a UCS set is brick count, we are all in trouble. LEGO is messing with the flagship theme of LEGO with uninspiring sets like this. Even the rumored reissue of the Snowspeeder hurts the theme. You are telling me they have run out of ideas and have to remake another UCS set? Maybe this is a one time deal. Maybe the up and coming UCS sets will meet the previous standards. The recent Slave I and TIE Fighter were excellent sets. But if we start getting more of these large retreads based around "play" then lookout. The Ultimate Collector Series will no longer be "ultimate" as a collectible or even as a LEGO set.

This thing needs to be twitted, shared and liked on every social network there is. Once people from all over the world shove it down their throat with bad publicity, they may come to their senses and start giving us sets that deserve to be called UCS. What a ripoff, shame on you TLG!
marcandre
They just need to take the UCS tag off of it. It's a great playset for kids but not for adults at all. If Ewok Village is not deserving of the tag neither is this.

Mos_Eisley
This set wouldn't get nearly the hate if it cost $200 and didn't have the UCS label. If the person writing the set description has spent any time building at all, they had to be laughing the whole time they wrote it.
