Morning all. Bit of advice required - particularly from my UK brothers.. I have sold a set on eBay, for the first time to somebody with zero feedback. I know we all have to start somewhere and I was there once etc, but the username is generic and I am a little wary. Maybe because I have read so many stories here. I have emailed the buyer to at least confirm the address and he has replied. It is in the UK. Are there any other tips or safeguarding which could help in the event that the buyer mugs me off? Grateful as always.

Exactly. I might be missing a trick here, but I don’t see the appeal of the promo being an incentive to pay RRP. It’s illogical. Apparently diagon alley is now available in stores at £18.99. The dog which was free last year is still available at £6.99. Nutcracker up until recently was available, I brought 20 at about £8. The pig will be in the same boat. Dont get me wrong, with some sets I get paying RRP and it may be needed. But I would wait for one of those times when offers are stacked. Having brought from sah before with two freebies, AND double VIP, I wouldn’t be buying say for example speed champions sets now, with the rest of the year at least to go.
-
And do we know the Santa brickhead is definitely retiring? I was told by SAH a few weeks ago that the licensed brick heads were all being retired, but we could expect ones like this, seasonal etc to be sticking around and there were no plans to do away with them altogether.

I sold my stash of catamarans a few months back, buy in had been £27.50 each though - I wouldn’t buy them again now at half price.

A single 41621 Weasley / Dumbledore BrickHeadz, at £14.97 just for interests sake after all the hype and enthusiasm on here. The only one with a mint box, the other two were not perfect so passed. There were 41616 Hermione Graingers, 18 of them mostly in mint boxes. £6.97 each, but I passed completely. Alarm bells ringing with there being so many left and eBay sold prices aren’t suggesting this one may be as good. I was never getting into the theme much as my rule one for buying is I need to like it.. and I don’t!

Really?
-
No retirement in sight yet. I don’t think it will go below 50% either but there is time for it to get closer. All my recent elves purchases from Argos have been mint by the way ??

I agree, this is not likely to be one of the better performing in the wave.. In other news, I’m surprised that the green Mech dragon 70612 is still in stock at amazon for that price, when they were 40% off before they were wiped out straight away. I’m still holding out for 50% - especially now.

I passed on loads of these at £14. Tabby and who knows how many other people got them while they were in stock online from asda at £10.50.
-
Exactly! Half price will come.

UCS Millennium Falcon Exclusive Black VIP Card Perks & Benefits

I have one of these. Sold prices are consistently very high indeed. I thought this might be down to initial craze, but now I'm not so sure. I'm not needing or necessarily wanting to flip it straight away for a quick £100 and shoot myself in the foot. Some of these VIP exclusive sets have done ridiculously well in the past and if there aren't tens of thousands of these out there then this will be worth an absolute mint in a few years. Does anybody know how many of these have actually been produced as I can't find a record of it anywhere? -
Arm swept the half price 41153 Disney Ariel’s royal celebration boat at tesco earlier, £22.50 a piece. Left quite a few other half price sets though. Walking down another random aisle on the way out I saw a 21030 capitol building randomly by itself in a creased box. I took pity so scooped it up and scanned it - at £40. Quick chat with cs took another 10% off so I got it for £36.
-
There’s money in that, I saw it earlier on - but I passed for now, gut says after the success of the last jw stuff this will be hoarded. If it comes down a bit more to half price I’ll likely bite.

Got the bat-pod 5004590 finished. A really clever build in some parts, and looks so much bigger and better in person than in the photos and reviews. Great set. ?
-
Been slowly getting the parts for the 5004590 bat-pod, which is now complete. I reckon it stands me in about £65 so am gonna build and display it for a while before shifting on as a complete set. Not a batman fan as such, but i must say I’ve been looking forward to having these last few bits - and if I can build something and double my cost what’s not to like!

Does anybody know if the seasonal promo nutcracker from 2017 is likely to be retired this time around? -

What do the uk contingent here think this will be worth to sell on? There’s not much to buy from sah but as it will stack with the carousel and double points.. obv it won’t be a big Star Wars buy, but a key ring to finish the order. -
it was 0525, someone on hukd has spoke with lego cs who said orders would all be cancelled and it was an error. I got a couple of orders in just in case but of course have no chance. code doesn't work anymore either.

Alas I don’t believe this would happen, as I posted in another thread earlier - There was a suggestion on the EBay Argos store you could order multiples to one store to pick up, and the system was allowing you right through to pay. But it is nonsense and won’t work for sure. It was letting me add 10 for collection up the road within the hour, but there wasn’t ten in stock in the country according to the Argos website. They could have flown them down from Scotland, but I thought that unlikely. Obviously a glitch with their Ebay system.
-
No change there im afraid. When these things go on sale you are resigned to clicking and collecting the stock at each individual store. I’ve moved and now got a couple of Argos and Sainsbury collection points really close - and on top of that working in staines I have an Argos in the town and another Sainsburys literally on the way home. So I seem to have been a bit luckier than most for finding stock. I’ve been lucky for a while now, the Argos elves sets from yesterday were all in mint condition, only had the barcode sticker on one but it came off easily by peeling it slowly. Asda have been excellent, and amazon as always. But top prize to LEGO for my 10242 which were two to a case within another huge box. They sent me a boost your vehicles polybag set, which bizarrely came separately in a box about 2ft cubed with 6 air pockets chucked in - hardly the most efficient!
-
Cheers TB, one solitary copy in stock round the corner at Sainsburys and was going for some supplies anyway after work so will grab it from the argos counter for a quick crimbo flip. Should get £45-50 after fees and a little bit of cashback.
-
I’m 100% I could make a profit on a £130 42056. Sold prices on eBay make this quite obvious. But it was an easy pass for me, as it will be a relatively small profit after fees etc compared to the size of the thing. I’d be making as much per unit as I did on pirate coasters, which are much easier to ship, take up far less space, and buyers have been less precious about in terms of box condition etc. I agree with Tabby, 42056 has been coming down and down.. and down.. in price and in the new year when people have cottoned onto the new Porsche coming out I reckon there will be £100-£110 deals on it to be had. Then, I’ll be buying.
