Curious if anyone did the HH swap? It would be worth over $3500 right now and is growing at a ridiculous clip. I still believe in this as a long term play and will continue to hold, even if it continues to spike or reverses. -
It helps those already holding because their price is still fixed while the new seller's price has gone up. It they are buying after retirement they are likely paying over MSRP while you likely paid less than or equal to MSRP, so the delta in your price and their price is basically your competitive edge. Note that this doesn't affect the supply or demand side, but it does affect the cost to acquire and ultimately the price at which the new seller will sell. Edit Forgot another thing it does - It culls the cheapest inventory and should ultimately drive the price up.

Resellers buying from resellers is the best outcome once the supply is fixed. Supply remains unchanged, demand remains unchanged, and the minimum price to break even has increased.

Retired Product Update Thread (2014-2017)

2014 was a crazy year. Who can forget the weekend of July 4th when Target was selling one dollar for eighty seventy five cents? And May 12th, Cory Day! -
This weekend: Sungnyemun, Pisa, Imperial Hotel, Brick Bank, GB HQ

Plot twist: Stephen is the wife. -
Microfighters series 1 & 2. Fantastic little builds. Sydney Opera House (small) Big Ben Villa Savoye - this should be a real winner post EOL

SSD. Bought this a few years ago assembled. I broke it down into 5x 1 gallon bags and have been dreading the build due to no baggies and the number of parts. I was so wrong. Very easy build from a big pile with a little pre-organization. I was a little sad when I finished...except for the big daddy pipe dream, I doubt I can find a build I will enjoy more. It's an absolute stunner of a display model too.

Modular houses - building tips & inspirations
tonysbricks replied to TheOrcKing's topic in Building LEGO
Made this this morning. I am sure it's been done before but I wanted to try it myself and with only things I had on hand. The only goal was to fit the Haunted House onto the modular footprint without changing the HH. I used 16x32 baseplate and 4 8x16 baseplates so it still opens up. I did not use any new parts so it had an older look and love the differing shades of tiles I was able to find. The last image shows the placement and my original plan. I had to improvise due to colors on hand but wanted to post this in case others wanted to do their own. The black is the HH house, gate, and 2 bushes so you basically have to fill in the rest. I placed it next to PS so the back door was completely unobstructed. Next to GG, FB, and DO would also work. Edit: forgot to mention, I did have to commit the unholiest of unholy acts and cut a single stud (8A) out of the back left baseplate so it could open up. 9A is not covered with a tile due to the hinge. As you can see I used green baseplates. I realized at the end I should have used gray due to the inside having an exposed floor. I may go back in and tile the inside floor to make it more modular, but since it will likely never be opened it's not a priority. http://imgur.com/a/EQ1lX -
And finally, Green Grocer. The modular collection is complete!

STAR WARS VII - "The Force Awakens" - Movie Discussion
tonysbricks replied to gregpj's topic in Star Wars Sets
I am not reading this thread (and avoiding all spoilers I can) but be aware: last night I was browsing a game forum (zombie game, not SW or spaceships or scifi) on steam and someone posted an article AND changed their username to spoil what I assume is a major plot point. Be careful out there. -
This is 100% false. I am not going to debate it again, but it doesn't work in the real world and it didn't work on diablo2112's lab-constructed example either due to VIP's being required to be redeemed in $5 chunks (a technicality, but still valid). Bottom line, if you use VIP during 2x VIP you are throwing away money. I'm out.

10228 Haunted House. The build was just OK for me but the finished product looks great!

The most entertaining 10 minutes of my day were spent going into my gmail trash and searching for "Jurassic fossilrock". Some absolute comedy gold in there, my personal favorite where he called the non-believers in his cult of early retirement a bunch of "Christian Scientists". mscheaf has some new competition.

I am afraid there are delusions of grandeur if people think a couple individuals talking about price matching on a forum is price collusion. -
Confirming that FB retail was $150 and a lot of people got theirs on Amazon for $119. Paying $215:
