Bricklink/BrickOwl - Discussion, questions, & answers
Anomander replied to chinothegeeko's topic in Other LEGO Marketplaces
Thanks. This is their Terms on their Bricklink: I'm wondering how do you place an order if proceeding with the checkout process only leads to PalPal payment? You say you send invoices as you haven't direct payment set up on your shop. How can you see orders? Do buyers fill their cart and message you or does Bricklink have another mechanism for invoices or is it done by private messages once the buyer fills their cart? -
Bricklink/BrickOwl - Discussion, questions, & answers

My first time using Bricklink trying to buy a few bits. The seller states in their Terms that the only way they want to be paid by PayPal is by them issuing an invoice via PayPal. I filled my shopping cart, picked a shipping method and chose PayPal. This then brings me into PayPal and their proceed to payment - no automatic invoice! I sent the seller a message asking them to send an invoice several days ago but no response. I left my shopping cart full on their Bricklink store page. Can they see my order from that? Is sending a message standard when the seller only wants to be paid by invoice? Am I missing something with PayPal. How else can a seller know an order is placed if you don't complete the PayPal payment? -

Ideas #017: 21309/92176 - NASA Apollo Saturn V
Anomander replied to exciter1's topic in LEGO IDEAS / CUUSOO
We've seen that TLG like to keep their moneyspinners in production a looooong time. TB, DS, T1 ect. As a new move, they also seem to strategically combat the reseller market with their own trgeting of remakes of sets that have been investment superstars. Retireing this soon would seem to go against these grains of what TLG are all about. Why would they cut off a robust revenue stream and tee up the reseller scum for a windfall? Anathema to the Bilund brigade. -
When you part it out do you apply the stickers to the bricks, or cut them out of their sheet to include with each relavant build, or keep the whole sheet intact and sell that separately?

Minifigure Identification & Valuation Thread
Anomander replied to Fcbarcelona101's question in Name That Brick
Thanks Phil. I'm not big on minifigs outside Star Wars and only collect SW, Technic, Ideas & some Creator themes. TBH I didn't even know what themes/years these were from or where to begin looking. Thanks for taking the time. Wow. Appreciate your efforts, dude! Edit: That's a great resource on Brickset for looking up minifigs. Did'nt know it existed. The way it's laid out is handier than navigating through Bricklink's minifigures menus. Top notch. -
Minifigure Identification & Valuation Thread

Any help with these, please? Most likely some are missing accessories such as headgear making them more difficult to identify, -
Hi Henry. According to The Crystal Ball Fiscal Times investment section the market forecast to reach that point is approximately by December 2024. Maybe. You need to: 1)stop buying any LEGO for investiments immediately 2) read this site a whole lot more 3) start tracking prices of retired sets on ebay (you're not able to sell LEGO on Amazon if you're not grandfathered in already 4) ignore the hype of any LEGO better than gold for investment viral internet articals that are the result of lazy e-journalists and gullible readers before you can realise that believing such a question is in any way tangeable to any known reality is the reason why LEGO investing is on a downward trajectory for most people that are not clued in, and also for many who are.

What does 'Multi Coloured' mean when written after the name of ome sets on the Amazon UK list deals above? Is it code that private sellers use to denote the set isn't in new condition?

Retiring Soon - open speculation
Anomander replied to Quacs's topic in LEGO Set Retirement / End of Life (EOL)
It would make no sense whatsoever as retirements for many sets are usually so closely scheduled in both regions it is advantagous for the region that experiences the retirements after the other to be forewarned This post strikes me more as an effort at trying to shut down the everything-is-not-awesome banter that has developed as a result of LEGO's recent stratagies of ramping up production & prices and lazy remakes, which thwarts resellers' cozy plans. A prudish US cyber-wall to exclude outsiders in order to make Brickpicker great again, if you will. There is a clear difference between American and European culture in their sensitvity to negativity in general. A determination for everything to be able to turn out to be a winner if only steadfast super posititivey is employed isn't natural to the European psyche. A more blackish humour is the norm in general. The difference is usually very noticeable in comedy movies where the hapless main character suceeds with happy endings, whereas often the European movies the hapless protagonist remains in their hapless existence, serving as the butt of laughs. This aversion to anything smelling of a negative attitude is commonly observed on this site. Positive forecasts of future performance of sets based usually on nothing more than wishful thinking are deluged with 'likes' from US members, whereas ones speculating everything might not be so rosy rarely receive anywhere near the same plaudits, even when couched in wit. It's clear those 'bashing' LEGO love the product itself and the 'distasteful criticism' is merely ribald humour at LEGO's clear efforts to ignore AFOL's wishes and deliberate shift in policy to combat resellers. Appointing oneself as czar for what is and isn't good for the readers of this site is more distastful, IMO. -
Don't get me wrong,I believe it will increase in price. The skyrocket's the limit is blithely ignoring the fact that this might be one of the most stockpiled sets yet. I will be delighted if this thing develops otherwise.
-
It's way easier to ship, but way easier to buy also. I have a few but don't expect any skyrocketing.
-
Why? Great looking popular sets don't skyrocket if there are huge numbers of them available from resellers. The Tumbler still hasn't skyrocketed a year on and it was 4 times more expensive to stockpile per set at RRP. Great sets aren't exempt to the laws of supply and demand just because they are great sets.

https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?S=76023-1#T=P As I understand it they are the number of sets listed. I am open to correction, however. Why "listed" and not listed?

38 new Turdlers sold in €'s over the last 6 months on Bricklink. Only 211 currently listed. At that rate just over two and a half years to clear that lot excluding those who tire of waiting and list theirs. US looks better 65 sold in the last 6 months and 158 currently listed. Under a year and a half to clear! UK - 3 sold in 6 months with 18 currently listed. 3 year wait for Eng-erland & co. to soak those up.
