I really hope someone may be able to give me some ideas on what to do. I sold a Disney castle used for $400. I shipped it last week and put signature on it. The person never signed for it my tracking alert shows and now it’s showing it is going to the mail recovery center? I don’t know why. My return address is printed on the box. Post office hold is over 1 hour and I filed a claim online. Any other tips on what to do? I tried calling the person and she said the post never even tried to deliver even though it shows they did on their app (does not mean much likely)

Retiring Soon - open speculation
Salimr replied to Quacs's topic in LEGO Set Retirement / End of Life (EOL)
I’m not sure still they will retire the Harry Potter castle this year. The new set will attach to this, so why retire it when it will keep selling well? I have a store near me with 5 of these, maybe I’ll go pick them up.... just in case -

Just made our donation. Sorry its so late and not as much as most years, but I am super happy to help out. Im also happy your family found such a great school. We are blessed to be able to send our kids to an excellent school also (I work there, so we are able to though) -
Quarantine Trends - LEGO Online Selling Prices

We had the same problem buying a basketball hoop (I just got the more expensive one, which is what I wanted anyway) and a sewing machine. It is like this for everything. My friend said bikes were sold out when she went to get one also. by the way the chrome books are highly used in schools, so all the students needed them. I teach and have all my assignments set up for google doc submission which is perfect for the inexpensive chrome book. Most schools will issue them at 1 per family which is not enough. -

I listed it thanks. I like money, and It did not really fit my lego display themes anyway. Plus I never hated a vacation more than our family’s nightmare trip to Disney haha. -
Quarantine Trends - LEGO Online Selling Prices

I picked up a Disney castle 71040 a week Ago for my kids with a lot of lego we bought for $200. I checked recent used ebay sales on the set and it’s selling just under $500. I can’t decide if I should sell it or keep it due to these crazy prices. After my fees and shipping it will still be the same price as buying it new with tax, so I’m thinking no, but my husband says sell it and hope we find One another day. (It’s not a must have for me as it does not fit our display well) what do you think with these crazy prices? -
They may not retire any of the three this year. If they are selling well they can leave them also. I believe there have been years where no modular retired in the past.
-
Not even close to how neat most of your modular buildings are, but my daughter and I built this out of multiple daily bugles that kept falling apart and are really proud of it

Pop-up shops - best practice and learnings
Salimr replied to MrSam's topic in General Buying & Selling
I know it does not compare to the amazing set ups shown but my daughter made this as she wanted to try to sell some extra figures she had at an open market. We had tons of fun and actually had profit after spending too much money there during the day. We will go back in the future and use the ideas shown in this thread.- 11 replies

One of the first bulk lots I bought was a bunch of modular buildings and my entire truck bed full of sets for $500 all smelled of smoke and had spilt soda on them. I washed them in vinegar took photos and listed what I did not want, took them apart and washed in vinegar again and had no more smell. i washed the sets I kept and rebuilt them and have never had an issue. Works for dog hair also. worst I ever had in a bulk lot was roach pop and bed bugs, that I left outside and a ironically it got stollen. I was going to throw them away but it is really funny the thief stole themselves bed bugs which will cost a lot to remove

I can verify that also. I have had many go to a shipper in Oregon for Asia buyers. They are great to deal with. I once sent 2 sets there by mistake and the set was very expensive (original lego fort new in box) they mailed back the expensive set when I let them know what happened. I ended up giving them their set around $50 free as I was so amazed they mailed it back and within 3 days in the exact condition it was mailed in.

I get the same message. I’m using my iPhone. I have been able to see the list in the past but not for the last few days.

I really can’t think of many toys or collectors items that could be worse to buy than the about $150.00 this will cost. It would be awful to build as it’s all one color, although I feel the same about most Star Wars ships and I can invision my son putting this on his hand and swinging it around and playing 1,800 plus pick up with the pieces. (He does not swing around sets, but the way this looks like it fits a hand I’m sure he would)

I built some old Harry Potter sets out of a lot I bought awhile ago and completely forgot about. It has kept us busy over winter break. I also built the 1 left brick head of harry I had to look all over Houston for.
-
No wonder there is nothing in houston. I managed to get a Barnes and noble employee to get 1 Harry Potter brick head and was happy with that
-
Has anyone tried the Houston store to see if they let you stack promos? They usually are nice with those type of things, but thought I would save a trip if anyone already tried
-
When I first saw this set I thought it was a layer that could fit in the Death Star. I don’t know tons about Star Wars so I mean by a design point.
-
My kids and I love Lego and Harry Potter. We even watched all the movies again while building the new sets a few days ago and none of us are impressed by this. My kids 8 and 11 both said not worth it within a second. My daughter has always picked winning sets also and not been interested in ones that don’t end up doing well, so I will always trust her opinion over any others I agree with tabby 6,000 pieces of this can’t be compared to other similar piece sized sets. It should be by weight. All these pieces are small. If I’m spending $400 this needs to be something my family can enjoy like the Disney castle.

LEGO PLUS+ Taj Mahal (feat. DUPLO) - DUPLO "Idea" succeeding THIS time?
Salimr replied to Frank Brickowski's topic in Duplo
I do not know many seniors here that have tons of expendable income. When I worked for the department of agriculture we actually had many seniors who ate pet food as they could not afford real food. I have read stats showing almost no one in the united has saved properly for retirement. I am not sure about the rest of the world. I know all my experience with seniors as they would much rather save their money or spend it on family members children's lego sets than their own sets. They really seem to think of others much more than themselves. My grandpa and his friends brag about how little they spend at bingo or dance night and laughed when I showed him this. He said if it cost more than his puzzles there was no way, but he is just one person. I think there could be some interest at nursing homes like puzzle tables or for therapy, but just have never met any senior citizen who I could see spending what this would cost for themselves. I really do like this though it is cool and I hope I'm wrong and it gets made and sells great! -
I sold enough of those stupid toys as a 9th grade student in high school to purchase my 1st car! Beats working fast food any day. My mom held all hers and is still donating them to local police stations and hospitals when they need.
-
Of course they do. My neighborhood has had many robberies even since flooding. I live in a nice neighborhood too. We just kick people while they are down here in Texas and our Lego Store is not even open to rob
-
We started to build all our random bad investments as we're in a suburb of Houston and stuck inside for at least the next 7 days of flooding:( we and neighbors are all safe at least. I wanted to go help out but can't drive even a mile to get to where help is needed. I guess it's good I had sets that stunk for investment so I do not feel bad opening them
-
I hope they bring back some of the old classic space sets or something similar
