Apologies if this has already been answered elsewhere - I did try search function, strangely nothing came up for "netbricks" (I haven't tried "Pley" yet. So those are services that rents out LEGO sets. I have dozens of Friends theme sets (used). All pieces are put back into ziplocks, and they then are put back into box among with instruction booklets (which I see is mentioned as a requirement on Netbricks). And the Netbricks FAQ also says I can ship my sets to them for free? I think this might be the way to go for me - anyone have good/bad experiences doing this? The reason why I'm considering this is I find putting sets up on auctions (taking photos, creating auctions, etc) is just too much work. So I decided to make an auctioned lot of about 35 Friend sets - according to Brickpicker pricing guide, using the "used" pricing, my collection is worth roughly $640. But I'm not even hitting 40% of that figure. And since most of the Brickpicker's "used" pricing for Friends sets are already under retail prices, it seems I would have made more if Netbricks bought those sets off me at 40% of retail price. Is my thinking sound? Yes I probably would make more money individually auctioning sets off one by one, but right now having free space in our house is much more valuable to me than making money.

Yeah, I'm not even gonna flip this one until after BWing retires. It'll definitely be higher than whatever ebay is selling those at, at the moment (which we all know is short-term downswing due to huge 50% sale and tons of ppl got those)
-
Many others beat me out on this, but my B-Wings's status changed to "shipped" as of yesterday! Woo! :-D And this was only like 10 minutes after midnight when I placed order at LEGO shop.. you guys must have been fast on the trigger (unless LEGO is using some weird priority order of whose order to ship first and not actually using First In, First Out order)
-
I was thinking this as well. Why wouldn't they just grab some photos from Brickset or do a a google image search. This is why I often include handwritten notepaper in front of whatever I'm selling when I'm taking a photo. Makes it much tougher for others to copy my image, but of course anyone with photoediting skills would be able to put in his own stuff over the notepaper, but honestly, would they really have the time to bother doing things like that? (hopefully not) edit: to clarify: the notepaper would show my ebay user id.

Still backordered for me, but not worried. I got the price I wanted The two other items (that came free w/the BWing order) is already on way, as I believe is for everyone else.

Smooshers, stop wasting your time!
cflannagan replied to tonysbricks's topic in General Collecting and Investing Forum
Yep, it's a waste of time. I had like 1 in 1,098,901,098,901 (1/16 to the 16th power) chance of getting 16 unique minifigs in a row and succeeded thrice (with Series 7, 8 and 9). I ought to start buying lotto tickets... ;) -
Lighten up a bit? Mmmkay? Let the moderators do the police work - if they think things are out of hand, they'll handle it in their own way, it's not your job to pounce on other members, especially when it's not really warranted for (like I said, it's not like things are even getting out of hand in the first place).

Hah, that MOC got that meme face nailed!

Do me a favor and not be so harsh on the newer members.......give people some time to figure out the forums, point them in the right direction. Not everything has to be an argument Agreed. I seem to remember a time (and honestly it wasn't even that long time ago) when there was no one who made backhanded, pointed comments at others and it seemed like such a nice place to hang out, but as often is the case in any other forums out there, things like that could change in a hurry with a few sour apples coming into the picture. Take it easy on the newer members, especially on forums like those. It's *not* like we have hundreds of new posts coming in daily to a point where it's an unmanageable mess.

Mine says the same thing as well. And this is my first-ever LEGO.com order (signed up for VIP program minutes before buying 2 B-Wings). Sort of a relief to see it's not just me seeing the same thing, but I hope we all do get ours (B-Wings) one way or other. :)

Biggest set of themes (ie: Summer Riding Camp) are often the best bet. Olivias House (2nd biggest set) will also probably do quite well after-market. Really, many Friends sets should appreciate nicely after retirement, only because it's a pretty popular/hot theme.
-
I think you need to lighten up a bit. Just buy a sealed box, get the 16 you need via smooshing, sell off the rest via ebay if you really are that concerned about germs. You can wear rubber gloves and still smoosh/feel as well. I see nothing immoral about it - it's akin to going to the grocery store and looking through the bunch and picking out only the freshest bananas. Not exactly the same analogy I know but still. Laws against smooshing, lol. Our government have far better things to worry about. And how would a law against smooshing be enforcable if it happens at home?

Parting out a set is more annoying then I thought
cflannagan replied to legomylego's topic in eBay Marketplace
Can't think of anything - I would never part it out but that's a matter of personal preference.. I just find it too much work to separate everything into piles - unless, of course, I'm building it, LOL. Why don't you just sell them as-is, without parting it out? Or no profit to be made that way? -

I have to admit I'm a bit confused by this thread. You said you bought 80 of a set, none of them with instruction booklets, so you decide to part it out to make money, found it to be PITA? Is there a question or "the point" somewhere? -
It seems that lately Amazon has vastly improved their shipping methods as far as LEGO "big sets" are concerned. Got 4 sets so far from them (separate shipments), all in excellent condition. But of course YMMV.
-
In a very short period of time, I've went from novice with zero smooshing knowledge, to a confident smoosher. It all began with buying Series 7 sealed box from recent LEGOLand trip.. it was tedious process at first.. but over a course of a day, I eventually identified all 16 minifigs in that series correctly, with no mistakes (no dupes opened). Then I saw Series 8 at Walmart the other day, I bought all of them, "smooshed" for 16 new ones as well, over a course of a few hours. Much better/quicker at it now. Returned the unopened packs for money back. So it's like I bought 16 minifigs at retail price!

Scam. Seller has exactly 8 feedback. Stay AWAY! Try to stick to sellers with more than 90, and for some expensive thing like this, I would shoot for 300+. Strongly disagree.
-
Came here to announce this, already beaten me to it. Zoolert alerted me to my target Amazon price.
-
Based on what Ed said (which I just learned, didn't know before) - it wouldn't make a difference for pricing. 100 pieces vs 1 big piece, if they create the same shape, will cost the same because it's still based on weight. Unless your concern is that it take far longer to build that shape using 100 pieces instead of one big piece, which in that case I agree but I don't mind.. I like the building process that is the lure of LEGO in general. ;)

The $25 Ninjago "test" will tell you nothing. What's to stop them from selling and sending you a Ninjago set legitimately, hoping to lure you in (by earning your trust from the successful "$25 test") and zeroing in for a kill with $500 for Falcon (or whatever the scam is)? No. Don't even do a $25 test with that one.

The Duplo comment was a joke (I think, lol.. pretty sure it is). And as for looking at sold listings and looking at each sale individually - that is quite an amount of work to do for each set I own, so this is precisely why I use BP data. I sure ain't gonna look at multiple sold listings and update my investments when BP can do it for me. Sure, I do still check ebay sold listings, but only as a sanity check.
-
But then again, data could get screwed up with some sellers offering Free Shipping and some charging $15 shipping.that is one of the reasons the price in the price guide doesn't include shipping........every seller charges different prices to ship. Yep - shipping costs will screw with the price, but this is basically a wash anyway, since free shipping means higher final price, and shipping cost means lower final price.. they'll average out.
-
According to most recent sales for new in box as well as used, those BP values looks "roughly" correct, especially when looking at last 30 sales. Might be revised upwards or downwards in a few days - this data is updated once monthly. What this tells me: $799 Amazon price is overpriced, based on last 30 auction sales. $500 on ebay, I would pass over and wait for someone else to list it lower, unless there is a major upward movement and people today would truly snap those up at that price, but I doubt it.
