Retiring Soon - open speculation

Sold a few Friends The Apartment this week for £250. Buy in at £128. Wish I had bought more. Was going to hold for a longer flip , but not sure if when recent events related to show subside interest will still be there. Central Perk took ages to see any decent returns -

On a positive note… I have a lot of time for the shared wisdom and opinions of this and other forums on BP. Whilst I haven’t always followed conventional wisdom, we all make our own investment decisions, enjoy the successes and kick ourselves over the ‘failures’. I have leaned a lot from what people share here on a regular basis. I am never going to be a huge player in this market. For me it’s a hobby I enjoy, and a small £15k turnover pa, side hustle that keeps my enjoyment of buying and selling LEGO. -

This set has never been a strong contender for me. High price point, rarely reduced in UK, 2 average mini-figs. Boba Fett’s helmet and Mandalorian Forge are my picks. -

I think it is following the usual LEGO pandemic - TOOS, retires quietly in background while no one notices effect. That seems to be commonplace at moment. I have only seen a few sets that went TOOS return to any kind of full availability this year. All UK retailers have zero stock , or it is listed as ‘no longer available’ which is pretty much saying , we are not getting it back from past experience. -

I am trying with great difficulty to not spend anymore on large LEGO sets this close to Xmas, but The Titanic set and USC AT AT if it appears, are 8.00am first day purchases for me. Sadly, blown most of my VIP points a few weeks ago on another T Rex set. Just hoping the Titanic has a decent GWP. I am going to guess it will sell out first day like 75192 and prob not be back in stock for a while this side of Xmas. May do a quick flip and buy another when it restocks. -
Reminds me of the same process used on Star Trek - sling-shotting around the Sun to time travel back to the past/into the future

I spent 3 weeks trying to obtain the Ironman Hall of Armour that was on offer in September. Supposedly in stock. Placed order, and it didnt ship for 2 weeks. Spoke to CC on Twitter etc, they were as helpful as a bag of hedgehogs. Eventually they admitted it was a pre-order and they didnt have the stock. After a good initial service from them, I wont be using again.

Sold my 10123 Cloud City for £2K. Bought 2 years ago for £1K. Shame to let it go , but wanted to free up some cash flow for future purchases.Had to make a wooden shipping case for it though as no-one could make an acrylic case for under £140 in UK to use in packing process. -
Ebay has been dead this week, but its close to pay day and usually picks up on weekend before end of month, I hope.
-
Random question, but does anyone know why the 'Sale' function on LEGO UK site is not showing any products at moment?
-
I only buy sets to split from Argos , because of the damage caused in their stockrooms .But, on another note, Amazon seem to have upped their game on packaging. 90% of sets I receive are crease and damage free lately.
-
Totally agree with Argos, bought a Jurassic T Rex, box was appalling. Refunded before I left shop. Shame as it was £50 off
-
Not bought anything from Amazon eu for a few weeks now. It took a few days longer with Prime, but I must admit I was impressed their packing lasted through to UK without damage .
-
Managed to get one from LEGO too with GWP luckily
-
I'm just trying to replace my Razorcrest that I let go before xmas at £100 profit. In stock for 5 mins at a time. frustrating
-
according TO BRICKSET, these were available as GWP online on LEGO EU. with a 75 EURO spend. I tried ordering various HP products at LEGO sites in the EU over weekend, and this did not come up in basket. I eventually paid £72 for one from a UK seller who had sold 25 already. Not sure where he sourced his from.

Quarantine Trends - LEGO Online Selling Prices
Justy6969 replied to dennugsmello's topic in General Buying & Selling
Here in Europe it is interesting times. My ebay sales ,are nearly at pre-xmas levels in terms of intensity, and I have been thankful to get rid of a few pieces of inventory that have been hanging around for a while. The May 4th promo , was the worst I have seen in terms of LEGO inventory in the UK for such a large event. No reduction on the usual sets - X-wing etc , but the poorer selling lines they need to get rid of, and coming-up to retirement. Even the GWP Death Star II sold out by Saturday evening here, where you can usually pick one up on last day of promo on most events. Other online retailers - Amazon etc are being less generous in terms of set discounts to protect margin. Even supermarkets which used to be a good hunting ground for EOL or mid season range reductions are selling most sets at full price. One wonders if even LEGO group, is now struggling to maintain its inventory, with supplier closures and delays in production, which must hit them at some point even if its for the raw material they use. The true measure to my business in these difficult times, will be late June and July, when I am expecting a dip in sales mainly from running out of some inventory. Those who have been furloughed will return to work, perhaps with an uncertain future in some industries, and watching the purse strings a little more closely. Despite being at home during the past 6 weeks, they may be a little less reluctant to spend out on 'boredom relief'. Its going to be a while , before all the World economies have adjusted to the new 'norm' in everything .Hopefully, it will recover enough by Xmas to be able to take advantage of a good Q4.
