  2. Glad that we are on the same page and for the most part I agree with you, just not with at least one other member asking for 15% reductions. I'm glad you brought that set up actually (10224), because the listing you are referring to: 181890498736 is actually used. Part of it was built before and therefore it is not comparable to a fully sealed set. I think we all need to be careful with what listings are being used for automatic comparison, as well as any well meaning price policing call outs (no offense) that we are truly using apples to apples examples. Thanks.
  3. I think you may have misunderstood me. I was referring to the sellers on other sites. In other words, the lowest price on another site isn't necessarily apples to apples when taking into consideration other factors. Sold prices and trends should be considered more IMO. And using SSD as an example, that trend is up. If we are agreeing that selling here minus part or all of the selling fees from another site is appropriate, we are on the same page. People demanding something be sold even lower than that aren't making sense to me though.
  4. Ebay fees are 10% of the sales price including shipping if you don't have a store. Not sure why anyone is suggesting a seller has to discount more than that since you still have to be paid via Paypal or similar so 3% fees for the payment method. I think it's fair to suggest that a seller sell below the average going rate on eBay. I don't think there is really any reason to be selling lower than the lowest price the set is offered everywhere. There are other things to consider besides the lowest BIN price for example: seller feedback, condition, whether there are stock photos or real ones, etc etc. My opinion is that there is a valid argument that by using some loss leaders, we can help the site gain exposure. Personally, I think that is something that should be worked out with a few larger sellers behind the scenes.
  5. I appreciate that its a work in progress. FYI, it's pulling in dissimilar listings too. For example, myself and another have set 10225 listed. Mine is open box sealed contents, theirs is sealed. It's pulling in an ebay ad that is used and has been built before. Just a heads up.
  6. Actually it was only minutes after so my take was that it was so I couldn't sell it to anyone else. I'm going to wait for him to lose interest before reposting.
  7. Sorry to bump an old thread, but wanted to notify you guys about this one that I hadn't seen before: Was selling a loose SSD on CL and got this: From: craigslist reply a27a [mailto:a27aa306454d343d88ee52effbb8915e@reply.craigslist.org] Sent: Sunday, November 30, 2014 5:04 AM To: Subject: Lego UCS Super Star Destroyer 100% Complete 10221 Star Wars will be back in town on monday after the thanksgiving holiday with my father, will be able to come and make payment once am back . i need ur cell # - lakeyjob619@gmail.com Sent from iPhone 6 Looked legit, but I should have checked his email online first. Turns out he is a known scammer and he replied with this: From: Lisaztl Raul [mailto:lin01204@gmail.com] Sent: Sunday, November 30, 2014 9:06 AM To: Subject: RE: Lego UCS Super Star Destroyer 100% Complete 10221 Star Wars Thanks for the response, actually now I'm not in town for now, I came to visit my father so i wont be able to meet with you but am ok with the price as seen on the advert, I'll proceed in issuing a Check out to you and when you received the check , I will make arrangement for pick-up. So get back to me with below details asap. Name: Address: City: State: Postal Code: Cell Phone Number: Agreed price to sell : once this is provided the payment will be overnight to you and i will let you know when its mailed out. I need you to be honest with the sale as I am a God fearing person. Thanks God Bless You He also flagged my post for removal so he must have a bunch of accounts. I reported him to US-CERT and the FBI since he seems to work in multiple areas. We used to joke on other forums that ending with "God Bless" was a sure sign of a scammer. The flagging thing was new for me though and ticks me off.
  8. Awesome. We will be there.
  9. Welcome. I too use ebay as a necessary evil and would replace them in a heartbeat with something else that got similar traffic and had lower fees. This site has been great so far.
  10. It's too bad ebay is more interested in upgrading subscriptions than on improving what they already have and more focused on getting a few cents per listing upfront rather than more $ later on with more (fixed) listings. It never ceases to amaze me how publicly trade companies can be so short term minded.
  11. Definite scam. I really wish someone would overtake CL and provide even a little better functionality. They just don't seem to care much about their format, users or content.
  12. We can't wait. My family Loved Batman 2 and Marvel Superheroes seems to be great so far too.
  13. I'm excited to see this. Thanks.
  14. Buying in bulk and finding/building the sets from that bulk is the best way to go I have found. If you can get it under $5-7 a pound in good condition you'll have a pretty easy time.
