  1. Good luck hitting x5 anytime soon lol... maybe an odd $5 set will do that, but anything over $100 no, seriously doubt it with today's environment.
  2. No kidding? Look at post #4.
  3. Interesting idea. However, given the secrecy aspect of investing I think most people would not speak out or participate, even if they do have an interest in socializing with other people who are interested in Lego. Maybe one day though we'll have a gathering.
  4. First, thanks for your reply. I feel that people are not understanding what I am saying. I don't understand why the responses so far are saying things like "so then this is not for you--use Amazon or Ebay." That type of answer tells me the reader did not grasp what I'm saying. It's not that I don't want to have lower fees (who doesn't?) or another avenue for selling (I definitely do want another option for selling) but that there is a major flaw to the concept. Think of this not as me saying "Don't do it!" but as someone calling out a very logical weakness in the design. If it goes ignored then I did my part and it's not my decision. But as a member I will at least let you guys know about it (and honestly, I'm surprised nobody even mentioned it). Also, couple things that struck me from your post: 1.The Bricklink community is largely for people in the Lego world to the Lego world. It is largely for parter outers to people buying items for MOCs. It is not really geared toward the primary market. Ebay and Amazon (and it sounds like this classified feature as well) is aimed at both the primary and secondary. My honest opinion but I don't think it's an apples to apples comparison to bring in Bricklink to the discussion if you are aiming toward the primary market. 2. Hoping for reasonable prices from BPers is going to be a bit optimistic I feel. Again, by nature this community is after profit maximization. Bricklinkers on the other hand mostly is for people who are Lego traders. Lego hobbyists. Bricklink sellers generally have relatively low prices. Can we expect people on this site to do the same? The future is unknown but there is reason to believe that that won't be happening. It's 2 different core audiences: Genuine lego hobbyists/MOCers vs people profiting on Lego. Will this distinction show in the prices? I think it will by nature. Fundamentally I firmly believe it is not a good idea to connect the classified feature, aimed at the primary market, to the Brickpicker forums. To me this is just a bad idea. You're assuming people will be ignorant and stay ignorant. If you connect them together they will find out what our purpose is and the type of sellers that post. I'm not sure how this is not a stumbling block. It is not that I don't want a classifieds feature--it's that the concept has a very obvious flaw. With that said, I think I will stay out of the discussion. Best of luck. My 2cents.
  5. Thanks for the answer, I appreciate it. Here is why I ask: I am very curious if the owners of this site thought this feature through and I'd like to hear their strategy with this. Not saying that as an insult but out of honest curiosity. At a very basic conceptual level I see problems with such a feature if it is aimed at the primary market and if it's linked to BP. To me if it is geared toward the primary market it would be very prudent to branch off and be independent from brickpicker. Why? Simply because the sole purpose of this site is for secondary market players to strategize and communicate Lego deals so that we can profit off primary market consumers. That is the sole purpose of this site. Collecting is a very remote second purpose overall. It is undoubtedly about maximizing $$$. You see it in nearly every post. One can sugarcoat it in a ton of different ways but it is what it is. If the classifieds feature is left attached to this site people will find out the purpose of the community and the type of people that are selling on the classifieds. Amazon and Ebay without a doubt have scalpers as well, sure. Of course they do. But their classifieds feature is a mix of scalpers and what I will call "legitimate sellers." They did not spawn from a $$$-driven community like us (we are almost 100% scalpers). Again, feel free to disagree on my description but it is what it is. If it's hard to understand why this is an issue I encourage you to think about it: Say you are interested in widget xyz. A site opens up that sells xyz products at largely inflated prices (this is what BPers do by nature, myself included). However, after creating an account and browsing the forum you see that the community is built on profiting on people like yourself. That is the sole purpose of the community. For me, I will do everything in my power to NOT buy it from this community unless I absolutely had to. Step back and think about this for a bit. It's not the same as Ebay or Amazon--there is a distinction. At the basic conceptual level I see issues. What's the strategy for this? Again, I am curious not trying to be rude.
  6. Basic question for whoever is willing to answer: Is this classified feature geared toward secondary market to secondary market (brickpicker to brickpicker) or is it aimed at the primary market (ebay alternative)? There is a huge difference which is why I ask. If it's the latter, is the feature going to be independent of brickpicker (standalone site) or connected?
  7. I think it's a very underwhelming set. Very unexciting.
  8. Good job man, and good tip.
  9. Yup. I'm surprised people on page 1-2 don't seem to know this. Look at the CMF line and compare it to other minifigs--are you telling me you can't tell there's a difference? There's a lot of info about the plastic differences on other forums--go look for it if you are in doubt.
  10. UCS auto sets: Lambo Aventador Porsche carrera UCS Tumbler Megaman series (not happening) Starcraft series (could be very, very popular) Twilight
  11. You're parting out. In that case it makes no difference to you. I do MISB. Are crushed boxes (and I mean crushed) an issue? It definitely is. They used an envelope. Imagine you jumping in the air and landing on a box. That's how bad it is I can't sell it like this. Coupon or not is not the point. The point is that regardless of the price paid, if you are selling goods you need to deliver it in good condition. This to me is common sense I'm not sure why you are suggesting that my complaint isn't valid. If Target has a 50% sale does that mean that they are justified to sell the boxes completely crushed? If you sell me a lego set at 50% your original price are you justified to sell me a completely crushed set although you advertised it as new? I think the answers are obvious.
  12. Kmart delivered another messed up box... this is getting annoying. I have 5 more items coming... great. It's getting to the point where I'm thinking about just going into the store with my online receipt, don't talk to anyone, swap sets, and walk out. Their customer service line is pretty damn busy and incompetent and it's best to avoid them if possible. Today when I exchanged my 3 boxes I don't think it would have mattered if I had just done the above. Same outcome with a lot of time saved. Kmart is a mess.
  13. You guys should see the boxes that came from Kmart.. sent in a padded envelope (bought small items). 3 of them are crushed and I have to exchange them. Great.
  14. I totally agree. It's an interesting figure but $75 to get a hold of one isn't hot given that the current SW offering as a whole is garbage. You're either going to spend on a bunch of small junk sets or go large on DS, Sand Crawler, SSD (if available), R2... i.e. buy junk sets or spend $$$$$$ to get this minifigure.
  15. I'm mixed on how this series will do. To me it's not so obvious. Simpsons is popular, no doubt about it, but this is the first time the CMF series deviates from the traditional lego molding by quite a bit. In addition, it's a deviation from the general theme and doesn't have the "general" pull as the minifigs are quite specialized. Not sure how AFOLs will react as a whole. There will be a strong initial demand which can create short term investing opportunities for small profits. But holding for long term I'm not so sure.
