A lot of cmf packs leftover in lego stores and legoland. It doesnt take a genius lego exec to realise the solution. Initially lego thought people will simply buy random packs until they hit a full set of 16. Then many people become rather proficient in feeling the packs, and end up shops have loads of unsold cmf packs.

So there should be nothing wrong with lego made in china, since the chinese have been able to produce far more advanced consumer products.

Amongst all the friends large sets, think only the dolphin cruiser is "complete" in that the structure is complete viewed from 360 degree, whereas the houses, shopping mall and hotel is frontage only and open back design. Only problem is it is available for too long, and it is not finally at retirement. So maybe this cruiser will see some lasting demand post retirement. Afterall a complete modern yacht/cruiser is still a rarity in lego world.

What happened in the stores is that each box has many leftover unsold packs, especially those figs with 4 or 5 per box. So it may make more sense to have (3 x 18 ) + 10 per box, and then the leftovers will be kept to minimal, and sale will increase as people want a full set of 18.

Could 18 minifigs be the new standard? This surely will be net positive on sales revenue of cmf since people will want a full set of 18, which is 2 more than the usual 16.

At least many GE are being built, so the supply will eventually dwindle. Tumbler OTOH .... i have yet to see any built tumbler set in person.

Series 2 minifigs for simpsons is bad, grossly overestimated demand. But the simpsons house seem to be doing fine. Series 1 minifigs were fairly good too.

I think you are mixing up creativity with high level of detail and value for money. Assault on hoth is low in details and value. This i think few will argue with you. If lego decides to rehash another 10188 then the company is being illogical. A UCS starkiller base would most certainly outsell a rehash of 10188 simply because most people who already own set 10188 would still go out to buy the new UCS starkiller base, but will not buy another rehash 10188. We can do a poll here to verify.

Don't get your logic. Only if Episode 7 bomb on the box office, then maybe we would see another Lego UCS death star. But episode 7 is immensely popular, and Lego UCS starkiller base is a logical business outcome. We have almost everything made into Lego for episode 7, except starkiller base and snoke. And that planet plays a YUGE/HUUUGE role in the new movie.

To be fair, the company can't be too creative with licensed material. The licensed sets have to be based on the movies/TV shows. On the other hand, there are much creativity in ninjago, nexo knights, chima, creator and even some friends sets. Yet AFOL are not lapping up on these sets, while demanding creativity on licensed themes ... the irony. Why would lego give up on making a starkiller base in the same style as 10143?

MF UCS has much higher chance of refresh than death star. Also i think the rumor may be for a star killer base rather than death star. And even if there is a new death star set, it will probably be at much higher price per piece, as seen in recent large sets such as UCS assault on Hoff and batcave.

So long as both x wings are selling well, why would it not make sense? Afterall episode 7 has problem of low number of craft designs, so having x wings in different colours may be a tactic to create more revenue.

Dont quite understand this rumor. There is no indication of early retirement, and still available at lego LEGO Shop at Home buy limit 10. It is a new set and highly popular after the movie is released. Why would lego poof this set now?

Yes, you are right. Somehow in my mind the toys industry consist of lego and the rest. So mattel and hasbro become interchangeable names in my mind.

Pls describe how you see lego pieces can be used to build an UCS light sabre. By UCS it means high piece counts and big scale. How do you intent to recreate the red portion of kylo ren sabre, other than a whole bunch of transparent red bricks? Transparent red technic plates? What about structural strength and asethetics? Certain ideas are just not desirable.
