The LEGO Stores' Lenient Return Policy
jaredseiders replied to Mos_Eisley's topic in LEGO Shop @ Home
Retail price and MARKET Price are two different animals. Don't demonize people for realizing that some items have a higher Market Price than Retail Price and using the levers of CAPITALISM to take advantage of it. People cannot be demonized for pricing a Dolphin Cruiser at $100. No body has to pay $100 for a Dolphin Cruiser. In fact, these were on the shelves all September, most of October, and we all found plenty in November. In fact, if I hadn't bought the Dolphin Cruiser to save for that parent, they probably would have NEVER found it anyway. Marking up items to the MARKET Price is not fraud. It is capitalism. Plain and simple. Don't like it, move to China, commie. I have no problems taking the entire counter of anything, with the purposes of reselling. It's on the counter to be sold. That is the store's first and foremost goal, especially if they aren't "banning" resellers like Lego. Most stores actually like resellers. It's why they accept reseller certificates. I have never been denied the ability to get items tax free with my reseller certificate from Target, TRU, Kmart, Walmart, and Kohls. I have never attempted at Lego because I know they do not allow it. If there is a limit in place, I will ring out multiple times, and get in the back of the line each time. I have wiped out entire counters of TMNT action figures, and when parents come by, I ask if there's any particular one they're looking for. If I have it in my cart, I give it to them if I'm feeling nice. I don't have to though. I was usually just in the holiday spirit at the time. If someone cut me off outside in the parking lot, all bets are off. If it's on the counter, and no limit is in place, the entire lot is fair game. I got there first. Tough noogies. Log onto Amazon and buy the stuff out of my store, at a mark up, and factor it as a cost for being too slow. However, refund fraud is a very real threat to a business. Everyone ******* and moans about how Lego has taken away discounts, blah blah blah. Well every dollar they lose to clowns who are refunding a $100 set they got for $25, then buying $100 of current hot legos takes away from their bottom line. For every $100 they give away for stale product that doesn't sell, they have to sell $200 worth of stuff to make the $100 back. You guys doing this are DEFINITELY ruining it for a lot of other people who are just honestly trying to exchange a gift, or had honestly lost their receipt and paid cash. That policy will be abolished if it is abused. I have some brass balls when I go into stores. I buy tons of stuff, and I expect good service too, not a stink eye for buying up merchandise. I have no problems price matching an entire cart of merchandise, as long as I know I'm abiding by the store's Price Match policy (ex. only 2 items of the same kind being PM'ed.) But I would never, ever even think to consider price adjusting a clearance product. The price is never going to go up! Are you guys going to come back next month when it's 50% off and price adjust again? And when it's 75% off, and when it's 90% off? Where's the line drawn? It's not a sale price. It's a clearance price. It's never going back up, only down! -
New Lego Catalog - What's missing...

If you absolutely need guns, there is a company that makes custom stuff like that. Brickarms makes a wide variety of weapons that look like real authentic lego stuff. They also make custom minfigures and other accessories. -

I dont use the pick up option because most of my sales are 6 oz or less, and I ship first class. Also, its near my day job and I stop after work. My tax guy told me if I am dropping off shipments after work, I can write off mileage from my home to the post office and back. Since I am already travelling that way, might as well go for it. I have an 8 mile commute one way to work, and when I drop off a package I can write off 7 miles each way. Heck, during normal slower months if I have two standard delivery packages, I will ship the closer one the second day just so I can get more post office trips. :-p -
I think this will sell fine. I already sold a stage coach for $52 on Amazon and was selling cavalry sets for $30 each until I sold out. Now im hoarding them.

I think the stage coach, the train, the cavalry and the commanche camp are going to be winners overall at the end of the day. They have more versatility than just being a Lone Ranger theme. Take the lone ranger out of the cavalry set and you have an articulating horse, a firing cannon, a barricade, a spit, and 3 kick ass civil war era infantry. The Commanche Camp comes with a canoe, a teepee and an indian chief, along with the scorpians. The stage coach comes with 3 horses, a freaking kick ass stage coach, and 3 western style minifigures that AREN'T the lone ranger or tonto. And the train is just an awesome train. It's been said, not many trains come with track, let alone straight pieces. It's got that gatling gun car, and a bunch of minifigs that arent the Lone Ranger and Tonto. I think that the repeatability of Tonto and Lone Ranger minifigs is a bit disappointing, but you could swap out their heads I guess and then you have typical western style Joes. Any of this stuff could be combined to create a western style theme. It doesn't HAVE to be the Lone Ranger.

I have never had the Post office scan the package right in front of me. I always just go right past everyone in line at the Post Office, and there's a space off to the side where you can set prepaid packages. I just dump them right there and walk out the door. I usually have all of them in a huge Lego Store bag, and they fit quite nicely. I just leave the bag and stroll on my way, takes about 20 seconds. But I've also never had any of my packages go missing mysteriously either. Nor have I seen anything not start moving until a day or two after I dropped them off either. If I saw things like that occurring I would be making them scan for sure. I would absolutely look online for a customer service number. It seems what they're doing is covering their asses for not getting packages out the door in a timely manner. Priority Mail and packages in general are what's supposed to be rescuing the USPS from bankruptcy so they should get right on this issue for you. -

Sounds like you have some lazy postal workers in your post office. I have had that problem at my nearest post office (I live in a small town). I now drop off at the bigger post office, it's not really a city, but it's not a small village either. They have much better service. My stuff is moving towards the airport the same evening I dropped it off. I drop off packages after work normally, but recently I've been doing so at lunch time to give them more time to sort it and move it. Even when I drop off at 4:30 PM, by 7 to 8 PM same day they are in transit and scanned in at the city where they will be flown out from. I get great service out of most of the post offices my packages enter into. Every now and then I find a package that seemed to be stuck in a town for a day or two. I think, like everywhere, there are just lazy employees at some offices. It's not the whole service though. I ship only USPS and never had a late package. (I ship into Amazon using UPS though, since there's a big discount for using them to ship to Amazon). If I was in your shoes, I'd try using the post office at a neighboring town and see if you get different results. Preferably a town that had more mail flow. -

You say 50 listings. If they are BIN listings with multiple items (like I have 10 of something) does that count as one listing or 10? -

For the record, Year to Date I sold 4594 items in 4272 transactions. I have had 2 bad transactions where I felt I got screwed and 3 or 4 weird transactions where people returned things in perfect condition for unusual reasons. Sometimes I think people feel they have to make up excuses why they didn't want the item that sound legitimate. Or maybe they were just having fun with it. I dunno. But out of 4272 transactions to only have 6 total with problems, that's not bad at all honestly. That's like 0.14% of my transactions with issues. I only had 54 returns for the year (so far) and some of the items were truly defective. I sold a few cheap ass R/C helicopters I got off one of those Deal websites. I couldn't get the damned things to work either so I cancelled the rest of my listings of them and tossed them in the trash. 1% of my items sold were returned to me. That's not bad at all. It might sound bad to have 54 returns, but when you're doing volume it's really not.
