These youtubers... selling "advice" It's clearly more profitable than churning out the hours and risks on flipping Lego sets... Selling speculative rumours... easier money... and so many subscribers fall for it... They all say the same stuff. Take a mortgage on your home, max out 3 credit cards (rolling different dates) and go buy legos on a discount. You'll be rich!! Double your money!! Every year!!! Look at Camel Camel Camel!!!! Check out Amazon prices for retired sets from 5 years ago! EZ!!! Please like and subscribe - become a parton - (+100$ thanks you) - free goodie! Be smart and do your own work - read, think... don't duplicate the nonsense of a Youtuber who's making money pushing BS content in your face. Ohh yeah... that's boring... right... GOGO on the Mandalorean with Child GOGO all in... -
Disappointment is warranted against expectation of Modular Set returns. Yeah you're right that there are many duds out there that did worse, but Pet Shop should be compared to those I think. Anyhow, I was just trying to help by resetting the context of many years ago as I've been along for a while now. I'll go back to full silent mode - np

This quote deserves a reply - I can't resist... I'd say some of that hate is warranted... 1. Opportunity cost 2. Expecations not met 3. Storage space limits 4. Puchase price was rarely 100E as most hoarded when the dance started and then TLG extended retirement date 5. Release date 2011... https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?S=10218-1#T=P But you are right, 7% CAGR is a nice rate well above TB10Yr !!! (if you don't count all costs 🙂) Take care

The forum has lost some quality members unfortunately and the world of lego-reselling has become opportunistic. When people start Youtube Channels to give "Patreon VIP advice" on LEGO reselling for money... pffff No wonder nobody's giving quality advice anymore. "We don't offer investing advice, but please pay us 10$/month and you'll get an exclusive tips on what sets to hoard..." ridiculous...

Love that comment... "People like you p*ss me off. I'm curious do you have too much time or do you enjoy this?" Can't agree more. Don't be put off by Brick Trollers. And thanks for sharing your opinion. -
This year's ideas Retired sets are a really tough bunch to chose from...

Bugatti is bye bye -
10% gross is not profitable net. The % look nice, but without scale (and there's just the problem) there's no business model. If you like packing, going to the post office and handling customer care, sure 10% is fine. The sets I buy need to make 50e absolute money net... that's my minimum threshold.

On this nice website, I went from lurking, to active optimist, to articles writing, back to active sceptical, to lurker, to out, back to lurker, and now to this post... Ahhh... still remember buying SSD 10221 at 300e/p... 6 months after retirement at 450e... anyhow... It will be interesting to see how high investors will stock the set. The snow speeder UCS has enough inventory to remain flattish for 4 years AT LEAST before the price should pick up... ceteris paribus. That seems too long for such big space-mongering sets. Based on the bearish comments in this section, I guess we should see some disinterest showing sooner than later? But then there are more big online players now with huge depots full of sets - maybe only a recession can flush them out? it's difficult indeed. I never saw our dearest moderator so bluntly negative either. Even more a bear than MR negative himself (ValE ?) I'm watching and waiting for that window of improvement...

Maybe new Disney train can replace the retiring WHT? -
Hi even though investing in Lego has become more challenging, the potential to build anything your imagination comes up with has never been greater. A while ago I decided I wanted to MOC my own house, recycling some profits from the reselling business in a really fun project. It took me a long time - clearly I lack lots of techniques, but I'm happy to show you the current status. I'm on a building break now before I open up the rooms to add some light bricks I bought from a Dutch specialized website. Once they are up and running, I'll probably post all the interiors too... (everything is 'Modular' - at least I learned something from my PS adventures :-)) Take care. ZULU

Seriously? I bought them after 2 years out, thinking the retirement would be the year after. Just like the FB... I speculated the set would jump 100E on retirement I was dead wrong. The set never went away and now even my Aunt from Nigeria has 3 for sale. Even though I was lucky on some sets, the cheer number of TB, T1 and PS still sitting in my stock are just hurting my eyes. Lucky me - I managed to avoid the DS pitfall... Anyways - this is my last negative post. From now on - everything IS AWESOME!!! -

The full 30!!!! Soooo lucky. I'm done with modulars. PS is proof enough. Pity I have multiples of PC, PR too. Only stopped buying when DO was released. Too late ? -
Amazon had them at -50pct prime a long time. Already worried this set will be overhoarded. At least i got it at -50 to german rrp
-
All this dimensions... Almost like tulips in Holland 1600 here, 1500 sets there... You can't really build a modular using homer torsos...
-
my new rule: I buy at -25% to the price I can sell today
-
for 99c, I would get the shopping bag
-
hilarous input. I love it!

As we are talking Dimensions, I phoned up a couple of stores to see if they had some Green Arrows lingering around. One closeby had six at 59E so I picked them up. We started talking (about the hard times of the B&M shop etc - it was a slow day in the store...) and then we strolled past the "Dimensions Corner". Everything was still there. Bright and new for the customer... They had never seen such low interest in anything from TLG before. ..... Almost forgot: The store also had plenty of Friends Tour buses, Xeno Knight castles on wheels ... all at -50%. I left that to the lucky parent.

T1 and TB? They just have been launched! The new box gives these sets the reset they need! -

Nice summary. Pity I don't agree with much you've written ?. My thoughts? Only HC and Simpsons are probably done in 2017. And that isn't really relevant as these sets are not selling well anyways and can be qualified Turds... The other sets could keep going on and on and on...
