  1. I got 1 for $59 in Winchester, IN.
  2. Lego store in Baltimore had a stack. I bought 3 for selling the figs and keeping the pieces. They were limit 5. I left several on the shelf. Avg part out price is $182 which is what I paid for all 3: https://www.bricklink.com/catalogPOV.asp?itemType=***&itemNo=40158&itemSeq=1&itemQty=1&breakType=M&itemCondition=******&incInstr=Y Even if I only sell the figs for $3.50 each, I'll make my money back. And even if I don't there's some nice pieces in there.
  3. Lol, I work right across the street from those morons. I've walked over there and tried to hand deliver my GSP-sold items in the past, but the ham-fisted-meat-brain security guard at the gate wouldn't let me. So I pay USPS to carry my box about 200ft. Our main office is across the street, but we also have a warehouse right next to theirs (literally, we share a wall). They always park in front of our loading dock, so we have their cars towed. They have really high attrition because I'm sure it's a **** job, so there's always new guys who don't know not to park there.
  4. Just picked up 2 from the Cincinnati LEGO store yesterday. They had 4-5 more.
  5. I got mine last Thursday. I put it on eBay today for $700 with a 7 day expiration so I doubt it will sell. I have high hopes for this set.
  6. The cashier at the Lego store didn't even blink when I purchased over $800 the other day.
  7. You are correct, anything starting with 10xxx is an exclusive and not eligible for the discount. They didn't have any Cargo trains at my local store (or Horizon Expresses for that matter). I'll look in to Vampyre Castles, although I feel that I'll be able to find them on clearance soon at Meijer, Target and Walmart. Both exclusives.
  8. I had 15% off there last weekend on anything (although only 1 of each exclusive) and I picked up an R2D2 (for investing), a VW Camper (for investing), Palace Cinema (to build or to invest, haven't decided) and a tower bridge to build with the wife. I get 30% off on 5 sets this weekend but not on exclusives, what should I get? Don't ask how I get the discount, I'm not allowed to say.
  9. I travel for work a lot. I hit up a bunch oh Meijer's, Walmarts, Targets and K-Marts on a drive from Detroit to Lima to Marion 2 weeks ago. The only stores that had any clearance worthwhile were the Meijer's. I got 3 (out of the maybe 25 they had) Hobbit board games for $8.75/ea. I would bought the rest if they had more decent pieces in them. I also got a Lego Creationary game for $26 (for my wife and I to play), I got 1 orange helicopter Creator set for $26, about 15 of the Series 1/2 Star Wars planet sets for $2.49/ea. I also snagged 1 Ghost Train for $55 (On sale, not clearance) for myself. I also got a few Star Wars poly bags for $1.50/ea. Not a bad haul. I also check my local Kroger Marketplace about every 2 days. A few weeks ago I scored 6 sealed 32ct Series 9 CMF boxes for $1.49 each because the cashier was too busy chatting to pay any attention to what she was doing. I gave 4 to my LUG to draft and kept the other 2.
  10. I'm a member of OKILUG. It's awesome.
  11. I asked the manager of a little local toy shop if I could have a discount if I purchased all of their remaining Harry Potter sets. Shot down. I've never asked at a Wal-Mart though, I always figured the answer would be hell no.
  12. My boss and I were thinking about going in halfsies on this. What kind of return do you think we could see if we part it out and stick it on BL?
  13. Unrelated: I was almost able to snag a partially opened 6399 for $325. The idiot seller wouldn't ever reply to my emails requesting a time and place to meet. He was apparently always too busy for me to give him $325. Sigh.
  14. Whoever won that didn't read the description, which clearly states that the auction is only for 1. Maybe I need to steal his photo to sell my own set?
  15. I went back today to purchase them. There were only 2 of the original 5 left. None in the back room. I bought them both.
  16. I'm considering this too. 16 curved tracks are going for between $20-35, the straights are worth $3-4/ea, so the track alone can go for $40-50ish. Is the rest of the set sellable for enough to make some money?
  17. http://www.brickpicker.com/bpms/set.cfm?set=4867-1 I just spent a bunch on some Hogwarts Expresses otherwise I'd ****** them all up! Maybe some other local BP'er can snag them. They're currently going for $80ish online and have nowhere to go but up.
  18. I still have 2. I was able to sell 3. 2 for $90 and 1 for $100. I'm happy.
  19. I got 6x 30108 for $0.99 ea at a Goodwill 2 weeks ago. That's 1/4-1/5th MSRP. Only time I've seen any, not that I look very often.
  20. My only concern about investing in the Architecture series is that they show no sign of going EOL. I bought a single one for investment purchases and I'm thinking of getting rid of it and spending the $50 on something else. Even the sets that were released in 2008 are still available at retail. That said, once they go EOL, I agree with the other posters that the larger sets will see some gain. The price per piece of the smaller ones is too high for them to see any real growth though. The only draw they have is the pretty boxes and nice instructions. I personally would never buy any to build though. I might buy one of the larger sets for the pieces though...
  21. At my work, we send everything via Fedex or UPS. Never USPS. Tiny little electronics worth $1000's. I've personally sent a package to our office with $70,000+ worth of electronics. No insurance. The electronics were from a parted out machine. If you claim X, their insurance requires that you prove you paid X amount for the item. If you don't have a receipt, or if you're selling parted out pieces, you're SOL basically.
  22. http://growgreenmi.com/hydrogen-peroxide-4l-case-of-4 I have a case of this in my closet for when I need to whiten bricks (It was $85 when I bought it...) I also add oxyclean as an oxidizer. ******.B., make sure you dilute the peroxide enough. If you don't, the chemical reaction between the bricks, acid, and oxyclean will cause the mixture to heat up. My tub of bricks I was bleaching started to steam. I'd estimate that it got up to 160F before I noticed and dumped a bunch of baking soda in it to kill the acid. Be careful. 29% H2O2 will cause chemical burns on your hands. Those little cuts all over your hands won't feel too good after being soaked in 29%. I was originally going to write an article for Brickpicker extolling the virtues of this cleaning method and how to do it. But, I noticed that the bricks I cleaned in this manner were hard to stack with untreated bricks. It was as if they had gotten a tiny bit bigger. Also, the colored bricks I tried cleaning this way started to get whiter, rather than cleaner.
  23. 25 year old electrical engineer. I work on digital CTP devices ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_to_plate http://www.screen.co.jp/ga_dtp/en/product/#CTP ). Married, 2 cats, no kids, live in KY.
