Decided to grab my 3 missing modular before the tariffs hit. Got each for slightly below market value - paid $2.2k before taxes, including a whole lot of replacement parts for yellowing. The Green Grocer had all the white very yellowed which I replaced. A lot of LBG parts were yellowed too, but most I could place in such a way that it wasn't visible from the outside. For Market Street there was minor yellowing on the white, but almost all the light blue had severely yellowed. I was again able to turn the bricks in such a way that it wasn't noticeable. Surprisingly, Cafe Corner was pristine. I now have all the Modulars (but not all of them built yet). That's next on the list. People say these early modulars are not as fun to build as the newer ones, but I had a blast doing this. Probably fueled by the fact that sometimes you are holding a $30 part, or a handful of rare slopes at $3 each. Guess that's the investor in me ;-) Sent from my SM-A326U1 using Tapatalk5 points

I went and built this too. I almost paid $ on ebay for one since I missed the first build but they brought this back for some reason. I don't remember them bringing back take and builds of the same set but they probably did and I just didn't know. they had plenty to build and not much traffic.2 points

Went to LEGO store yesterday for the first time in a long time and they happened to have this free build thing. In case not obvious, this is a mini steering wheel that can rotate freely and can be tilted against its base. It is amazing the types of bricks available and the kind of printing. The 3 semi transparent lines on the translucent blue flat would have been unimaginable 10 years ago.2 points

The shire is nasty hobbits to me reminiscent of 1980 huge base plates taking up most of build with those ugly green slope pieces middling side builds just unimpressive. How can they do so amazing with Rivendell and present this rubbish of a set????2 points

I gained a lot from this site. That said, the core members imo are more experienced and bigger players relative to the discords who are newbies. The newbies bring a lot more energy and post every little sale or strategy that they learn and discuss it with the passion that comes along with being a newbie. Every single deal (and non deal) gets posted. There also are some pretty freaking sophisticated bots built in. Its way more of a social scene. The experienced ones here have business models that work for them and sourcing strategies that they arent necessarily inclined to share. So it makes sense to be a quieter forum. For deals >>> I look elsewhere For leaks >>> I look elsewhere For amazon/WM/ebay related issues, this place is tops, everyone is very helpful and gracious with sharing info. Same for more mature sophisticated investing opinions. The discords are full of rookies with no real sense of the market for the most part.2 points

Nice pickups! Just to clarify there are no tariffs on used merchandise only newly imported. I thought CC and GG were amazing builds, yes the interiors are lacking compared to today’s modulars, but there is definitely a thrill in building them. MS not so much.1 point

Hmm, look to be about the same size as the Boba UCS version. But has 1000 more pieces? I was hoping it would be a little bigger to fall more in the minifig scale 'sweet spot', but at least I can display the two versions together.1 point

Found a new and possibly growing channel presently focused on reconstructing the Bionicle characters to be more poseable & detailed. He goes through the thought process while showing how to build the updated designs for yourself. So far, he has redone Tahu, Kopaka, Onua, Gali, and just now Lewa.1 point

I don't think that Raven or TPM have ever done business with West End, but, rather, are two people who buy large collections and are trustworthy. I can vouch for both as well having bought from and sold to each multiple times over the years, as well as collaborating on larger deals. They would be good people to reach out to if you want to unload your entire inventory in one shot for a very fair price and through a very easy transaction. As for West End Toys, I've sold to them before, but never used them for consignment. The sales all went pretty smoothly given the size of the transactions. I've heard mixed reviews on the consignment side. I suspect that it is a good service for certain types of sellers, but not for everyone. The people who I know who had bad experiences were all people who had the capacity to manage their own sales, but went the consignment route because of the perceived ease. At the end of the day, the complaints they had were all rooted in their lack of control over their inventory after consigning it. I talked with West End about consignment a few years ago, but it didn't make a lot of sense for me given the infrastructure that I had already built up to move inventory and given that I'm way too Type A to be comfortable giving up the amount of control I would have had to have ceded to them to go down that road. There are some benefits to doing business with them that you won't find elsewhere (e.g., information sharing, opportunity to participate in special deals). It really comes down to what you're trying to accomplish.1 point
