  1. One of the inherent advantages that many of us here have is that our knowledge of the secondary market doesn't start in 2019/2020 like so many of the new "investors" out there. I chuckled at a lot of the "common wisdom" that I saw so many expert-in-their-own-minds spout on Facebook groups and elsewhere over the last year. Like how the Walmart Black Friday brick boxes were quite possibly one of the dumbest things to buy because (a) there were no minifigures, (b) there is nothing "collectible" about them, (c) there were so many available on Black Friday, etc., etc....or that Duplo is a complete waste of time because it's just made for kids. I suspect that there are quite a few people who stocked up on Grand Hotel, but probably not as many as stocked up on Batwing, the Star Wars 3-set combo pack at Walmart, classic Batmobile, or any of the other of the handful of sets that all of the newbies were chasing this year. I went heavy on both the Grand Hotel and Shopping Mall as well as long list of sets that I never saw mentioned a single time by any of the newly-minted experts.

  2. first of all why are we discussing this in daily Deals 2nd, maybe Walmart is starting to commingle their inventories similar to Amazon using an AI to figure out more cost effective combination of sourcing and shipping locations

  3. only 13 sellers on the amazon listing, lowest price is $160 (60% over msrp), up 15% over the last 2 weeks. this set is doing the best so far of all the sets i follow from class of 2022. hard to believe not many hoarded this set given how incredible the last friends hotel did. hopefully the seller count can stay this low and there is no significant restocking.

  5. Here's a pic of the special WM polybag (no padding) used for local deliveries: @enotoga: You should have some order details on a red-bordered sticker on either the bag (blurred area in my pic) or directly on the Galaxy Explorer box [HATE that, have to remove them with a hair dryer]. @knifer: agree, the trick here must be in the payment method.

  7. It's still not less than $50. It's $63.75. They found a way to sell Walmart's own inventory for less than Walmart sells it, right under their nose, from 14,000 miles away. And yes, it's a real Lego set. The Chinese never touched it.

  8. it is plausible that you are the other vendor and she got the orders mixed up

  9. This might be my favorite return reason Melinda, it's hard to get it there in time for Christmas when you place the order Christmas morning. Thankfully the other person she ordered it from on Christmas morning was able to send it via DeLorean. On the bright side it was successfully delivered December 29th.

  10. I rather like the clock, but also a good number of bangers in this group. I love the Architects House: And the UP! House is well executed The Alpine Refuge looks WAY too much like the Winter Chalet that made the cut over at Bricklink recently.

  11. Architecture is dead....it was a fantastic line for adult collectors and for investment. But now they extend the shelf lives way too far and they have failed to come up with anything new or desirable for some time now. Very sad as I was an Architecture completionist, but have now lost all of my interest in Architecture. Also...every time I walk into my storage....I feel like my New York's and London's are outright mocking me! Where's the dead money thread?!

  12. Looks like bad news for the Architecture fans out there. Appears as though Paris, New York, and London were all extended for at least one more year.

  13. Maybe they figure why discount, just mark "retired" and they will sell.

  15. This has to be Target employee theft with zero dollar “buy in” to sell at these prices OBO with free shipping, unless I am missing something. Interesting thing is he has a sign on the front door that says “No longer buying lego”.
