Visited CA recently and the entire aisles at WM are behind glass. Didn't even bother with the clearance, too much of hassle waiting to get help. It's all backwards and ridiculous how this is being handled. This is not some necessity for those struggling. I know we're in some woke/acceptance phase, but crime tolerance should not be part of it. Have a few thieves get shot on their way out, all the wires and glass can go away. Merry Christmas! 😛

Interesting. I think the blacktron GWP looks like hot garbage. I've seen better designs from 10 year olds. And before you say anything, I grew up in the 80s and played with blacktron when I was a kid. Even my nostalgia goggles don't redeem that set

Moreno Valley is a bit too far to drive in Alabama. I know, I used to live there. However, spurred by your find, I called my three "local" Sam's and, while none of them had one, one manager said "Let me do some checking." He came back and told me to check the web site. After refreshing, it came back up for purchase. I had been refreshing the site 6-7 times a day for the last 5 days. I don't know what he did but, he's now my hero! So, not only was I able to order it for the $399 price, but I got 8% back via Rakuten. Life is good! Thanks for your post. Those stickers are a major buzz kill. One of the best things about classic sets is no stickers. Makes it look fake, especially the front slope.

It’s not always what’s in the box, sometimes it’s just the box itself.

I can't sell on offer up anymore. Too much cheap stolen stuff to compete with. Selling platforms should have some accountability too. They are becoming fences.

They are going to have to come down off this $950 threshold ridiculousness. They’ll have to start prosecuting 50% of these a-holes again at some point. There isn’t anything to discourage them and it’s becoming much too brazen and prevalent.

Of the two Walmarts close to me in Northern California, one has the glass. I am sure it backfires because the store is not in what I’d call a high-crime area by any means. Instead it just discourages sales. And it also limits the sets they have available because there isn’t much case space.

Just stopped in at one my Lego stores. Completely wiped out of everything. Barest I have ever seen. The only thing maybe of note were sleighs and christmas trees in abundance.

No kidding. The CC companies make all this hoopla about fraud protection as if consumers had anything to worry about. Anyone can just make a purchase and call their cc company and deny the charge and get the the charge reversed. Consumers get their money back and the cc company get more money in fees. Only the merchants loose out so why would the banks care.

I’ve been pretty quiet lately but I still check in 1-2 times a day. I’m surprised there hasn’t been more chatter regarding the current Meijer sale / coupon stack that was posted earlier today in the DD thread. Props to the OP. Two separate stores. Two separate coupons (my wife and mine). I picked up all this today at 54% off. Normal sale/coupon pricing would have come to 49% but my teenage son just recently got his first part time job at my local Meijer so I was somehow able to apply his employee discount as well, bringing the savings to 54%. I take it it's more of CA thing then. Been like this for years now. Used to be some exceptions but not anymore. About a week ago they were unpacking toys out in the main isle when I found a case of the Ninjago Gift Pack Sets. I opened the case right in front of them and scanned for the price. $15 so I grabbed them and went to purchase. Security came and stopped me and kinda really gave me a hard time over it. Told me I was defeating the purpose of all the Lego behind the glass. I didn't even get into it over all the Lego that is stacked on top of the glass, the Lego in their special holiday toy section, and the clearance section.

I hadn't heard it mentioned here before, and I hadn't been in B&N for a long time, but I see they have transitioned to only putting empty boxes on the shelves. It's definitely getting harder to arm sweep. Crime is just getting worse. There are less cops, ones that are there are tentative to act or prevent, criminals are getting very little time, let out early. In California if thieves stay under $950 there is no punishment. My dad's business was just broken into on Christmas Day. Nothing really of value there to steal, just some of the nearby "homeless" looking for anything to grab. Damage is always worse than anything they take. Makes the holidays a joyous time of the year.

So my last order of 3x Burrows from Target were shipped separately. Was thinking "great, I don't have to worry about them crushing each other. Separate boxes!" Wishful thinking . . .

It’s been a day. [emoji2359] A few minutes after the kids finished opening gifts this am my wife got a phone call from the lady house sitting for my father in law that his condo was flooding. I rushed over to find the neighboring unit had a burst sprinkler line and water was gushing through most of the units on his floor down to the street. Why no one thought to call the fire dept. is beyond me, but they arrived in minutes after I dialed and had the water shut off. I spent most of the day with two shopvacs and multiple box fans trying to dry out his place. I think his floors are beyond saving at this point, they are or were real hardwood, but we’ll see. The neighboring unit is completely destroyed and so is another unit on the opposite side. Both are vacant for the holidays and the building manager couldn’t get anyone to come out on Christmas.
