  1. My Galaxy Explorer set arrived today in great condition that I pre-ordered from Lego SAH! It was cushioned with paper.

  2. I looked at this issue years ago when I was buying more from overseas sellers. I cannot recall the specifics, but I do know that I never worried about import duties and ordered from overseas pretty freely. The largest orders I placed were in the $4k-$5k range and I was never assessed any import duties.

  3. But what ppl may be missing is also a change in B2B prices. LEGO increase their prices to counter inflation, so they must also increase prices they offer to retailers, otherwise there's little sense. Amazon and others may provide higher discounts on a stock they bought previously at lower prices, but I am 100% certain price increase will follow with future stock deliveries.

  7. Thanks @melting If I understand correctly, each category import has it's own rules. So toys very well may differ from artwork. I came across some web info stating that toys are exempt from duties but did not see this on any official website.

  8. I was recently considering buying a piece of artwork from Europe and was told this " All goods worth over $2,500 that are imported into the US require formal entry by US Customs and Border Protection and need to be assigned to a registered importer – which is you as the purchaser of this work. The CBP Form 5106 is the Importer Identity Form. The US CBP uses that form to keep track of importers’ information, verify the identity of the importer, track their importing history, and ensure that they are abiding by all the laws for importing into the U.S. Once you submit this form, you will become known as an Importer of Record, which means that the process will be much quicker the next time you do this." Not sure if this applies to your situation. https://www.cbp.gov/sites/default/files/assets/documents/2022-May/CBP Form 5106.pdf

  11. If it’s a good trade for you, I wouldn’t worry a great deal about the TOS. First, you’re trading and not selling so there’s no money for them to take a cut of. Second, that provision in the TOS is IMHO really designed to prevent people from leveraging the site to find customers and then moving their business outside of it to avoid fees. Here, you’re connecting with someone else to do an exchange. I would be very surprised if the admins at BL would care. If you’re really concerned, you could ask them how they feel about trades. Personally, I’ve done one trade through BL, but it was years ago so maybe not the best precedent. It went smoothly and I’ve actually stayed in touch with the other guy over the years. 12. Maybe but when have they ever increased it by such a large amount in one go? Nothing subtle or gradual about this.

  13. Dang, I knew this was coming but some of these increases feel ridiculous. I just said to my wife: "Well, inflation has finally hit the [Keymomachine] household, Lego has raised prices 10-20%." She says, "yeah, but that means all the stuff in the basement just got that much better. It's like Forever stamps!"

  15. I have been approached a few times to trade via Bricklink users, and have always declined since these were used items that were being floated out there and everyone's idea of "new" or "excellent" are wildly different. So just because of this, I avoid it. New, sealed items would be a different story in regards to condition, but as has been stated, going outside of BL leaves you to some risk of being slapped on the hand by Lego.

  16. As with most things one must decide how much risk vs reward is there. I like buying and selling stuff on BL but compared to the other venues there just isn’t enough velocity, at least for me so it wouldn’t bother me in the slightest to lose my selling privileges, buying that might hurt but likely work around possible. With that in mind when a buyer contacted me through BL earlier this year about a fairly valuable set, 10175, new opened box, I had no issue with going outside of BL to do a local cash pickup sale. In this case is was more about not having to deal with PayPal and do a local cash sale that once done never comes back to bite you, rather than avoiding paying BL fees. I have sold other items through BL this year and this only represents about 20% of my estimated total sales there this year. This was in March and nothing has happened in terms of what your worried about. Just one data point though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
