Opportunity strikes. Inflation in the media is a great time for them to do this and pad margins. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk4 points

So here is my haul I did 4 separate orders and 2 of the HP for the double GWP. First time through the line it charged me $24.99 for the Forest Hideout because of the staircase so the manager had to override it. The Forest Hideout has the same seal codes as the first round so not another production run and manager said they definitely won’t have enough to make it until Wednesday when the castle comes out and most likely will be out before 5PM today, I guess for when people get off work. He said get here early if I want a castle as interest has been high and they didn’t get that many in. They did limit to 1 of each new set and I really wanted to grab another 40574 as that was gone from my wish list at 03:00. Not sure what happened to it online but he said they only got 1 case in so I am thinking 3-5 units, and by the time I got back in line they were gone.3 points

Dang, I knew this was coming but some of these increases feel ridiculous. I just said to my wife: "Well, inflation has finally hit the [Keymomachine] household, Lego has raised prices 10-20%." She says, "yeah, but that means all the stuff in the basement just got that much better. It's like Forever stamps!"3 points

When have they ever increased prices on existing sets? Or is that what mid-cycle means, middle of the sets life cycle, or did you mean middle of the year? They have always had price increases look at the modulars CC $140, GG $150 DO $160 and so on, but when the new year’s release came out the old models never got an increase. Interestingly UCS MILF was the same price in store and the price increases deffinetly did not deter the crowds. Not sure if it was the price increases or something else but while I was in the checkout line the manager who knows me well came up to me and said “We really appreciate your business get whatever you want”.2 points

How much will this hurt LEGO? I know I will become significantly more selective about what I buy. Already working with a large backlog over here, so will likely only buy the new castle and just call it at that for a while. I think they would have commanded a small price increase and not seen a big drop off, but $240 for that R2D2 is just crazy.2 points

Drove home from Michigan today, took a nap and then opened up Facebook Marketplace and saw this listing for $20: Now, if you look beyond the dust and the plane, there is a wall so I instantly offered to buy it, dust and all! Then while waiting for a response I confirmed what I suspected on Bricklink. That is Green Grocer for $20.2 points

agree 100 % just wonder if lego stores will start discounting or will leave it to the retail channel (amazon, target, walmart, etc)1 point

my store said the Disney haunted mansion (sold out), lego store (the only got 4 or 5) (sold out), James Bond (almost sold out) and peach's castle were the big sellers. While I saw some big sets being sold they tended to be old ones without price increases. They will run out of forest gwp today they believe. I bought an old larger non price increase set myself with a forest gwp.1 point

However, you will receive a beat-up box because it will be shipped "naked".1 point

Target still has several sets at old price, like Home Alone House and R2-D2. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Maybe but when have they ever increased it by such a large amount in one go? Nothing subtle or gradual about this.1 point

I don't think that this will hurt LEGO one bit. LEGO has consistently raised prices over the last 10-15 years and it hasn't seemed to hurt them yet. When I started reselling, there were very few sets with an MSRP over $100 and they were all exclusives (i.e., UCS, modulars, etc.). Now, LEGO has normalized price points between $100-$200 for non-exclusive sets and has a bevy of sets priced between $200 and $800.1 point
