  2. We got the Vorys letter in back in January and immediately hired an IP attorney. Our letter called out our presence on Amazon, eBay and Walmart but of course not on Bricklink. We use a different store name on Amazon because we sell more than Lego but it was probably our business address that linked them together. After my attorney spent a couple weeks getting the lay of the land understanding our position in the market, where we source our products, our quality control measures and near flawless customer service for 15 years, he recommended we respond with an 8 page "Thanks but no thanks" which was sent about 2 weeks ago. At first I was nervous about responding in fear of putting a target on my back (knowing so many others are tossing the letter in the trash) but too much of my life has been dedicated to Lego for me to sit on my hands. Most of us reading this thread can legitimately say we are more knowledgeable about Lego products than most (if not all) of Lego's authorized resellers in the US. I can also tell you with 100% confidence that by "us" reselling genuine Lego products and providing a 2nd life only adds to the perceived value of the Lego brand. If Lego sliced the necks of ALL legitimate Lego resellers then Lego would quickly become nothing more than Mega Bloks with a shinier brick. The perceived value of Lego would erode very quickly ...the parents who now justify buying a $350 Gunship by saying "I can probably sell this eBay in 2 years and get my money back" would no longer have this option and thus make better buying decisions. This would also produce many more "pop-up shops" with a higher number of scammers and the market will have a tougher time determining the good sellers from the bad. We are one of the good guys and treat Lego like part of the family so for us to be called out in this dragnet is very disappointing. We intend on fighting this until we run out of resources.

  3. No I am fine with that....we are given dominion over this planet and its animals to do as we will......a plant isn't made in the image of God. Any other questions you want answers too?

  4. Typically, the material difference argument relies on a product warranty that is designed to only benefit the first person to purchase an item. So, if a reseller buys from a retailer, they get the benefit of the warranty, but cannot then pass it on to the person that they sell the product to. I think this is how they did it in the Otterbox case and it makes sense given that the end consumer is getting something different (in terms of the rights that come with the product) by buying from the reseller than they would buying from an authorized retailer. As far as I know, Lego doesn't offer express warranties on its products so I'm not sure how they are planning to make out their material difference argument.

  6. 2022 Summer/Fall set list rumor popping up in a few places Hogwarts Carriage - $20 Advent Calendar - $40 Sirius Black Rescue (POA) - $50 Dumbledore's Office - $80 Ministry of Magic - $100 Hungarian Horntail (Brick Built) - $50 Shrieking Shack - $90 Unknown - $120 Unknown - $470 (D2C) I was hoping the D2C would be the Ministry of Magic, sigh. But $100 better than nothing

  7. Now we can start guessing what else it could be. Since Lego are liking stadia so much at the moment, could it be the quidditch stadium at large scale? Gringotts will always be a possibility (until they remake it) but $470 seems a bit higher than I'd expect. Other than those two, what else could it be given than the MoM is excluded?

  8. The letter was 6 pages long and full of of baseless claims. We responded to each and every one of them. For example, one of their main arguments to the First Sale Doctrine is material difference. Everything we sell on Amazon and Walmart (including Collectible Minifigures) are sealed in the original factory packaging.... even if the listing says "opened to verify". So it's baseless to claim we're selling a materially different product and the quality is the same as it was when it left the Lego factory. For sellers that open packages ... well I could be swayed to see Lego's point of view. We chose to do it this way from the beginning because it's almost impossible for a customer to claim we're selling counterfeit or used as new when they are cutting open the packages themselves. This also tells me they've didn't do test buys or they'd know that.

  11. True. Jewish individuals don't recognize the NT as valid. However, Christians do. Biblically speaking, you can't deny that the God of the NT is the God of the OT. However, there may be some Christians that do deny this. Really, this would be a cult since they are denying part of the Scripture, but that's a separate discussion ;). A lot of people prefer the NT over the OT due to it being more relatable and ,in some peoples opinions, practical. However, this does discount important truths taught in the OT including truths foundational to our faith. It's either an all or nothing thing (that's what I believe). You either believe it all (both books) or it's all a lie and not worth believing in at all.

  13. Gravity keeps our feet on the ground; not rotational inertia. In fact a high enough tangential velocity can counter gravity as in how satellites stay in orbit. We do know that all things with mass exert a gravitational force on all other things with mass but why is a mystery. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  16. This would be ideal, so many things could be included. Obviously it would start with a castle expansion, but there could also be a microscale quidditch, Hogsmeade + Shrieking Shack, events from the 4th book (maze, Horntail arena), maybe some trees from the forest. Mostly though it would be awesome to get another portion of the castle

  17. Forgot another possibility the existing $400 Hogwarts Castle micro scale set in the rock work has 2 hidden Technic pins for an expansion.

  18. It is retired although not officially noted on SAH. I believe this was a Walmart exclusive so reason why no other retailer has it. If you just want one to build eBay is even cheaper.

  19. Don't think I've seen this one mentioned but LEGO Star Wars: Return of the Jedi Death Star Final Duel 75291 has a retiring soon tag on SAH and the only major retailor that still has it in stock in US is Walmart for 10% off: https://www.walmart.com/ip/LEGO-Star-Wars-Return-of-the-Jedi-Death-Star-Final-Duel-75291-Building-Toy-for-Hours-of-Creative-Fun-775-Pieces/815968276

  23. What size font did he use to take 8 pages to say "Thanks, but no thanks"? Just kidding, but I am curious about it...was it 8 pages of legal argument or did the lawyer lay out a bunch of facts about you and your business?

  27. Not sure if this is the right place for this but spent this morning with my nephew. Weather has been awful all day and hes been with me as a distraction, time away from his Dad who is on palliative care. We went with the Trons today... He rarely gets access to my vintage sets but said he actually preferred it to the Star Wars sets! I asked why and he said " look at them! They are all about to get blown to bits but they are all still smiling!" Melted my heart! 😊 He asked if he could take it home with him to his house and when I'd stopped laughing we picked out a Chima Polybag for him to take back instead. 🤷‍♂️

  28. I have seen a few different reasons. My general take is that it doesn't matter the reason, as a persons religious faith is their own. That is their business, and all that should be required is sincerity and in good faith. In other words don't use it lightly or deceptively. In my case, specifically, I classify it as genetic modification. I prefer the old way of vaccination, where you expose your body and let it naturally learn to fight. There is a traditional COVID vaccine on the horizon called Novavax and I'll be getting that as soon as I am able. But our bodies are temples made in the image of God and there are things we should not meddle in. I have no doubt, that it is made with the best of intentions and its a very light example of this. However, the line must be drawn on a personal level of what we deem acceptable for our own bodies. I feel we are opening a door here.... and it will lead to future medicine with extreme cosmetic and performance body mods, Your very nature will be modded and patched like software and your wallet will determine your children's abilities and traits. Not standing in the way of these things as people obviously want it, just it's not for me and I want to be left alone to live my life according to my convictions.

  30. Compared to the adrenaline junkies I work with, I am very cautious. The point I was trying to make is that it is up to everyone what their personal threshold for safety is and that even if you do everything "right" you still might end up that way. I am a perfectly healthy 35 year old with no pre-existing conditions. My chances of death from covid are tiny! I still weighed the pros and cons and contrasted it with my religious faith and choose not to get the shot. I consciously accepted that risk.....and I am well aware I took a somewhat increased risk. Point is its up to the individual. If you want to be an idiot and not wear a seatbelt go for it. I wear mine, but I support the rights of others to choose not to. Because as an autocross and sports car enthusiast I understand the protection it provides and not wearing one is outside my safety zone.

  31. It already has. But antibodies are just one component of immunity. Its also, more importantly, T and B cell recognition. T-cell protection will end up being the long term weapon against serious harm. Over the past two years, Covid19 has followed a predictable path for what we expect from virus mutations. Something I've been saying the entire time with loads of pushback on line and in real life. I think many refused to accept normal viral patterns as a templet for prediction and clung to this crazy idea that mutation=bad, even when viral precedent tells us otherwise. We were never going to vaccinate the world. An impossible task. And predictably, a very contagious, milder, vaccine evading version would emerge and infect the globe. This path was almost a certainty. An obvious outcome to anyone who uses their own brain instead of the media to guide them.
