Reached out to a good friend that I have wronged years and years back and we went our own separate ways. Been meaning to approach him for a couple years but I’ve been putting it off ( think the old man and his son from home alone ). We aren’t hanging out for Christmas but at least we talked for a good bit19 points

Got busy and never updated but actually arrived at dealership the next day after posting that last assembly line photo. Took possession 12/8/21 from a 7/13/20 reservation... Got about 400 miles on it so far and its fun to drive. Feels like a tank on the road and lot more room / comfort than the Wranglers I drove for a few weeks. Color looks a lot more vibrant in the sun too and darker at night. Were shocked I was keeping it, said most were just having them sell on the lot.13 points

Round 1 first wave of orders (all castles) for USA are not scheduled to be delivered until February 2022 and second wave where they increased the limit from 5K to 10K for the other 4 sets summer 2022 per BL post on their FB page. All sets were manufactured at the Denmark plant and I guess are on a ship to the USA.3 points

Such is life. Millions a year die of cancer, colds, flu etc. COVID’s greatest asset is its ability to instill fear and control. Just imagine the power it would have in the wrong hands. 🤔3 points

If they do this, since it would be a subscription service, it would probably only be a selection of like 3 sets/month. They would probably be a pre-order type thing so they know exactly how many they need to produce. I am guessing that they would prefer offering stickered sets instead of sets with printed pieces as stickers would be easier and cheaper to produce. I am also going to guess that there would be no printed instructions and people would just be expected to use the pdf instructions. They will probably come in a more generic box without the full box art (I am thinking something like the yellow GWP box but obviously larger). And I am guessing that they would also lean more towards sets whose majority of pieces are still being produced. Oh, and very unlikely to have retired IP's that they no longer have the rights to come back (Stuff like Scooby and SpongeBob). That is just how I see it probably going and I am not going to freak out over a couple questions in a survey. Especially questions like this that have been in many previous surveys and nothing has ever come of them. Sent from my SM-G996U using Tapatalk2 points

I don't think these sets would be widely available or available for a long period of time. It sounds like if you subscribe to the service you would have access to purchase directly from Lego a handful of retired sets that will probably rotate. They need to keep rotating them so you will stay subscribed to the service. Hopefully it will be long retired sets like the original modular sets. If they start offering recently retired sets then that would be bad.2 points

So you’ve never had the flu or a cold? Covid will never go away. Eventually you will get it. Vaxxed, masked or not.2 points

Let reminds ourselves that the data is preliminary; many THINK that Omicron, altho more readily transmissible, is not as severe; but we don't KNOW. Also in terms of vaccinations and boosters....the effectiveness in PREVENTING any symptoms is not an absolute...I've read that not vaccinated probably will get some symptoms 10x more likely than vaxxed...so that means being vaccinated likely reduces your chances of developing symptoms or if you do likely mild 2 day affair. Anecdotally I am sure many that are vaxxed and boosted will still test positive for Omicron and we will all hear stories within our networks..this was the case for Delta. We saw stories here of vaxxed folks getting it. What we do KNOW is that being vaxxed and booster greatly reduces the chance of being hospitalized and ofcourse death....and this is more meaningful for the immuno-compromised or elderly and for the people with such folks in their circles.2 points

I emailed customer service last night about when these would ship, also concerned about payment method, and today they responded: Your BrickLink Designer orders for 910010 Great Fishing Boat & 910013 Retro Bowling Alley have been placed. The latter will ship in August next year, the Great Fishing Boat will ship in June 2022.1 point

I can see LEGO manufacturing 1000 of X set and selling them at marked up prices and then they run out. Once that's done, X set will start to appreciate on the secondary market since people would want a piece of that. However, LEGO pretty much could dictate the price of how much X could be, undercutting the value of what it is currently on the market. It is possible to still make money re-selling but it makes you be more careful about set selection, careful about how much to store, and waiting to see what set TLG will make "semi-retired" for the product run. A lot more hoops to go through for the sake of $$$.1 point

How interesting, I’m game but do agree with brickvoyer. Although my take is if it does happen then it’s unlikely to have an infinite number of retired sets but rather some subset of retired sets. Maybe most popular or ones that may be easiest to produce with existing molds, etc. Just my two cents, which is not even worth that much!1 point

Amazon news: “In recent weeks, we’ve been able to further increase the restock limits for many sellers and intend to do the same for many more sellers early next year. We’re also excited to share that effective January 1, 2022, we’ll reduce the Inventory Performance Index (IPI) threshold for FBA storage limits to 400. With this IPI change, less than 10% of sellers will have storage volume limits.” Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Legoland CA has Barracuda Bay if you don’t mind full price and shipping. Limit 1. https://shop-california.legoland.com/collections/awesome-stuff/products/pirates-of-barracuda-bay1 point

I had hopes the same would happen to me on the Blacksmith Shop... NOPE 🤣! It shipped within 2 hours of placing the order LOL. From a deals perspective: Looks like I got $30 Kohl's Cash, $7.50 in Kohl's Rewards and 5% CouponCabin cash back so not too bad.1 point

hahaha, yeah, I had to edit it because I accidentally hit submit before finishing my reply, but we both came to the same conclusion. What gets me in some circles of the Lego community the focus so heavily on PPP not realizing that a 16 x16 plate =/= a 1x1 round plate and is not the best metric to determine the value of a set.1 point

I understand why everyone wants to use the PPP ratio, but sometimes it just doesn't fully reflect accurately what you are getting with some of these larger sets. (According to the weights on bricklink) 75192 Millennium falcon: 13150 grams / 28.99 lbs = $27.60 per lb of plastic 75252 Imperial Star Destroyer: 12480 grams / 27.51 lbs = $25.45 per lb of plastic 75313 AT-AT: 10708 grams / 23.61 lbs = $33.88 per lb of plastic 75309 Republic Gunship: 5620 grams / 12.39 lbs = $28.25 per lb of plastic I do find it interesting though that the AT-AT comes out to a good chunk higher price for the amount of material you get in the set. We all know there is the huge Disney/Star Wars tax, but I do agree that the AT-AT does appear to be unnecessarily expensive. I think that at the price of $700 it would be a bit more of a reasonable deal. That said, I did buy the set, and it's a beautifully big set as well, but I can understand why the idea of it being too expensive comes from. Sure, if you want to factor in inflation from 2017 the Millennium falcon would cost roughly $907 in todays rates. Which roughly equals out too $31.29 per lb of plastic. In all honesty, in those terms, the AT-AT really isn't that bad of deal. (obviously this is all subjective and everyone's value of worth is completely different.) But this puts it a little better in perspective about where Lego is coming up with the prices, and in all honestly, isn't super out of the line for them and still within reason for the other massive UCS sets that Lego has released recently. For comparison of other big sets: 10276 Colosseum: 10780 grams / 23.76 lbs = $23.15 per lb of plastic 10294 Titanic: 14000 grams / 30.86 lbs = $20.41 per lb of plastic1 point

For me, Jangbricks is a mellow fellow of a reviewer ....and sometimes he looks like how I feel. Ha. He can 'overfocus' in some areas or go on longer than a written review with a plentitude of images but at the end of the day he is an everyman sort of YouTuber. So long as he does not start shilling Raid Shadow Legends, I think we're fine. Now be sure to Like the video and smash that Subscribe button! Additionally, the part where he places the smaller non-UCS AT-AT underneath made the whole thing look like a mother protecting her cub. Aw.1 point

Yes, there are very few TRUE reviewers of LEGO sets. I am a strong believer in Conflict of Interest...ANYONE that gets something for free is not going to be able to be objective...the mere fact they pretend to be so is a huge mislead. In most other fields someone getting the product for free is a huge No No...consider reading an Amazon review or a Yelp review that starts w/ "so I got it for free/ YUP most folks stop reading right there. Its a sham really. Props to Jang. That said Jang's pet peeves are not everyone's pet peeves, so his constant fixation on certain elements can get a bit whiney; but he is consistent and his longevity makes him an excellent resource. He's also Local, well representing the Bay, CA, Americans, and Human Beings in general1 point

Jangs reviews are highly subjective which is fine. He focuses heavily on what he perceives as “The amount of stuff” you get for your money. It’s no surprise that he finds the AT-AT UCS set a poor value based on that metric. As someone who just did the deed in buying this set I tend to agree that it’s overpriced. I’m not sure the comparison to the UCS Falcon is fair. That’s a 2017 pre-Covid set. Inflation is bad across the board. If released today the UCS Falcon would be a $900 set. With that said UCS sets have always been a luxury item. The question is can you afford it and what is it worth to you. I’ve always wanted a minifig scale version of the AT-AT and this is as close as I’ll get.1 point

I had a McDonald's mobile order go to a restaurant 400+ miles away in Vansant, VA when I checked in to pick it up? And you'd think oh, that will auto cancel when I don't pick it up... nope. What a weird thing. Now I gotta call to get it fixed, I guess.0 points

Daughter tested positive today, fever , chills, sore throat , aches so far, had a few aerial gigs past few weekends so bound to have happened. I on the other hand was the lucky recipient of a 2nd minor toe surgery in last week for a jacked up growing nail and infection. Hadn't had enough medical issues this year...0 points
