What did you do in that instance? My worst spider wrap experience was when a Walmart clerk couldn't figure out how to get a spider wrap off of one of the older At-Ats that was on sale after xmas so decided that the best way to deal with it was to crush the box so much that she could get the spider wrap off without unlatching it.4 points

Dragging this thread out of the abyss. There's a new podcast called Brick Velocity that I have enjoyed listening to. I like hearing how and why others make their picks related to investing. He also gives specific set recommendations which I know can be rare at times. I will warn you, the intro and outro are crazy loud compared to the rest of the podcast.2 points

Billund, December 8, 2021: The LEGO Group today signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Vietnam Singapore Industrial Park Joint Venture Company Limited (VSIP) to build a new factory in Vietnam. The facility is planned to be the company’s first carbon neutral factory and will include investments in solar energy generation. The LEGO Group will invest more than US $1 billion in the 44-hectare site in the Binh Duong Province around 50km from Ho Chi Minh City and create up to 4,000 jobs over the next 15 years. Construction is set to begin in the second half of 2022 and production is due to start during 2024. If you want to add some of the more off-brand stores, here's my experience with a few of those: Blain's Fleet and Farm (or Farm and Fleet or Farm Fleet or Fleet Farm) - I never had any trouble with this site. They didn't always have great deals or tons of stock, but I never had any orders cancelled or accounts banned. Mills Fleet and Farm (or Farm and Fleet or Farm Fleet or Fleet Farm) - I got banned by this store a few years ago. They also have a different way of discouraging resellers...if you purchase a large quantity of LEGO, they tack on a gigantic freight shipping charge that kills the deal. This was a great site 4-5 years ago, but I haven't bought anything from them in at least several years. Theisens - I never had any trouble with this site either. They started putting in some quantity limits a year or two ago, but they will ship everything you buy (at least in my experience). Belks - I'm not sure if they had any deals this year, but I never had any trouble buying from them in the past.2 points

As for operating with a single account to stay within the vendor’s technically-enforced limits, I believe this is the current state of things. Cliff notes: you’ll be fine as long as you don’t go on a spending spree at Target.com, and try not to bring attention to your buying patterns by dealing with online customer service for small gripes that can be dealt with in store instead. Target - the easiest place to get banned based simply on purchase volume online and the most aggressive against resellers in store — employees trained to identify resellers loading up carts for example. Can still use red card in store after online ban, but using with a new email account will result in repeat ban — start receiving auto cancellations and email about possible issues including payment purchase method. Some people have bans lifted after a period in timeout. Others indefinitely. The amount of purchases that may identify you as a reseller and get a ban? One data point: I have been unable to purchase online going on 18 months now after two months of $5k purchases on the red card. Same red card still works fine in store. LEGO shop at home — with the purchase limits mechanics implemented a few years ago, it is much more difficult to get the SAH ban hammer. If you exceed a limit on any item based on past purchases of the same item, they will cancel your entire order. Be warned that if they cancel an order with a VIP Rewards purchase, the reward is not automatically credited back to your account. Also, if they cancel an item due to inventory issues, the system still tracks it as qty purchased. Qty purchased in brick and mortar stores that are purchased with VIP accounts are not counted towards SAH limits and and limits in store are done at the individual store’s discretion. If you do have to call customer service to resolve an issue, they do have easy visibility to all of your previous orders and will make comments about you “really liking LEGOs”. No indication that that is how the ban process starts, but unless you really have an issue that needs CS, might be best to just let the small things go. Amazon — shop away. Their limits are tracked to the second on a 168-hour FIFO. Limits apply and are tracked in that window only to items sold and shipped by Amazon.com. Buy as many third party items as you wish. Anecdotal stories of bans for excessive returns, but no clear information on the metrics used. Generally, probably best to save the returns for the really bad boxes. Creating multiple accounts will get noticed and is the quickest way to get the warning shot emails. Barnes and Noble — similar to LEGO, has a five qty per item lifetime limit online. Exceed that amount and just that item will be cancelled from the order. No reports of bans. In store purchases do not appear to be tied to online memberships as far as adding to your 5-count quantity. Walmart — most LEGO are limited to two per order, but they won’t say how often that limit is reset. Doing a couple of multiple limit orders in the same day has worked. Doing dozens has resulted in order cancellations of those specific items but no bans that I am aware of. Generally, I have found one limit order per day has never resulted in a cancellation. ShopDisney — some items have limits but they are selectively enforced. If you put in multiple limit orders at the same time, they might cancel those items. If you space them out, they will be fine. I ordered a dozen castles (limit one per customer) last year and they all went through. Sometimes two in two consecutive days. Costco — has item limits on some items, but I haven’t seen any on LEGOs. Even with items with limits, possible to space them out without issue. In store limits are usually “per day”. Best Buy — unsure on LEGO as I’ve never pushed the limits on them. In the past, I would make 50 purchases at a time of 2-dollar items that had limits and they would all go through. I have tried to make multiple purchases of Xbox consoles and those were cancelled. So YMMV. But no reports of bans. Anyways, those are my observations.2 points

Zavii has an extra $10 off if you spend over $100. Makes the 911 $100 and the Land Rover $125. I’ve always had an idea for a LEGO / Brickpicker specific podcast. I’ve just never had the time to produce it. I’d need lots of help. Basically a rotating group of people from here on a set of specific topics every week. I’m don’t mind participating in a podcast (I contribute to a couple of podcasts occasionally). But someone else would have to produce it.1 point

Backordered 71044 Disney Train and Station just got delivered. Ordered during VIP weekend. Seal code 47R1, so this had a recent production run. Perhaps only to fill backorders, still showing as Sold Out at LEGO Shop at Home and not in stock in my local store or at shopdisney.com.1 point

I am willing to bet $1 the main reason for cancellation was a feedback from their focus group along the line of "How come Santa sits around in a chair while Mrs Claus is doing ALL the works" ?1 point

I'm extremely bullish on the theme overall as well. Might not end up as strong as Minecraft but it could be close. The AMZ sales ranks are just too strong. Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk1 point

I would be very surprised if TLG put this into production at this point. They are such sticklers for testing and making sure their products are as good as possible. But who knows. It's all speculation at this point but it seems like LEGO is having issues keeping up with demand (no surprise there). From fulfillment issues (lots of reports of people receiving multiple at-ats and home alone sets) to production. I have come across more minor errors in sets over the past 6 months than I've seen before. Off the top of my head the last 2 decent size sets we built both had issues. Medeival castle came with 30 DBG 1x4 bricks and no red brown 1x4s. We just put together the elf clubhouse and it didn't have any 1x1 black plates, only reddish brown. Nothing build breaking like the above issues but definitely sloppy. My guess is it is simply due to trying to cut corners to make up for supply chain delays - just get it done so the stock is there - but still very unlike TLG I will be very interested to see if LEGO responds to Tips n Bricks, they have a pretty large reader base and have put in a request for comment through the Lego Ambassador Network.1 point

I know it's listed on the Brickfanatics list as going. Of the expansions, I like to think that anyone who has Mario is going to want Bowser, so even if some more stock comes in, this set seems like a good one to have.1 point

I have also seen 3 reviews on the new Home Alone set talking about issues with the dark brown bricks used to build the outer house walls having color issues and that they are almost translucent. Not sure if lego has started using their eco friendly bricks yet.1 point

Yikes, that is bogus bricks level of bad. I wonder is the parts were limited to just the T2 sets, ive never encountered Lego bricks that look like that when bent or that dont have the normal Lego "clutch"1 point

I've bought a fair bit from Kohl's but tend to not push my luck as they have some of the very best online deals so I don't want to get banned. This season I did three orders for approx $1k of sets on different days, went through no problem. A couple years ago I pushed it with a couple of 3k orders and one was put on hold and eventually went through after I sweet talked CS, the other was just cancelled with no other repercussions. I try to limit my quantity on any one set in any one order to 20 or less even though you can technically add much more.1 point

noticing that amazon has the bold green Arrives before Christmas now under each seller (or not) for each listing. If you are selling FBM and not sure why ur not having many sales, might want to see if you show up under your listings as having your item arrive in time for christmas or not. if not, you should spend some time tweaking your shipping settings. beginning by making sure you have set the default handling time from 5 days to 1 day. 5 day handling time lol.1 point

I like this too. It's different. A lot of these look lame when placed all in a row. This seems reminiscent of the Flatiron building in that it has a funky shape to it to fit the available lot. No one remembers a perfect building just like no one remembers a perfect tree… (at least that's what I tell my wife when I buy trees on clearance)1 point

The last two were more traditional and well boring. I’d include Corner Garage in the boring camp as well. The truth is at $200 this one looks compromised at best. A truly terrible design.1 point

i actually really like this one. the last two for me have been pretty ho-hum. i also am curious what two of these could produce.1 point

The beautiful Diner was panned early on for not fitting the classic theme, and holds poor reviews today compared to older modulars. But it seems to have opened the door for sets that move away from the older, blander colored, sets. This would have been panned even harder than the diner had it been released first. My favorite line from the Brickset review: They can just go out to the sidewalk and pretend it's San Francisco Just drop some of these on the sidewalk1 point
