Well, I tentatively accepted a job offer today. I'm negotiating some health insurance sticking points but I'm going to take it. I interviewed last week with a corporate firm of 1.2K with offices across the US and in Spain. They also recently bought up more firms so they seem to do a lot of acquisitions. The interview went great, and I was offered a position 40 minutes in, with a title that was above what I applied for. They even threw in a corner office. I liked the manager and also I liked some of their work that they are doing. However, the salary was rather low. In fact, it was below my salary range by $7,000. My wife suggested I reach out to a smaller, local firm where I had two interviews but they were unable to hire me due to the pandemic. Luckily, it turns out that someone had left the firm to move out of state and they were in need of help. After two interviews and emails back and forth, I got an offer that was the top end of what I asked for. In fact, it was $11,500 more than the other corporate firm. That pretty much sealed the deal, especially since we just had a baby. It's a workers market out there right now but yeah, time to get back into the office. Maybe corporate life isn't for me...10 points

Couple of observations after going Walgreens hunting yesterday and today: - Someone went for all the 90% clearance in my neck of the woods. Only managed to find the DOTS adventures bracelet (41918) for $0.60 at one store (90% off its $5.99 RRP), but that was also THE ONLY STORE that clearanced that item - in all other stores they rang up RRP - One store had 76140 Iron Man Mechs for $6.99, but all other stores that had them had them for RRP $9.99 - 11008 Bricks and Houses consistently rings up as 60287 City Tractor - The pricing on 60287 City Tractor and 21171 The Horse Stables is for sure a pricing error - it is not ringing up as any kind of sale. - Where 60287 & 21171 should have been $19.99 but ring up for $9.99, 76171 Miles Morales Mech rings up for $19.99, but should have been ringing up for $9.99. This leads me to believe someone in HQ accidentally(?) swapped the RRPs on 21171 and 76171 (note the last 3 digits are the same). The same sleepy-head probably also copy & pasted the price on 60287 to 11008, but forgot to update the description (hence it ringing up as 60287). Taking it one step further, here is what I think happened: 1. Mr/Mrs Sleepy-head accidentally swapped 76171 and 21171, leading to 21171 being priced $9.99. 2. They then realized that 21171, 60287 and 11008 were all sets with the same dimension boxes, same RRPs etc, so they copied the record from 76171 to create the 60287 record. 3. Then they proceeded to update the second record to 60287, and made all the changes necessary (GTIN/UPC, description etc.) 4. They made a copy again, now of the 60287 record, to prep 11008, and added the GTIN/UPC. 5. While they were doing that, that cute girl/rugged handsome bachelor from finance came by and they totally got distracted. After 15-20 minutes of flirtation, now totally aroused, they decided to accept the offer to "let's grab a drink right now" . They quickly pressed Save and left in a horny frenzy, not realizing they forgot to update the 11008 record with 11008's description. 6. The reseller community POUNCED.4 points

Agreed. Thanks OP in Daily Deals. Walgreens secret clearance. All 50% off. All unmarked on the shelf. I visited six stores, all within an eight mile radius of my house. One had nothing. The other five each had one set. I have three more stores to check tomorrow while I’m working (I’m an Account Rep for a large soda distributor and I have those three stores on my route). I like the City Tractor set at the current usual sale price of $16, so finding more at $10 is a nice bonus. The Minecraft set was a nice surprise as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk3 points

I adore these and wish to see more sets which celebrate our various cultures. After all humanity is at its best when we create such as through the medium of art. Speaking of which, a concept for the LEGO company's Art theme would be individual portraits of the main protagonists from "Journey to the West" that alternatively could be put together to amass a single large illustration showing all four traveling together against a brilliant background.2 points

The big take away for me is that LEGO is looking at an app-based subscription service with tiers, and buying some out of production sets, exclusives, GWP, and lots of other items may be going behind a paywall soon.1 point

It's been about a year since I've ordered from WM, but I used to do 50-60 orders back to back without any problem. Sent from my LM-V600 using Tapatalk1 point

Your comment reminded me of the original Playmobil Victorian Mansion play set released when I was a kid. There was the main three floor build one could assemble. Then there were separate add-on kits such as another "floor", deck, room, or whatever. In other words there was the opportunity to keep extending or changing the base structure into however you wanted. It would be interesting to see Lego do something similar perhaps.1 point

Haven't done it in a while, but I used to take it apart and build through the directions up to where they stopped. Usually there are places online to account for how many bags. Then list on Ebay as "complete but not guaranteed". Explain your attempt to verify, show detailed pictures. With a proper explanation and pics it will sell reasonably well. You could just as easily "just" take pics and list -- no need to try verifying.1 point

I've been looking at these as well. It's got a bit of a doll house vibe for Harry Potter rather than the front face castle display. I'm trying to see how the dorms and the Flying Lesson fit into how they set up this bunch:1 point

FYI My orders in July went through at 12 each, but then were canceled a day later. Wish they would just put in a limit so we don't have to guess.1 point

Hello everyone! Been away for a long time and I am amazed to see the sets Lego is coming out with! I am still sitting on two 101088 Death Stars and other sets that I have in storage. Was pleased to see that the values have gone up for many sets. Dumb question but what happened to the brickfolio?1 point

How much resellers decide to push it are risks they should be willing to assume. If the upside of snagging an extra 12 - 14 units of one SKU outweighs getting the ban hammer, go nuts. My reply had more to do with this sense of entitlement. I read it as: 'Hey, for everyone who already f*cked up, how far did you go before you f*cked yourself? I am in the middle of skirting the line and need to know.'1 point

Wow over a year later ha! Our basement has been very slow progress. Finished up the drywall & mud/taping. Before and after pic of the Doorway and Barn door. The 2 pics of the sills are before I finished the tape/mudding. Still dreading the wall cleaning/painting, but that won’t take too long. The barn door will keep all the systems and storage on one side and leaves us with 750sqft of finished space. Next up will be finding wood for the sills, about 35 ft of length. Thinking about going with a live edge look but still undecided.1 point

Visited some museums and battlefields in Normandy on a road trip with my son. I was based in Bayeux one of the first towns liberated by the Allies. Here are the places I visited in 1.5 days. Sainte-Mère-Église, Airborne Museum, Memorials dedicated to East Company near Brecourt Manor, D-day experience museum, Pointe du Hoc, Omaha Beach Memorial. On day 2, American Normandy Cemetery, Overlord Museum, Pegasus Bridge and Memorial, Merville Battery. The museums I visited were all excellent and I wasn't disappointed. I only wish I had more time to spare.1 point

Saturday after midnight, my wife's water broke. Sunday morning at 244 AM, she delivered a healthy baby girl. Monday evening, I had a wonderful delicious steak dinner made by the hospital to celebrate. So yeah, super eventful. Sent from my Pixel 3a XL using Tapatalk1 point
