People really need to chill out. Maybe we all just need to talk this out a bit.8 points

It's been done here before, 3 or 4 times. A big bust... Take it to the complaint thread.8 points

Can we please stop with the conversations in this thread? Tired of getting deal notifications that aren't deals. And just so I am not adding to the problem, Army Airforce Exchange has the large Technic Volvo dump truck 20% off for those eligible to shop there. https://www.shopmyexchange.com/lego-technic-volvo-articulated-hauler-6-x-6-in-/2398459 Sent from my SM-G960U1 using Tapatalk6 points

my two cents, Jeff tried different formats over the years to varying degrees of success ( honestly most didn't gain traction for one reason or the other), though keeping the DD in one thread instead of a new one every day was a great idea imo ( for those who go back that far). The DD is by far the most followed thread and it is inevitable that ppl will start chatting and talking and while I understand it is not ideal to everyone, it does keep the site relevant and going. Mods will take a harder stance come the holiday season when deals will be plentiful and restrict sideline chatter. And yes that will include the annual b****ching on CM deals or lack-of .5 points

Batman Cowl - 76182 - 50% off at Zulilly - $29.97 plus shipping but it was like $7 for 3. https://www.zulily.com/p/lego-dc-batman-76182-batman-cowl-476321-93737046.html?search_pos=1&search_page=1&fromSearch=true5 points

I still recall the days when posting about 70% off Lego at that one chain was frowned upon since it is a regional one4 points
-
It doesn't make everyone happy, nobody used it when it existed. Mods just had to constantly move stuff, since everyone still posted in the Daily Deals Thread. We could turn moderation on the thread, but then stuff wouldn't be posted until approved. negating the purpose of the post in the first place.4 points

Finished Maid on Netflix. I'm Chinese but my wife is white, and we both grew up poor. This show hit home for the both of us.2 points

Lots of people do have alerts set up for this thread to keep up with deals. There are literally hundreds of other threads to hold conversations in why must conversations be held in this one? Also I don't mind MINIMUM discussions related to deals posted. Examples such as "Not really a great deal. Has been this price for months at x and y." Or "retail price is actually ___ so not a deal." Or even announcing that hard to find sets are back in stock (even if at regular retail price). Thank you to everyone that attempts to keep unrelated discussions to a minimum. Thank you to everyone that posts deals (even when people occasionally respond in a rude manner). And thank you mods2 points
-
The debate then becomes what is a deal. Is brick and mortar clearance a deal? Are in stock notices with no discount for hard to find items a deal? Does some insane coupon stacking at a regional chain count as a deal? You all will survive some random chatter in the daily deals thread, I promise.2 points

Seriously, this thread has been used for discussions since before folks critiquing it for such were even here. Now Sticking it to folks who think they should only get to capitalize on deal notifications like this is their personal reseller opportunist hotline, I'm in for that!2 points

This was probably already mentioned but I can't keep up with all of the "deals" being posted today, but Lego has HP Icons with $25 Honey and 2 Promos. YMMV2 points

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned before but part of the Target $10 gift card for $50 spending gives about 31% off the HP Clock Tower, 75948 ($62 after gc): https://www.target.com/p/lego-harry-potter-and-the-goblet-of-fire-hogwarts-clock-tower-castle-playset-with-minifigures-75948/-/A-75667073#lnk=sametab2 points

The Haunted House is the superior set. Both have their benefits and the tower has some interesting techniques with some lousy 1x1/1x2 brick usage. But the tower is designed to be something different and it isn't haunted at all, it's just an attraction. The haunted house fits in with other themes, displays great by itself, has glow in the dark ghosts, and can have Santa on top of the chimney. The green tape is for a piece of art or if I decide to hang up the larger mirror waiting in the adjacent room. Yay LEGO!2 points

I fbm sets over $200 for that very reason. Although with returns auto approved and refund at first scan depending on return reason Amazon is sucking more and more. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

I continue to recommend Maid to almost everyone but it does have a lot of trigger warnings. Now I am on to Dopesick on Hulu which also may be hard for those that suffer with addiction, but Michael Keaton is great in it so far.1 point

some potential ideas to solve the problem not really : ) - rename it the 'LEGO Daily Deals thread sponsored by Meijer' Everyone was so upset at seeing deals they couldn't get that you all had to make a separate Meijer thread. buy the way viva la Santa bucks - unsubscribe everyone from the daily lego deals thread. like when the system used to mess up and you all had to unsubscribe everyone as it was too stressed. then everyone had to sign up again. if you unsubscribe everyone perhaps that will slow the alerts down to be nothing and that would solve the problem1 point

This man churns his own butter, hitches his own wagon, and makes his own path in that sweet Amish paradise. Technology be damned! I also don’t use the alerts feature and don’t really feel like I’ve missed much. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

we can be liberal and include all deals. I dont think anyone minds a deal that they cant replicate. With "minimum" discussion, it is impossible to define, leaving it to everyones better judgement, which some have and some lack.1 point

I agree and this thread has always been this way as quoted the rules say keep it to a minimum it does not say you cannot talk about deals at all a change in stance on this would be something that brickpicker mods would have to decide and change the policy I personally like it the way it is and for those of you wanting a deal with this post - cross posted from the retiring soon thread Lego 75936 Jurassic Park T Rex Rampage is at Barnes & Noble and nowhere else that I can find. It has gone from 60 copies to 20 today. I imagine it will be out of stock today. It just flipped to sold out at lego and except in lego stores is pretty much gone. The deal is if you were wanting one of these for personal like me getting it at retail is a deal to me at least : ). Of course it could come back.1 point

Lots of people do have alerts set up for this thread to keep up with deals, just because you don't doesn't mean that no one else should. There are literally hundreds of other threads to hold conversations in why must conversations be held in this one? This is a very disappointing viewpoint coming from a mod. I've never set alerts on this thread for 8 years and I have zero issues keeping up with it. I don't have alerts on any threads. You can deal with it that way too.1 point
-
Simply categorically false; because many have alerts set to this thread. ...and a hello to the hundreds of folks who checked their "Deals' notification to see my post...sorry to add to your disappointment and frustration but IF folks actually think this is the place to post "discussion" we need to nip this in the bud. If your post does not have an actual deal...then hundreds of BPers are cussing your post out every freakin time sorry, cuss away1 point

Your math is wrong, much like your continued conversation after I politely asked people not to. You add sales tax onto your discounted price, but not to the regular RRP price. This cuts down on your answer for what the discount actually is. It looks like you are using a sales tax rate of 7.75%. If you add 7.75% tax onto the $90 RRP to make it $96.98 and you are buying the set for $63.70 then your discount is 34% not 29%. Don't worry though, math is hard for some, keep working at it and you will get it eventually. Sent from my SM-G960U1 using Tapatalk1 point

Add another $20-21 of any Lego items to qualify for a 2nd Gwp (Rebuildable Flying Car)1 point

It had been $50 for a long time "in store". According to BS, it went back to $60 in the last couple weeks. Maybe that's an old sticker?1 point

This is awesome. What a trip down memory lane. This contest was fun. We should do it again. I chose Jabba’s Palace & Daily Bugles. Looking at eBay sold listings it looks like I picked a couple of winners. I didn’t look at Amazon prices but I imagine they’re pretty high. I remember buying Jabba’s Palace on clearance for $50. Think I had around 20 at one point, and as usual I probably sold too early. Good times. I’m surprised I didn’t go with Joker Steamrollers. [emoji2957] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

I'm thinking Lego removes the retiring soon tags - on some sets - to avoid panic buying and stockpiling from resellers. I'm sure some of these sets will disappear without the tags after the holiday. Some may say sold out, backordered, etc. It's been an interesting 18 months, supply chain shortages, delivery and production delays. I'm confident some of these sets will sell well in the next 8 weeks - even if not retiring, esp GBH.1 point

That thing literally looks like a Lego car my daughter built when she was 3. Might just be the worst GWP ever haha. Sent from my SM-G960U1 using Tapatalk1 point

Just a reminder to everyone - and this isn’t directed at any one in particular as we’ve all been guilty lately - this thread is for posting of deals. We’ve been lax with the cross talk lately, but as the holidays approach, and potential deals come around, let’s keep it to a minimum. Instead, I encourage you to check out all the other forums we have. There’s a topic for just about every set out there. And if there’s not, create one! We have topics on speculating what’s going to retire, investment strategies, clearance at individual stores. Please go check them out. Thank you!1 point

How right you are. Although my second clip is not talking about the MF but the original Taj Mahal I bought used for $1,000 a few years earlier. I still have never owned a 10179. It would be fun to get back into the videos again, but I have had to take time off. On an exciting note, I have amassed $60k in cash from Lego sales this year to build myself a new commercial kitchen.1 point

It hurts when the scammers get away hitting you with those big expensive sets. I have five cases in one week in Amazon, ranging from $670 to $2500 each. I do FBA on Amazon, they classified each of them as customer damaged return, sticking me with the loss. Some of them were even stickered with "slibuy's stickers, not to mention the one that had a goodwill label on it.0 points
