I built the haunted tower/house over the last 2 weeks. It was a nice, interesting build and I really appreciate Lego trying to add a story into the instructions. The elevator mechanism is cool and I look forward to motorizing it. Yay LEGO!8 points

This is awesome. What a trip down memory lane. This contest was fun. We should do it again. I chose Jabba’s Palace & Daily Bugles. Looking at eBay sold listings it looks like I picked a couple of winners. I didn’t look at Amazon prices but I imagine they’re pretty high. I remember buying Jabba’s Palace on clearance for $50. Think I had around 20 at one point, and as usual I probably sold too early. Good times. I’m surprised I didn’t go with Joker Steamrollers. [emoji2957] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk6 points

But they do collect DNA samples in the store to ensure only one GWP per family.2 points

I was going to say 10000% but I wasn't sure if it was possible to go over 1000%.2 points

Thanks! I was able to snag two at the only store that had them around me for a total of $40.26 with the Red Card savings.2 points

The Wife prohibited me from buying from them because it took almost three months to get a refund for the damaged (wet boxes) set. Hope it your case gets resolved quicker.1 point

Both are great sets. But for display, the older one. The new Haunted House is just too large and doesn't have as much outside character. It's very imposing, but has really cool building techniques, while the smaller house is like a typical modular build that happens to open like a book opposed to horizontal levels. I've built and kept the larger house assembled because of the tower repetition. Careful with the brown bricks in the older haunted house as they're brittle. A few of mine have broken, but it just adds to the spooky-ness. Sent from my Pixel 4a using Tapatalk1 point

unless you're arm sweeping at a local honey pot clearance isle; about 30% is the best you're see on any mainstream retailer site; especially for desirable sets. Target still has the once a year (or so) 50% off on specific sets (usually a mid-size set) and some select sets hit 50% off on black friday deals. 50%+ off on modulars seems like Exciter territory (read: time machine)1 point

They can keep a lot more now in production that's for sure. Gingerbread house, croc loco and London bus are still extremely popular sets. They will keep them available for a while yet. I fell into the trap again, Lego sticks a retiring soon tag only to remove it and change there minds when it sells like hot cakes.1 point

If you are how they end up looking (shipping them), I would box each separately, then box together.1 point

He's fine…just needs to remember to drink some juice before leaving the outpatient center. This happened two colonoscopies ago, and it's become quite the embellished story in our family…going from, "Dad felt crummy at Walmart and mom had to walk him to the car; to Dad almost passed out in the express lane at WM and mom accidentally left cash behind; to mom almost got robbed and Dad almost DIED at WM!"1 point

I hope nothing serious was found and your spouse is doing alright. With that said being this time of the year with everything going on, my brain went to this bit of dialogue from one of my favorite horror films.1 point

I remember @Val-E ran a competition few years ago, was good fun, plus @tabbyboy discussions lol. We need both of them back to add some more UK / EU Pessimism lol1 point

Hey odysea11, congrats on your 5th place! I had forgotten about this as well and it's interesting to see how our investments have done.1 point

Thanks for the bump, I forgot about this! That was fun! I wish we did something like this every year...not only fun and challenging, but also supplied some interesting data...I was pretty proud of my 5th place finish... My $1000 investment would be valued at $3050 now (7yrs later)...it had reached that ROI 3-4 years ago. Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk1 point

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I came back to check how I did. I was 3rd LAST in this game but right now my sets are worth $3,015. 😆 I should have invested in more 9494 Anakin's Interceptor instead of the Goblin King Battles. Had I invested $1,000 in 24 Anankin's Inerceptors $40.91 at the time, my portfolio would be worth $6,120 today. The winner IAmElim invested in 28 Wolverine Chopper Showdown 6866 and his portfolio is worth about $5,000.1 point

HP Chamber of Secrets is $95.99 (MSRP 129.99). Depending on what HP Dorms does, this might be a better deal than buying from LEGO Shop at Home (given that the Honey 20% back deal ended).1 point

The car set with carry case is back in stock. While I don't know if they will make money, I plan to donate them to the children's hospital toy collection. It let me add 12 to the card but I broke it up to 2 orders of 6. https://www.walmart.com/ip/LEGO-City-Great-Vehicles-LEGO-City-Vehicles-Gift-Set-66684/2855905231 point

YMMV Target has Sanctum Workshop price mistake 50% off in the Holiday toy catalog (see pic) and on the shelf tag. It rings up for MSRP so requires a trip to customer service desk. DPCI is correct. https://www.target.com/p/lego-super-heroes-spider-man-at-the-sanctum-workshop-76185-building-kit/-/A-80130441#lnk=sametab1 point

Well. The end is here. The last Kmart in CA is closing its doors, and my local honeyhole of the last 6 years finally closed up shop a few months back. It was a good run Kmart, I'll always remember fondly the thousands of dollars of free LEGO you bequeathed me.1 point

Purchased two #71044 Disney Train Stations (Train Station bags only) on eBay some time ago. Finally put together and modified to be a complete and enclosed building. They are essentially mirrored from one side to the next. I also expanded the taller tower a little bit and now fits a total of four windows on the roof instead of the original just having two. Plus, I made it to be modular as well. I did not have to use too many extra pieces from my bulk, mainly tile pieces and the train tracks. And I was able to integrate the cobblestone tiles from the GWP Harry Potter Diagon Ally #40289. I do enjoy train station buildings and I think it looks pretty sharp.1 point
