I shared the article because I thought it was hilarious while also dealing with a serious issue. I mean they used Grogu as bait, who could resist! On the serious side, I don’t know how much crap is stolen and moved through the marketplaces, but I often wonder when I see a post on OfferUp or FB marketplace that shows the product in the passenger seat or propped on the dash and some that even have the spider wiring attached. My inclination is to think that B&M and online businesses are losing product to theft at much higher rates than they’d like to admit and struggle to keep track with the labor shortages. I think it’s complicated—yea, there’s brazen dudes who just walk out the door with a cartful of products or snipe packages from porches , but there’s also the product lost at the self checkout kiosks that people just miss and don’t scan. I imagine a ton of stock is lost to inadvertent theft like that and isn’t categorized as such. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

i read the article. So you resell lego online, therefore you must be a criminal. just over 40% of us homicides go unsolved every year. maybe that would be a good place to start with detective work instead of making an operation out of a small time hood who scammed about as much lego as i sell black friday - cybermonday. the upshot of these stories is next time you go to make a private craigstlist or offerup, facebook mp sale you pull up to the meeting location and their is a police cruiser asking to see your invoice on the parisian restaurant you are selling to make sure you aren't fencing stolen goods.2 points

For those who keep track of these things: The above was a false alarm. Sets arrived in a big Walmart box from a store in Greenfield, IN. Funny though that FedEx showed Romeoville, IL as the sending party.2 points

yeah vip cards were high, plus led to the other vip code for the stand or whatever it was that went for like 125. Worst dollar return ratio promo still goes down with the stupid red and teal bricks. Like $20 on $200 buy in. I'm at 50 or so ugly cars, guess can rebuild the worlds ugliest mega car...2 points

I read the article also. Never once did I come to the conclusion of your first sentence. Your last paragraph is also just as bad. This guy owned a re-sale shop and hired thieves to steal for him. That's an organized crime ring. Also, this investigation started because of other complaints. Not a simple online/meet up purchase. What dollar amount is needed before police investigate? 100k?1 million?1 point

seems small potatoes $10K of lego? anything for a story these days. pathetic small amount of sets if you ask me in their glory photo. i wonder how much detective time was spent on this - prolly more than $10k but washingpost is owned by amazon so it makes sense.1 point

California was a little talked about Kmart hub for a long time. Back when there was like 100 stores left, like 12 of them alone were in CA. Until a few months ago there was something like 4-6 holding on until this final purge. Haven't bought any LEGO from them since real early this year though (got some retired Jurassic World sets for 40% off at the Long Beach location before it closed, final goodbye gift)1 point

there used to be 2 gingerbread house listings. one which i've always been gated on and a second alternative listing i could list on that was deleted back in March. a bigger issue than gating is amazon (the seller) still selling retired sets at msrp like 75248 resistance awing and last years harry potter advent calendar both in stock from amazon.com the seller now for months on end.1 point

Agreed, Block and move on. No need to engage in chit chat, always act professional in messages even if person is an idiot. If sale has already taken place, only option you have is to do a partial refund or accept return, the former being the easiest and less likely to end up with a damaged return.1 point

Buyer buys HP Book of Monsters from me for $47. Gets item and then sends me this.... I received the box today. I feel completely ripped off though. Only yday, I realized that the set is available for $19.99 on Lego's website !!!!! And Paid more than twice to buy it from you. https://www.lego.com/en-us/product/the-monster-book-of-monsters-30628 If you click on that link it brings up some old webpage when that set was a free GWP. Notice you can not purchase the item. My response: This set has beet sold out and retired for many months. I just searched Lego website and nothing came up at all. Not sure where you are seeing it for sale for $20. You can return the set if you feel ripped off as long as you have not opened up the box at all. Meaning it needs to still be factory sealed as it was sent to you. (Then I saw the link he sent) which I had not seen upon my first response. So I sent this note after viewing the link: What you're showing with that link isn't even something you can buy. Try to add that to your cart. That's some kind of old left over screen page from when it was a free item. Sorry for your confusion but that item is not for sale on Lego.com. Again, you are welcome to return the item if you're not satisfied. TY Then he sends me this: I had promised my daughter this set and her birthday is tomorrow. No point sending it back at this point, but lesson learnt for next time 😞 I mean, even if this was true and it was available on Lego.com for $20 (which it is not), that really isn't my problem. But I have free returns on all my ebay listings. I simply want customers happy. So he can return the item for free if he wants to and I'll pay for the shipping. If this guy leaves me bad feedback for ripping him off I'm gonna be pissed as I have 22 years without a single negative feedback.1 point
