  1. ALVIN!!!!!!!!!!!! I have no idea why I was so into Titanic as a kid, but I was a bit obsessed. I remember I had this weird punch out paperboard model kit of both the ship AND the wreckage. This was all before the movie. My second cousin, a Harvard Marine Biologist, went gone down in Alvin to study the worms that live near the midatlantic ridge so it was very exciting to me. In middle school as an art class project our grade did a huge undersea mural along a wall in the school and I drew the shipwreck of the titanic in hilarious detail (everyone else drew fish).

  8. it never was retiring according to any reputable source. this is an amazon exclusive, well at least amazon says it is but its also available at legoland stores also from time to time but not walmart, not target or kohls. same as darth vader's castle - another amazon exclusive that IS retiring and will do extremely well.

  9. We liked the ending. It took us by surprise.

  10. I liked it too, I thought it was pretty good. Did you watch "I Care A Lot"? I thought it was also pretty good as a thriller. It has Rosamund Pike in it from "Gone Girl".

  11. Is it tho? Don't think that's supposed to be the grand staircase. I believe the staircase went from one level to another level below it. Not 6 stories of the ship. Also here is a GWP idea. When Robert Ballard discovered the sunken Titanic he used a special submarine. How about a model of the submarine used to discover the Titanic as a GWP? I know everyone wants a iceberg or a lifeboat. But highly unlikely either of those will happen.

  15. I only ordered 1 online, couldn’t risk another Target ban for this, and it arrived today in a box the size of a coffee table stuffed with air pillows with seals intact. I think they may have run out of proper size boxes and thus the disclaimer was added to the listing on Monday that they may ship unboxed. I guess these are the new UMHC in that every reseller got some cheap.

  20. My Harry & Hermione were scheduled to arrive today. I got nervous and checked my Arlo. Looks like a box big enough for Corner Garage/T. rex Rampage, etc. At least it's better than a shipping label on the Lego box! On the bright side, it's a beautiful day in suburban Boston.

  22. Mine have all been arriving in the same 21x15x12 boxes either packed to the gills with airbags, or with no protection at all. Despite my ghetto FedEx guy throwing these like troy aikman they are arriving in pretty good shape.

  23. Mine arrived today in a box I can only assume they use for shipping out surf boards, which I will definitely take over what you received. Did they at least throw in the obligatory two air pillows?

  27. Today I tried something different and set up a Lego booth at a local indoor flea market that is held three times per year. I advertised on local Facebook buy/sell groups for about a month leading up to the sale. It seemed to drum up a lot of interest since many people told me that my booth was the only reason they came to the sale. I choose this particular date since it’s right before the holiday shopping season and advertised it as such. Pros...the sale was located less than a mile from my home, so very minimal transportation issues. Lots of traffic and networking opportunities. I had some business cards printed up and handed them out. Cons...lots of prep, from pricing research to literally pricing everything, boxing everything up for transport, set up, and take down. Also, the sale only ran for six hours, from 8am-2pm. Would have been nice to go to at least 4pm. My goal was to focus on small stocking stuffers to medium sets that are priced well for gifting, and it seemed to work. I brought a few large exclusives, but mainly just to draw attention to the booth. I priced my retired sets about 20-35% below eBay sold prices, and my non retired sets below regular retail, while still maintaining an acceptable margin. Surprisingly, I didn’t have many people trying to negotiate, as many realized my pricing was more than fair. I was a little worried about that since it was a flea market / garage sale type environment. In six hours I did just over $900 in sales, mostly the small to medium sized sets I was hoping to move. All in all it was a pretty decent experience, which I will most likely try again in the future. The next sale is in January, which I’ll skip. The following sale after that is in March, which should be a decent opportunity since people will be getting their tax returns and will have some extra cash to spend.

  29. 3 of the 4 that have arrived (so far) are all unsealed (all seals) Statistically, this simply does not happen. I call shenanigans on Target!

  30. This is a first…only ordered the HP set. It came in a big plastic bag. I’ll have to go through to make sure the set is complete. 6 other smashed target boxes arrived by UPS.

  32. Harry & Hermione arrived. Shipped in a box too small w/o packing, laid diagonally (not diagon alley 😛) and all 4 seals were popped. Glad it's to keep & build.
