But this recent meeting included an unusual number of names apparently absent on that day. Cooper announced the names carefully: Phil McCracken, Eileen Dover, Suk Mahdik, Ophelia McCaulk, Don Kedick and Wayne Kuhr. don kedick lol7 points

I did my part. I served 12 years, ending my career with Desert Storm. Feel free to list what you have done for your country below. At 60 years old and a disabled vet, I'm done my time.7 points

To clarify what I said earlier. I didnt mean to say you're not entitled to your opinion on the war because everyone is thanks to the great freedom we get to enjoy. What I meant was telling a guy or gal (prefered pronoun) that may have spent an entire 20 year career deploying, training, sacrificing that it was all for nothing is not okay. I regret that many didnt get to see the positives that came with US forces on the ground. If you do find yourself having that conversation with a service member or veteran wade in cautiously and with respect. I do not communicate in any other forum or social media platform as I'm not fond of the interactions that occur. I argue that bp'ers are the most polite and respectful individuals I've come across on the web for a group of people that upcharge people on kids toys. Recently some serious topics have come up and in general communication has been free and without insult, mostly.3 points

Thanks for the info. I will dump the lone one I have and get the new one for personal build. Appreciate it.1 point

Just an FYI it was not an enjoyable build experience IMO. All black, trans stickers on trans pieces, and very fragile pieces fall off if you touch it. I am hoping that with the new one that they made it more sturdy.1 point

Reminds of this. Still can't believe this made it on the air.1 point

Basically a blue house. Least different than his workshop. I can only assume Santa wasn't allowed in the 18+ elf clubhouse and needed his own crib.1 point

to be fair 99.9% of info does come from LEGO employees. Just depends on how high up they are and what their level of fucks given is.1 point

If applying my statement to the current discussion it would translate to, “those who have not served in the armed forces should not say they know what it’s like to serve”. Anyone really want to disagree with that? I stand by my statement and the literal English translation of said words. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Last year, the set sold somewhere in the neighborhood of 175k units on Amazon in the U.S. When you factor in the number that were sold through Lego.com, Walmart.com, Target.com, BestBuy.com, all of the independent dealers, and all of the thousands of big box brick & mortar stores (Walmart, Target, Meier, etc.), this is a set that has enormous appeal and sells in huge volumes. Resellers would have to be buying this set in enormous volumes to make any kind of waves that would be noticed by TLG and I don't think that there are enough resellers with access to the sources that would be needed to buy this set in those kind of volumes.1 point

Brickpicker it not an echo chamber, or slowly becoming one. Not sure where you two are getting your definitions. I've spent many hours on various message boards as both a lurker and poster. This place is as far as it gets from group think. Kind of a hidden gem really. Props to both the mods and members for making that possible.1 point

Isn't the term echo chamber used to describe a place where everyone shares the same ideas and points of view? It seems there are varied points of view on all subjects, even which Lego sets will be good investments.1 point

"The loudest one in the room is the weakest one in the room." — Frank Lucas. Sadly its becoming clear BP is slowly becoming an echo chamber. keyboard warriors looking to pad each other on the back. How about try stroking your ego on someone in person for a change and see how that works out for you. Try doing something for your country in the now, rather than complain about it on a Lego investing website. A very close friend of my is being deployed in the near future. Where you may ask? Afghanistan. Its not over, it will never be over. At least with this current mindset. Everyone trying to scramble and understand how why who what when. Anger, blame, constant finger pointing. Its pathetic, all just catalyst in the equation of life. Unless there is a shift in our collective thought process, it will be the same players just a different day on the calendar. Not until we as a nation are comfortable truly promoting peace, our path is clear. Here's a novel idea, why not start healing our own domestic tragedies? Maybe by truly caring for the indigenous people who once roamed this beautiful land we all love. You know, one of the greatest tragedies in the history of the US no one likes to talk about. Oh, unless its justified through our own gain, looking at you Louisiana purchase. How about we try to curb systemic racism and lift our brethren from the depths? Lots of talk about criminal and being held accountable. All this coming from people living on stolen land. SMH1 point

Too many Afghan civilians & American soldiers lost their lives in this pointless conflict. The scum that profited of this misery sure as hell didn't mourn for them. Terrorism is an ideology, just like communism, veganism or nihilism, not something you can grasp and destroy. You can't bomb terrorism. You can only change the local circumstances, so that the ideology becomes obsolete. This change would have been an early withdrawal, they should have never started it in the first place, but that wasn't up to the people. It's too late for that now, over 20 years have passed & the objective (defeating terrorism) was a complete failure. When things got out of control it's debatable who became the villain in this conflict, with over 300k civilian casualties, women, children. Take a moment to imagine that number, so sad. The few politicians & lobbyists responsible for this war should be held accountable for their decisions, instead they're on the golf course enjoying their retirement. I'd feel ripped of & betrayed If I was a veteran.1 point

I'm not the OP, but if you open the sheet, you'll see the name of the service at the top of one of the columns (it's blocked by this site so I won't type it).1 point
