  1. I won't cheer on their deaths, but I have ZERO sympathy for people who had a megaphone, used it to downplay the virus and the need to get vaccinated, and ultimately succumbed to the disease that they used the power of their voice to convince other people to view as nothing to worry about. Choices have consequences...sure you have the freedom to view mask mandates as the first step towards government-run gas chambers and the vaccine and virus as a hoax or conspiracy or whatever you choose to call it today to get people to tune in so that you can pull in advertising dollars and you also have the freedom to die for your stupidity.

  2. We had a lot of rain this weekend so I built the Medieval Blacksmith. Probably the best set I have built in the past 2 years. It has details like a Jamie Beard Modular and some neat new building techniques like the roof. 4 good Minifigures, a horse and wagon, a light brick, a dog, No stickers and Sand Green Nexo Knight Shields, what is not to like.

  3. You should never be afraid of taking a loss if the circumstances warrant it. It's much better to dump, take the loss and reinvest than tie the full amount of that capital up with the hope of future returns. I learned that lesson the hard way with 10188. Since that debacle, I have been quick to dump things that are not productive and don't regret a single loss I have taken for this reason. Sent from my LM-V600 using Tapatalk

  4. Lol, the sky actually is violet, that’s the light wavelength that scatters most in the atmosphere, but the cones in our eyes don’t perceive violet as well blue so we see blue. I imagine other animals see the sky differently also. But perception is our reality. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  7. You have two options: 1 - Unload now locally for breakeven (assuming you bought at RRP), as unlikely these will sell for above RRP on eBay UK after you take into account fees / taxes. This isn't the US where sets are sold out for ages. You really only have 2 occasions in UK to sell current sets, at release or Xmas sold out period, but it really is a case of hot potato, and you don't want to be left holding them... 2 - Wait until end of the year to see if it retires (low probability). I've personally dumped all sets above the £200+ mark due to box size and just focusing on smaller sets, as alot easier to store / pack etc.

  8. Thanks for the science lesson, that was my point though, people will say it's a different color to them. It's perception. I will say it's blue, some other guy in the middle of the night will say it's black, someone watching a sunset will say it's orange. Yes, but perception & truth aren't the same thing. There is some truths that you can't deny, that are real & define reality, you can't perceive away the truth. You can perceive porn as a good thing. You can't say it's the truth though. You just cant. If you put up pros & cons considering all aspects, you will come to the conclusion that it's ultimately bad. Let's stick to the viewer. There are so many points that prove it's bad to consume these images. It's an unhealthy addiction to unrealistic, often brutal scenes which gradually destroy a healthy perception of a relationship, hurts relationships if you're in one, dehumanizes women & makes men dull towards violence, leads to a loss of motivation, energy, makes it harder to achieve your goals, dopamine toxicity which causes serious cognitive issues, sexual desensitization, messes up masculinity, self respect & confidence, demoralizes & destroys young people before they even meet someone etc. these are just a bunch I remember, there are so many studies, it's been a long time since I did some research on this. Wait another 10 years & we'll see the effects on gen z. Nothing left to say, do what you want, it's personal choice, no one can stop you from consuming this stuff.

  14. So the consenting adults must not, because some people might not be? And if this was applied across the board, who should be the ones to judge who is competent to consent? Legal sexual activity (filmed or not), in and of itself, shouldn't need to be a problem.

  17. I had dozens of treehouses until Dec of last year... when the date got pushed back to 2021, I sold them all at a profit (buy-in was ~30% off) & needless to say, I'm happy about my decision. I would have also sold at a loss. It hurts, sure, especially when the initial date would've been such a short run, but that's the game. There are so many big sets retiring this year, I'd say free up the capital & go for it.

  18. I focused on these specifically due to the connecting nature of the sets. My hope is most people will have the Great Halls and not the Whomping willows years down the line.

  20. the biggest piece by far is that it clears the legal hurdle of requiring an "experimental" vaccine. Now that it's official more organizations can require it. no different then say the polio vaccine (at least from a legal stand point) or a tetanus shot.

  23. Some hopeful progress coming out of UCSD. ‘Here is a summary of some recent studies on COVID-19. They include research that warrants further study to corroborate the findings and that have yet to be certified by peer review. Sugar-molecule 'gates' help coronavirus infect cells.’ ‘Researchers have discovered a sugary residue on the spike of the novel coronavirus that helps it to break into cells and infect them, according to a study published in Nature Chemistry https://go.nature.com/3sBBx7i on Thursday. The molecules that make up the sugary coating, called glycans, act as "gates" that open to let the spike's receptor-binding domain attach itself to a cell. Without this gate, the receptor-binding domain cannot take the shape it needs to break into the cell, Rommie Amaro of the University of California San Diego, who coauthored the study, said in a press statement. If drugs could be developed that "lock" the glycan gates closed, the virus would be prevented from entering and infecting cells.’

  24. This^ truth cannot be denied. I often question how much some people truly believe in the stances they take or are just trying to make money, but getting or not getting vaccinated is a pretty strong measure of belief vs profit acting. And from what we are seeing some folks must really believe, especially when they start booing their main man when he recommends getting vaccinated and mentions he already is. I think the fact that almost every politician is vaccinated speaks volumes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalki

  27. I've treated way more cattle with ivermectin than I have horses. Sure it's semantics, but calling it just an equine dewormer is selling it short when it can treat all sorts of livestock. Looks like the cloth masks may not be as beneficial as once thought. https://aip.scitation.org/doi/10.1063/5.0057100 It will be interesting to see what comes from this in regards to ventilation rates. The problem with just going whole hog on outside air is the energy consumption needed to condition that air.

  29. This was about Porn, not sex slavery. Do some trafficked victims end up in Porn? Absolutely and it is awful, but that doesn’t mean all of porn is abusive and the vast majority of sex workers on OnlyFans are not victims and actually used the platform to take control of their own careers, which arguably helped protect them from being trafficked. 30. Exactly, and in this case Valentine was actively spreading information to thousands and thousands of people who took his word as gospel. Words he ultimately regretted. This should be criminal. I had the same reaction when reading through a local representative's facebook page and his wife's page after they were both hospitalized and she passed away. I was appalled to read the mocking comments about a deceased fellow citizen. Digging on both of their FB pages a little deeper showed both the rep and his wife were openly mocking Covid patients, calling them fakers, liers, wasting resources, etc. Plenty of Meme's being shared depicting their views. Valentine was no different. Radical Right vs Radical Left is perpetuated by Newtons 3rd law. This major fracture referenced I believe has existed before, Covid has simply enlarged this divide. Why? Because a virus has become political. I appreciate the discourse and am truly thankful to read these points articulated. Absolutely horrible to hear about the case you mentioned with adverse effects from the vaccine. Just so people know, which vaccine did they have? Did they report their symptoms to their gp so the data can be captured? Lastly, did they have any other underlying health issues? I can tell you I have not met 1 person who has had any adverse effects from the 'jab' , other than mild symptoms for less than 24hrs. Either the Moderna or Pfizer double dose vaccine. However, I personally know at least a dozen of people who have passed away, unvaccinated. And that number seems to be climbing everyday. Also, you mention how blessed you are how Covid has been gentle on your personal network. Would your stance change had it not been so gentle? The treatments you described are basically saying take your vitamins and be as healthy as possible to boost your immune system. Any gp or physician would say this should be normal behavior before any pandemic. Other than viral load & pre-exiting conditions, exposure would be the greatest factor. For people who already intake higher than the normal daily values of the vitamins mentioned, limiting exposure would be the greatest deterrent. As for india, from the links you provided: Evidence of efficacy for ivermectin is inconclusive. It should not be used outside of clinical trials. Neither hydroxychloroquine nor chloroquine should be used, either alone or in combination with azithromycin, in inpatient or outpatient settings Many studies included were not peer reviewed and a wide range of doses were evaluated. We are talking about using an Equine dewormer and antibiotics to treat a virus, just to be clear.

  32. in general this is infrequent event and abusive buyers will just use this reason so they don't ever pay return shipper per policy as long as item is in sellable shape. its even better than when they message you about inaccurate description to get the money back and the reason it was not accurate description is because the set was too hard for their child to build and it comes back in a ups store plastic bag, bits n pices. cat on a tin roof, dawgz in a pile, nothing left to do but smile smile smile. however, this happened 6x last year with 1 specific set :https://www.amazon.com/CREATOR-Gingerbread-House-Limited-40337/dp/B082FZQXTC mini-gingerbread house 2.0 promo. i finally stopped selling them because one showed up as a seller violation under my account health because grannyma was really po'd and must have messaged someone at HQ at how small the box was even though size, weight and the word "mini" in the title. ..!.- even after the request for a return, in my experience, only 75% of return requests actually get sent back but ymmv.

  34. I wish we never had the major server issue over a year ago that forced us to make some difficult choices about removing features. Many things have changed for us over the past decade (plus) and the ways we made money to support the site have all but evaporated, so certain costly features had to be sacrificed. Throw in the fact we are in the middle of a pandemic and that there were two major family health issues that sucked Jeff's spare time this past year, many plans and fixes were not implemented. Is this an excuse? No, just the truth. Jeff is working on a slimmed down and more current version of Brickpicker, but the Brickfolio might not be in the final version. On a personal note, most member's LEGO inventories are probably so different at this point, what use will the data be? Most major resellers I know had their own spreadsheets to track their data. What I would suggest is that if the data is so important to you, message Jeff and ask him for it. I make no promises, but I think you will catch more flies with honey than vinegar. Stay safe...Ed Mack

  35. Absolutely this and yes I agree it was a pain in the ass but it was on some level fun and a treasure hunt. I was stoked to find I had a few extra of things like Darth Revan polys and super excited to see I had not bought quite as many goblin kings as the rest of LOTR/Hobbit proving I’m not a total brickpicking rube. I also learned something about packaging from LEGO Shop at Home. I know people have been loving the new paper packing instead of air pillows but based on my sets old vs recent shipments I don’t experience the same joy likely due to the greater shipping distance I have that Midwest and east coast folks. Yes air pillows directly transfer forces to the inside set increasing the chance of minor damage but they also add rigidity to the outer shipping box which paper does not thus decreasing the likelihood of catastrophic shipping box failure and total set damage. All my SSD and sandcrawlers etc are in better shape than any rollercoasters, this seems to carry through to town halls vs assembly square and pretty much on down the line to medium sized sets. Perhaps just my experience but something. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  36. The entire transformation of Anakin to Vader in EP3 required one to travel to the outer edges of the willing suspension of disbelief necessary to enjoy fiction. At the end of EP2, I remember walking out of the theater thinking that Lucas has a ton of ground to cover in EP3 to explain how Anakin becomes Vader. And then I remember thinking the same thing about half way through EP3. The most disappointing thing about the prequels was the fact that Lucas did such a crappy job of explaining Anakin's fall. I still hold out hope that the Star Wars IP will one day fall into the hands of someone who will see merit in throwing the prequels in the trash and telling the story how it should have been told. Because travel and the actual 40% of the population that isn't vaccinated because kids and teens. https://www.npr.org/sections/goatsandsoda/2021/08/20/1029628471/highly-vaccinated-israel-is-seeing-a-dramatic-surge-in-new-covid-cases-heres-why I don't even understand what you're after or trying to prove anymore. 1. Universal masking works to slow the spread of the virus. 2. Vaccines are still quite effective at preventing serious infection and very good at preventing infections requiring hospitalization. 3. The rate of vaccine injury is insanely low compared to the risk of a bad case of Covid. 4. Resistance is Futile 5. You will be assimilated.
