I believe that is the point. No great empire or nation has every been conquered from without and there are people in high places who know this all too well. Pit people against themselves, segregate people, flood the country with immigrants who form their own communities instead of assimilating, blame people's failures on other's successes, demonize free speech, etc.2 points

Many thanks for this. It truly helps to see a variety of perspectives. My observations are the following, which I believe to be true and co-exist with the points you raised. Covid progresses through three stages: viral replication, inflammation, thrombosis. If addressed early when symptoms are mild, it's very treatable. If it reaches the last stage, blood clots develop in the lungs and other organs and there is very little one can do to reverse the damage. Preventative treatments such as the Zelenko protocol (Vit D + Zinc + Quercetin + Vit C) and anti-viral treaments (ivermectin or HCQ) post infection are very effective. Unfortunately, it's usually at the 3rd stage when a person ends up hospitalized. I'm thankful that I've been blessed that covid has been gentle on my personal network, and I have deep sympathy for those that haven't been so lucky. I personally know more people that have been injured by the jab than by the virus. The most severe injury I know personally has thrombosis in the legs, arms, and eyes---this person can't see well enough to drive now, and can't work. In contrast, everyone I know personally that caught the virus suffered very little. Those that were on the preventative protocol had little more than the common cold. Those that were not, recovered within a few days after treatment with anti-virals. While these are just anecdotes from my personal experience, there is ample evidence that what I say is true. (https://ivmmeta.com/, https://journals.lww.com/americantherapeutics/fulltext/2021/08000/ivermectin_for_prevention_and_treatment_of.7.aspx, https://www.jpost.com/health-science/israeli-scientist-says-covid-19-could-be-treated-for-under-1day-675612). I find the most convincing example in India. If you recall, a few months ago the country was getting hammered by the Delta variant with no lead time for vaccination relief. The poorer states introduced ivermectin into the treatment protocol and the wave was done within 3 weeks. (https://www.thedesertreview.com/opinion/columnists/indias-ivermectin-blackout/article_e3db8f46-f942-11eb-9eea-77d5e2519364.html) Because there are alternatives, I believe the choice to get jabbed or not absolutely involves issues of personal freedom and body autonomy. I find it criminal that the jab is being coerced when it's impossible to make an informed decision because the long term effects are unknown, and when there is ample evidence that alternative treatments exist and natural immunity is robust. Yet all of the above is censored by Big Tech / Big Media / Big Government. Criminal.2 points

A few things that are getting lost in this particular thread that I believe are crucial since the situation is changing rapidly. Cases are soaring. Many states in the south have opened field hospitals and certain areas have already exceeded capacity and are discussing using battlefield triage to parse out care because resources and staff are critically low. This is reality, not a philosophical debate about personal freedoms, conspiracy theories, or your personal beliefs about who made the virus, if the virus is real, if all these people dying in overcrowded ICUs are sick with something else. The Pfizer vaccine is expected to receive full approval next week from the FDA:https://www.politico.com/news/2021/08/20/fda-approval-pfizer-covid-shot-506472 Most insurance providers have dropped or will drop waivers for Covid Hospitalizations. Average hospitalization cost is north of $40,000, with ICU costs north of $100,000: https://www.healthsystemtracker.org/brief/most-private-insurers-are-no-longer-waiving-cost-sharing-for-covid-19-treatment/ Third round of booster shots are undergoing authorization and will begin mid-September for those who had their second shot of an MRNA vaccine 8 months ago: https://www.nytimes.com/2021/08/16/us/politics/booster-shots.html Monoclonal antibodies are effective in preventing hospitalizations in many cases, if taken early: https://www.covid19treatmentguidelines.nih.gov/therapies/anti-sars-cov-2-antibody-products/anti-sars-cov-2-monoclonal-antibodies/ Masking remains an effective deterrent in public spaces: https://health.clevelandclinic.org/delta-variant-mask-guidance/2 points

Visited some museums and battlefields in Normandy on a road trip with my son. I was based in Bayeux one of the first towns liberated by the Allies. Here are the places I visited in 1.5 days. Sainte-Mère-Église, Airborne Museum, Memorials dedicated to East Company near Brecourt Manor, D-day experience museum, Pointe du Hoc, Omaha Beach Memorial. On day 2, American Normandy Cemetery, Overlord Museum, Pegasus Bridge and Memorial, Merville Battery. The museums I visited were all excellent and I wasn't disappointed. I only wish I had more time to spare.2 points

I followed Phil Valentines story the entire way. Going to his twitter and seeing thousands of twitter replies and memes cheering on his death was sobering. Never seen anything like that in such high numbers. This lead me elsewhere for more research and have realized thats thousands of people actually want anti-covid vaccine citizens to die and actively root for it. They moralize their behavior saying the target kills people with their vaccine skepticism, but I'm not so sure that is what they really think. They want to see people die, and die for their decision. A satisfaction from another human being death is gained for these people. The major fracture has occurred. The opposing sides are now viewing each other as less than human. Once that happens in large numbers the United States as we know it has reached its final phase.1 point

This is literally the most backwards & illogical statement I've seen this year, for sure. How can someone be anti-porn AND mysogynistic at the same time? Porn is without a doubt the most brutal, abusive and destructive male-controlled industry of all time. Shows once again that these feminists & LGBTQ-advocates don't give a damn about morals or principles, it's all lies. They don't even know who's the real enemy. They're as confused about their movement as they are about their sexual identity. I wonder if the author is knowingly spreading this nonsense or if he/she/it actually believes it. Hypocritical waste of oxygen.1 point

in general this is infrequent event and abusive buyers will just use this reason so they don't ever pay return shipper per policy as long as item is in sellable shape. its even better than when they message you about inaccurate description to get the money back and the reason it was not accurate description is because the set was too hard for their child to build and it comes back in a ups store plastic bag, bits n pices. cat on a tin roof, dawgz in a pile, nothing left to do but smile smile smile. however, this happened 6x last year with 1 specific set :https://www.amazon.com/CREATOR-Gingerbread-House-Limited-40337/dp/B082FZQXTC mini-gingerbread house 2.0 promo. i finally stopped selling them because one showed up as a seller violation under my account health because grannyma was really po'd and must have messaged someone at HQ at how small the box was even though size, weight and the word "mini" in the title. ..!.- even after the request for a return, in my experience, only 75% of return requests actually get sent back but ymmv.1 point

I wish we never had the major server issue over a year ago that forced us to make some difficult choices about removing features. Many things have changed for us over the past decade (plus) and the ways we made money to support the site have all but evaporated, so certain costly features had to be sacrificed. Throw in the fact we are in the middle of a pandemic and that there were two major family health issues that sucked Jeff's spare time this past year, many plans and fixes were not implemented. Is this an excuse? No, just the truth. Jeff is working on a slimmed down and more current version of Brickpicker, but the Brickfolio might not be in the final version. On a personal note, most member's LEGO inventories are probably so different at this point, what use will the data be? Most major resellers I know had their own spreadsheets to track their data. What I would suggest is that if the data is so important to you, message Jeff and ask him for it. I make no promises, but I think you will catch more flies with honey than vinegar. Stay safe...Ed Mack1 point

バスターソード Cloud Strife's Buster Sword by Brick Ninja Here is a little tid bit from the pic description: Cloud Strife’s Buster Sword from Final Fantasy VII. This is a 1:1 life size replica. It is 6 feet long, and over a foot wide. This is based off of its appearance in Final Fantasy VII: Remake (Part 1) which is celebrating its 1 year anniversary today. Stability was a major issue with this sword, particularly due to the Materia slots (Two circular holes near where the blade connects to the hilt. In the end it is fairly sturdy. (The only position it cannot withstand is being held out flat, parallel to the ground.)1 point

In case you'd like to purchase a 501st clone trooper army, Amazon has a great price on them. Great reviews too!! Note, these are non-licensed, LEGO knock-offs with a current Toys and Games ranking at 8000 and are number 16 in Building and Construction toys. But I can't list 31084 (Pirate Roller Coaster) for higher than $188.98 because it's against Amazon's fair pricing policy. Edit: Just took a deeper look and 7 of the top 50 selling Building and Construction sets are LEGO knockoffs. Grand. https://www.amazon.com/Star-501st-Captain-Clone-Trooper/dp/B08WZ49PP81 point

I agree 100%. For the most part the people on here are able to engage in overall nuanced conversation without retorting to nastiness. It has largely become a place where I can make a statement without everyone losing their mind, and I hope that it stays this way. This community is almost less about Lego for me now than it ever was (don't get me wrong, I still am a huge fan).1 point

As long as the conversations are kept in the Non LEGO forum, there is nothing wrong with discussing global events. The BP-ers have been good at keeping those comments out of LEGO related threads.1 point

I went to the local Comic Con and it was HOT. Then I went to WaWa and you have to wear a mask regardless of vaccination status (not getting into the Covid thing) they are not taking cash unless you have exact change and they no longer provide bags they are $0.25. Come home to eat and watch an episode of Sunny and find out Hulu has removed episodes that may be too offensive? Every episode is too offensive that is part of the show if you don’t like it don’t watch. But all is good now in my world my Lego order finally arrived 2 weeks later so I am going to put on some tunes and get building. That was a What did you do today, multi-complaint/Covid, Flicks/Pics and TV Clicks, my order status, and what set did you build today post all in 11 point

There isn't much that hasn't become political. Sports, weather, school, cars, hunting......1 point

The problem is how overtly political weather has become. My wife wanted to watch Twister the other night. A dumb but entertaining movie. I commented that if made today Twister would be less fun because it would involve characters espousing climate change beliefs left and right instead of gawking at flying cows.1 point

Call me crazy but all a movie, show, whatever has to do is entertain me. I'm not here to read my ethos into everything. If something is sooooo against what I believe that it offends me then I simply turn it off and move on with my life because I possess that super power.1 point
