I finished bag 6 of 7 still not sure what I will do next with my second set either the tower build or this MOC from rebrickable that uses 2 sets and has 250 pieces left. I think this set should have 2 more black night minifigs with beefed up armour and a mace, perhaps a horse as well. 3 Minifigures for $100 is kinda weak especially since 1 is just a blacksmith. 70404 also $100 back in 2013 had 7 Minifigures better armour and weapons and also had a horse. I just think if you are giving this as a playset 3 figs is not enough. No issues with the build it is pretty straightforward and no stickers is always a bonus.5 points

Stopped in the Lego store today first time since January 1st when I went for the Police Modular. They had all the big supposed retiring sets in stock and even had the MILF. Interesting how they chose to display World Map the largest lego set ever made is on its side Carte Du Monde Mapamundi. I guess because nobody is going to buy it anyway. I was hoping to see the UCS Gunship on display but they had already broken it down. Anyway they had no Sailboat promos left so all I got was the Ninjago BHZ 3 pack. The friendly cashier informed me I had a $20 reward and asked if I wanted to use it. Turns out when I accidentally redeemed rewards for the wrong reward, in store but wanted online, and I called to get the online reward they never canceled the in store. YMMV2 points

You don’t write off inventory until you sell. Buy a LEGO set for $50. Sell for $100. Let’s pretend fees and shipping are $20. You just made $30. You claim a capital gain of $30 and pay taxes on the $30 (about 30% tax on average = about $10 in taxes). Take home profit after taxes is $20. I’m no accountant. But that’s about how it works. And yes, paying taxes is a great problem to have. People that complain about taxes don’t get it. Paying taxes is a great thing. It means you’re fortunate enough to have income…as Redcell stated above.2 points

I'm actually a big advocate of the social media thing. My son has a little business selling t-shirts, hats, sweatshirts, etc. He made up his own brand and then markets it on Tik Tok, Instagram, etc. Sells stuff all over the world. Again, its not a big business but not bad for a high school kid. He can now take that system he's developed and use it with any other business he gets involved in. Easy to switch gears once you know what to do. I wish I had the inclination to get into it. With its constantly changing landscape, its definitely a young person's game.2 points

yeah, when I went to my local store yesterday they were max stocked. I couldn't really think of a recent set they didn't have...but in hindsight I think all the CNY sets were out (which was what I was supposed to get due to limits). Why would they break down the UCS Gunship so soon? weird how you think you have a plan going in...and then once in the store, seeing all the sets, you're like...what am I supposed to be buying?1 point

I haven’t seen the instructions yet. Not sure if lego is going to fine tune the set like they do with other ideas projects but the original would have had to be sourced from already existing pieces. From the comments on the set design page these were parts that had potential to be pricey: Dark Orange 2x2 tiles and LBG 1x3x3 arches.1 point

Ahh, there is a Beyond the Bricks video I watched about that a while back, basically some Lego PR that says, nah, they are fine:1 point

This is honestly only a question asked by newer sellers. I have had far worse luck with experienced buyers claiming issues than 0 feedback buyers. You generally should not fear any buyers. Never cancel an order because you are suspicious unless we are talking huge, huge red flags like a high value order paid PayPal and asked to be shipped to a different address. With the backing of Lego now, I would not be surprised to see a constant growth of new buyers, embrace those buyers and sell some Lego! Also if you can spend the time to configure instant checkout. I haven't had a NPB in years.1 point

I would bet that's going to be a dead end. Allowing businesses to write off inventory in the year it is purchased would be horrible fiscal policy that would incentivize businesses to increase their debt each year in order to purchase enough inventory to reduce their tax liability to zero. That opinion or whatever it was that was posted recently was ridiculous...as soon as they got to the point of saying "it's not actually written in the rule," I stopped reading...if it's not written in the rule, you should assume that whatever clever analysis they used to reach that conclusion is unlikely to be accepted by the IRS. And paying a stupid amount of taxes on Lego sales is the best kind of problem to have because it means your profits were high enough to justify a stupid tax bill. If you've planned for it throughout the year, it's not painful at all.1 point

Btw, I know that this is probably the wrong thread, but I do have a new favorite Lego YouTuber, I love this persons energy and her quirkiness. I would much rather watch her videos than MandR or Jang... https://youtube.com/c/Emmasaurus Sent from my SM-G960U1 using Tapatalk1 point

Anecdotally; if one was to ask a junior high class what they plan to do when they grow up over half will say youtuber or influencer on social media1 point

I've watched these Youtubers for a while and if I wanted to be one, I would choose to be a video gamer. Much easier to gain subscribers. I just need to be marginally better than most gamers out there1 point

I would actually prefer all the YouTubers go away and stop giving advice. Good, bad or otherwise. Competition only hurts you as a seller. All these people that want to preach about having a scarcity mentality being bad can take a hike. If your primary hustle is selling LEGO, more people selling LEGO is rarely a good thing.1 point

I'm not aware of any sellers out there who are churning volume and posting videos to Youtube because why would you post to Youtube if you're churning enough volume to make serious money when doing so would only create more competition and hurt your ability to churn volume?1 point

I haven't watched any of the videos from anyone lately, or those encouraging Arbitrage or whatever... I have commented how I ran into several flippers this clearance wave saying they were new to it all, and learned about it on Youtube/Reddit, etc - a huge uptick in the numbers I've seen previously. I have been watching with interest/humor/horror some of the items from Walmart being clearanced be absolutely flooded into Amazon 3rd Party Sellers... 41165 has 200+ sellers... The 4+ Snowspeeder has 150+. The MOTU Mega Bloks sets that were on clearance have 200+ sellers. Great Hall, which had a lot of sellers even before this, is close to 150+ which is pretty darn high for a $100+ set. Sith Ties, 100+, you get the idea. A good direct comparison is the Mickey Art set, which was the only one I am aware of Cleared at Wally. It has about 50 sellers, all the other art sets - about 20. And about half the Mickey Art sellers are people with 20 or fewer lifetime ratings. I am interested to see how this will all shake out. There's going to be a pretty serious race to the bottom and undercutting wars as people don't churn their inventory as fast as they thought they would for probably profits much smaller than they were expecting. Whether it was COVID or whatever else, there's definitely been a huge uptick in interest/those selling online. Even comparing to this year's post Christmas clearance wave, the numbers seem double or more what I am used to seeing with the flippers. This isn't "End is near" speculation. But I do think it's going to be interesting in the short term.1 point

Our framers indicated as much when our government was formed. "There is not justification for taking away individual's freedom in the guise of public safety." "Democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where fifty-one percent of the people may take away the rights of the other forty-nine." "When the people fear the government there is tyranny, when the government fears the people there is liberty." “When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic.” “Of the liberty of conscience in matters of religious faith, of speech and of the press; of the trial by jury of the vicinage in civil and criminal cases; of the benefit of the writ of habeas corpus; of the right to keep and bear arms...If these rights are well defined, and secured against encroachment, it is impossible that government should ever degenerate into tyranny.” “The natural progress of things is for liberty to yield, and government to gain ground.”1 point

Wife and I forced ourselves to watch suicide squad last night. As mentioned by others, it's stupid, gory, dumb and fun. It's just entertainment. No reason to read more into it. I enjoyed it. I thought it was the best dceu movie so far. I know, that isn't saying much...1 point

My reply to return would be along these lines ; please accept our apology for this issue . We kindly ask that you return everything inside a shipping box along with all stickers sheets , instruction manuals and minifigures ( if applicable ). A refund will be issued once the item is returned per Amazon’s policies . ( do not mention full refund ). once returned inspect set . If valuable pieces and items ( mentioned above ) are missing or BLepin/ rocks are inside then you can withhold up to 50% or file a Safe-T claim if you so choose . It is a bit tricky with missing pieces as return reason since the seller- per amazon - is at fault . But a blatant scam will strengthen your case . also a chance the buyer is looking for an argument without having any intention of returning the item hoping to keep it for free .1 point

To be honest, no, I hadn't read about that. This set doesn't do a whole lot for me, so I'd not been paying attention until the BF deal. That said, I don't for a second believe that TLG took $100 off the price to move out some sets with wonky stickers. They didn't blow out the early Wall-E sets for 30% off, and that damn thing couldn't keep his head up. This set is not moving - bad price, bad stickers, bad concept, bad whatever - take your pick of reasons why. I would absolutely believe an early retirement for this guy while the castle keeps chugging along.1 point
