I would actually prefer all the YouTubers go away and stop giving advice. Good, bad or otherwise. Competition only hurts you as a seller. All these people that want to preach about having a scarcity mentality being bad can take a hike. If your primary hustle is selling LEGO, more people selling LEGO is rarely a good thing.5 points

Just my opinion, but I think there is a big difference between the flippers who are new to this and many/most on here who are buying & holding. I'm definitely not an "investor" and holding for many years like some are, but I don't buy anything and expect to sell it in less than 12-18 months. I would guess that most of the new sellers who came onto these listings recently are looking to flip for a smaller profit in a shorter timeframe than me. So, I don't really think it's a big deal that there are tons of sellers on these listings because they most likely have an entirely different business model than me and will mostly sell through their inventory this Q4.4 points

I haven't watched any of the videos from anyone lately, or those encouraging Arbitrage or whatever... I have commented how I ran into several flippers this clearance wave saying they were new to it all, and learned about it on Youtube/Reddit, etc - a huge uptick in the numbers I've seen previously. I have been watching with interest/humor/horror some of the items from Walmart being clearanced be absolutely flooded into Amazon 3rd Party Sellers... 41165 has 200+ sellers... The 4+ Snowspeeder has 150+. The MOTU Mega Bloks sets that were on clearance have 200+ sellers. Great Hall, which had a lot of sellers even before this, is close to 150+ which is pretty darn high for a $100+ set. Sith Ties, 100+, you get the idea. A good direct comparison is the Mickey Art set, which was the only one I am aware of Cleared at Wally. It has about 50 sellers, all the other art sets - about 20. And about half the Mickey Art sellers are people with 20 or fewer lifetime ratings. I am interested to see how this will all shake out. There's going to be a pretty serious race to the bottom and undercutting wars as people don't churn their inventory as fast as they thought they would for probably profits much smaller than they were expecting. Whether it was COVID or whatever else, there's definitely been a huge uptick in interest/those selling online. Even comparing to this year's post Christmas clearance wave, the numbers seem double or more what I am used to seeing with the flippers. This isn't "End is near" speculation. But I do think it's going to be interesting in the short term.4 points

I see it more as doing (what they perceive) to be the least amount of work but making the most $$$3 points

I'm not aware of any sellers out there who are churning volume and posting videos to Youtube because why would you post to Youtube if you're churning enough volume to make serious money when doing so would only create more competition and hurt your ability to churn volume?3 points

There's a lot of good advice on these boards for those listening. A little understated, but its there. Hint: It's not the guys getting excited every time Tree House comes back at 15% off.2 points

dang gummit...wrong post again...anyway to make this relevant... I bought a used big hogwarts for $215 on ebay Past weekend took my boy and his buddy. We did the pit passes $20 ea (a waste of money since you can't really engage w/ the drivers (Covid) or even get close to most of the trucks (ribboned off). After about 10 pictures it was like,...well that was a waste of $100. The show was relatively tame (never been before) and I guess because of the smaller indoor venue they didn't do the car crushing thing; which is what we were looking forward to. It is crazy how high these trucks get and I am hoping it was memorable for the boys.2 points

I just got approved like 2 months ago. It was surprisingly easier than expected and wasn't "much of a grind" at all. I had been selling on Ebay for years and after hearing all the stories from here and elsewhere just figured it would be too difficult to actually get ungated. Then I connected with a awesome reseller who showed me how simple it was and now I am off to the races! Sent from my SM-G960U1 using Tapatalk2 points

Monorail could be next Disney set. Just a guess. Would also love to see a Big Thunder RR set. A jungle cruise set…but this would be out now with the movie if they ever intended on doing one of these. Haunted mansion would be cool but won’t happen for awhile (if ever) given 2 big haunted houses on the market in last 10 years. Would love to see multiple micro builds of Disney rides done like Architecture style. Make them $30-50 ea.2 points

This set is a winner. "Short" run, Highly desirable and won't be heavily stockpiled.2 points

other than the standard high price, big set/storage/shipping issues; whether this set does well post-retirement will come down to fear/risk of a re-release and lasting appeal. It's already a given that it's "lightly hoarded". After about 3-5 years; a lot of the flack about this set's quality will be in the rearview. If it stays retired, the target buyer (Disney enthusiast) sees this set and loves it then it's a $600+ set. I read back at the first few pages of comments and the set was REALLY well taken by folks here... the first impressions based on pics was a consensus homerun....even the price was acceptable given motor functions. I actually think discounting it 30% almost off the bat by LEGO did a huge dis-service to the set as it gave it a negative impression and basically quelled any chance at FOMO. If I am weighing its potential; My greatest fear is re-release territory because that will tie up a ton of capital and space for years. I think if one was looking to invest $300+ on this round of retirees; it's probably a safer bet to get 3 Chinese New Years sets, or corner garage, or even the batmobile...all likely hits x2 w/ less downside risk than The Disney Train. The Disney Train is in the same boat as Barracuda Bay...a big set with lots of good stuff...but susceptible for retirement extension and/or re-release.2 points

so when it gets even more expensive post retirement THEN it will sell better? 🤨2 points

Cloud city was still seen as a trash set. This is a gem, everything you need in a pricy exclusive. Size, exclusive figs & power functions. Plus it's Disney & a train, Disney collectors want it, train collectors want it.2 points

There are some new seller accounts trickling in on Amazon, which is curious considering how much of a grind it is to get approval to sell in subcategory toys. Either Amazon lifted certain restrictions, or we are seeing existing sellers broaden their platform.1 point

Excellent post! Here are two I am watching since they were promoted as “Better Than Gold” and weren’t even Walmart clearanced: 75317 Mandalorian BHZ 100 sellers 21319 Central Perk 120 sellers1 point

Similar story here in the UK with quantities of sellers. I'll add there is a lot more resistance to parents paying over RRP, and directing their children to cheaper options, 763 sets on SaH today for example! Cost of living has crept up, and more punters are using price tracking software/websites, keeping their spending under close control.1 point

This. The price was way off the mark. That quick discount at right at release was strange and felt like what the RRP should have been. Everyone kind of looked the other way after that.1 point

Apologies I didn't mean to undermine any struggles you are experiencing. I consider COVID a global problem and I see your point. Fairly ignorant for me to put it in those terms.1 point

I mean fair enough I understand that the pandemic and work shortages have an effect but I was still getting my orders shipped out faster last year than this year. If we only want positive posts regarding orders on this thread then fine I will keep it to that. Haha pretty sure everyone on here is dealing exclusively with first world problems but I understand how you could be upset with people coming to complain about order status it can come off as whiny. I just was in the same boat as keymomachine and thought that's what this thread was for.1 point

I actually never said it wasn't a good experience, it was a delightful conversation actually, just had a poor result because they can't do anything once it goes to 'In Warehouse' Heaven forbid we share our 'order status' stories in the appropriate thread.1 point

Our Lego building zone, while still a work in progress, is quite operational. My daughter decided she wanted to build a space "drone" and then grabbed a phone to show us what she meant on a SciShow kids video: a Voyager Space Probe. She lost interest pretty quickly, but you better believe I saw it through. She was most concerned it have the golden record on it.1 point

Saturday after midnight, my wife's water broke. Sunday morning at 244 AM, she delivered a healthy baby girl. Monday evening, I had a wonderful delicious steak dinner made by the hospital to celebrate. So yeah, super eventful. Sent from my Pixel 3a XL using Tapatalk1 point

You know, I'm going to stand up for America on this one. Yeah, there are some geographically illiterate people in the US but I lived in the UK for a few years and I heard people try to put Boston in California and New Mexico in Mexico. In the US, we can travel 5 days and not leave the country. In Europe, you could visit 7-8 countries in five days while driving half as much. It makes a difference. People generally learn through necessity. And lest you think that I am picking on Europeans, I lived in The Philippines for five years and heard some ridiculous statements about geography there too, both by the Filipinos and by Australian ex-pats. Of course, Australia has the same problem as America - a huge country to roam as well. But I actually had a 46 year old Australian man (and good friend) try to tell me that the Florida alligator was no different from their crocodile. As someone that grew up around alligators, I got a good laugh at that one. For those that don't know, beyond physical differences, alligators live in brackish or fresh water only. Crocs generally prefer saltwater. The alligator's glands for excreting salt is not as refined as a crocodile's.1 point
