I’m starting to come to the realization that I’m aging out of this. It’s not the work, just the fact that I have enough stock to last me 4-5 years. This will bring me close to retirement age before I can get rid of all this stuff. I don’t plan to continue after retirement. I’ll have to make a decision soon when to stop collecting too. I’ll have to downsize my collection and start selling off Star Wars extras and multiples.8 points

One thing I've tried to do since COVID happened is make a spreadsheet with all important info (i.e. email accounts, bank account / investment accounts info / insurance details etc) as seeing lots of people passing away, and the absolute hassle it is to sort things. The average person is very disorganised with paperwork. Plus with everything now online, unless you have access to the persons phone, it's impossible to know what account / passwords etc. Might sound morbid, but I think everyone should make a "When I Die" file and make sure that there partner / key person has access to it.7 points

Someone has to benefit from your retirement. When you're ready, please pass along the location of your time portal/wormhole. You can keep your horse and carriage.5 points

I am with you. The downside of this hobby is the ammount of space that it takes up. I often wonder when/if this hobby will reach the point where the brand hits a point with fans that its just too much. Eventually there will be sooooo much used brick out there that people will get tired of dealing with it . I often feel bad for my wife knowing what all she is going to have to deal with when Im gone.3 points

Our Lego building zone, while still a work in progress, is quite operational. My daughter decided she wanted to build a space "drone" and then grabbed a phone to show us what she meant on a SciShow kids video: a Voyager Space Probe. She lost interest pretty quickly, but you better believe I saw it through. She was most concerned it have the golden record on it.2 points

Everyone over 40 years old should be having conversations about death with their family. I lost both my parents (dad died at age 61, mom at 72). Luckily neither was a sudden death but both were pretty quick (several months). But we had time to have the hard conversations and plan while minds were healthy. We were very well organized but it was still so difficult. I can’t even imagine how impossible it would be if someone had a sudden/unexpected death. Please plan now so as to make life (or death) easier in the future. And as someone else said… we too had a “in case of death” binder. With all important info in it. Create one and update it annually.1 point

I think previous Seasonal winter BrickHeadz lasted for 2 winters. Usually winter/ Xmas sets dissappear on SAH out of season and come back in stock autumn / winter time.1 point

That's a concern too, I can't imagine my family having to deal with all my collection.1 point

It seems that for BrickHeadz, first drop stayed for ages (Jack sparrow / Salazar / Black Widow etc), then subsequent IP versions were only on sale for a few weeks at SAH. Alot of people complained so seems that BrickHeadz no longer are on the short shelf life. I had high hopes for Monkie Kid / Dragon Dance Guy / Donald / Goofy, but I think they might have stayed out for too long now, and won't perform like the original mickey / Minnie mouse. Original HP BrickHeadz still performing well (to my surprise, as I thought they would take a dip, but hasn't happened on eBay UK). I personally don't think any of the recent BrickHeadz will have a short shelflife (I.e. 1/2 months) but who knows in post COVID manufacturing times.1 point

I think it is a bluff on Barca part to force La Liga’s hand into allowing them to register him . But I’ve been more wrong than right before 😂😂1 point

I got Doctor Fate. But would love to get Stargirl. Wasn’t able to secure a raffle spot, and she’s limited to 5000. Hopefully patience will pay and her price will drop a bit.1 point

It’s a beauty. $249 with a 9/2 release date. Wonder what the GWP will be? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

yes they were surprisingly being sold for 40-50% off at walmart in the last 3 weeks. these are also very lightly stocked - i don't think i've ever seen more than 3 or 4 on a shelf. recent hp has been a wasteland for lego investing so probably the sets i don't go in on will be the winner.1 point

sold just under 400 of them in Feb/March, was one of the better gwp churns in a long time. pretty much all went overseas as usual1 point

This happened with me over 10 years ago. Job was secure, but my responsibilities were going to be so greatly diminished (Was going to go from having the controller duties of a CPA firm, to being on a team doing collections). So many co-workers were stabbing each other in the back (just trying to survive), desperately trying to get a seat in the lifeboat (before the ship went down) - It was so painful to witness. This is when I quit, to become a full time LEGO man. Best decision ever.1 point

Thanks, but there is no recovery. Just a hopeless fight to postpone the inevitable.0 points

I have been going through this over the last few months, not for me, but for my wife. She was diagnosed with Stage 4 brain cancer last December, and it has been a slow decline and lots of things to arrange. And all these boxes of LEGO (personal build stack as well as selling) don't help. But I haven't even found the time to put stuff on FBA, just paying my $39.99 each month directly into Bezos' space adventures and divorce proceedings. More important things to take care of ...0 points
