Yes, "the message it sends" is always the deciding factor my wife and I use to determine which movie we're going to see. re: New SW trilogy, I did get the message. Every single man in the story was a looser, comedic relief, bombastic, stubborn headed, needlessly kills and gets others killed. They needed to be hit over the head with a baseball bat in order to learn the simplest of lessons. Although Finn started with a lot of potential, Rian Johnson literally turned him into a coward. Tell me, which male character in the Disney SW trilogy would you point your son or daughter to and say, "that person is admirable"? So much potential completely wasted with every male character. The story telling was horrible. Military tactics used were moronic! Just too many problems...5 points

This happened with me over 10 years ago. Job was secure, but my responsibilities were going to be so greatly diminished (Was going to go from having the controller duties of a CPA firm, to being on a team doing collections). So many co-workers were stabbing each other in the back (just trying to survive), desperately trying to get a seat in the lifeboat (before the ship went down) - It was so painful to witness. This is when I quit, to become a full time LEGO man. Best decision ever.5 points

Is PTO Paid Time Off? I was surprised to find how little annual leave / holidays people get in US. In UK the minimum for most companies is about 28 days off (usually 33 in total if including public holidays). I can't imagine only having 1 or 2 holidays a year. Working from home has made me realise that I should probably think about working a 4 day week to enjoy life more aswell.2 points

not exactly LEGO, but close Sold a COBI Titanic NISB on Ebay for $270 shipped. Took a flyer on it on a Walmart clearance for $80...not bad for a 3 month hold I was planning it for personal collection, but faced the likelihood of actually building and storing it (it's huge)...my backlog is about 3 years post-mortem (assuming I live to 100) ...rumors of a LEGO version had me spooked and ofcourse the x3 buy-in made it a no brainer.2 points

IDK...I watch Star Wars because I want to see "cool Sci-Fi stuff", I have grown deaf to messaging from shows...and I hope to instill that deafness to my kid Same for sports...looking for a role model in pro sports is like looking for a wife at a strip club.1 point

I tend to be the one who saw the infighting in a leaking ship and jumped out before ship was sinking. BUT in hindsight, I should have been the guy selling duct tape to patch the leaking ship and keep it afloat for as long as possible and charged tons of money for it.1 point

The masters of the universe thing might have flied if Smith didn't say it was still centering on He-Man not Teela. He denied that Teela wasn't the main character.1 point

A shoe in for 90210 reboot? The original casts were near (some were over 20) when they played high school freshmen (freshpeople?)1 point

That's a hot take. I have a hard time believe that that's the case. The run wasn't as big as it normally is. I think the run is commencing again, and we'll see some new ATHs in the next few months into the end of the year. We'll see! Either way, I'm not selling my ETH (barring unexpected financial difficulties) until we hit at least $10k.1 point

Now that’s one hell of a crime: https://www.forbes.com/sites/emilymason/2021/06/23/south-african-brothers-disappear-along-with-22-billion-worth-of-bitcoin/ “Two brothers and founders of Cape Town-based cryptocurrency investment platform, Africrypt, have disappeared, potentially making off with $2.2 billion worth of their client’s bitcoin at current prices.” In related news, a tropical island resort in a remote part of the world reported two guests dragging something along the beach. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the men were dragging their balls—the largest in recorded history—through the sand. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Finally got around to opening and starting to build the 42083 Chiron I've had for a couple of years now. Bought it as an opened but unbuilt duplicate on FBM. Started to smell a rat very quickly, and sure enough the set is bogus bricks, but put inside the legit box (plus inner boxes) with the real Lego instruction manuals (so as to allay any initial concerns before buying). The clutch of the bricks is not good, and the sticker sheet looks crap ('Bugati', for example). Absolutely furious. Can't imagine I'll be able to do anything about this given that it's so long since I bought it. Paid in cash of course.0 points
