not exactly LEGO, but close Sold a COBI Titanic NISB on Ebay for $270 shipped. Took a flyer on it on a Walmart clearance for $80...not bad for a 3 month hold I was planning it for personal collection, but faced the likelihood of actually building and storing it (it's huge)...my backlog is about 3 years post-mortem (assuming I live to 100) ...rumors of a LEGO version had me spooked and ofcourse the x3 buy-in made it a no brainer.

Just 4-5 years ago I watched 7-8 shows a week but the numbers gradually decreased. The majority of new shows were not written for me or they were just simply badly written. Even the ones that started as promising shows faltered to blithering mess like GoT & Westworld. I could not justify paying for something that did not (or would not?) cater to me. Now now don't be like that. I worked with someone who started subscribing to Netflix when it was just a rental place. She retired several years ago... Oh wait...

Wish I had no more complaints, but I'm back for more. Basically, made a doctor's appointment for this morning. Told him I was going. He said no. I said I'm going. I went to said appointment. Got a note from my doctor that excuses me through the end of this week (basically to my last day). He wrote back that he's going to mark me Unexcused Absence (e.g., I won't get paid), and that he's going to consult HR about further disciplinary actions. My union said, "oh, no he's not"

We have had a similar conversation with our daughter. It seems one of the main differences in Gen-X folks (like my wife and me) vs. Millinials (like our daughter) is that Gen-X is/was all about casting off labels (“Don’t label me!”), whereas Millinials seem to want to label everything, perhaps in an effort to figure out where they fit in in the world. Gen-X kids didn’t want to fit in. We wanted to be our own thing, unique to ourselves, at least that’s the stereotype. What actually happened a lot of the time was that we were “totally unique”… just like everyone else we liked to hang out with. 😂 It’s a fundamentally different way of thinking and a source of lots of misunderstanding on both sides of the generation line. People are funny. For what it’s worth, I’m completely with you on the whole “let’s just let toys and cartoons be toys and cartoons, not some political statement” thing. Not everything has to have some esoteric meaning. Some things should just be fun. Save the preaching and teaching for church and school. At least that’s how I feel about it. I am not necessarily “right” and folks who disagree are not necessarily “wrong”. (There is zero hate or intolerance in this post. I’m a musician and have lived in an extremely diverse world for most of my life. I just try to be myself and let others be themselves. Not that anybody asked.)

I agree with this mentality 100%. Too much of the primetime coverage from 8pm to midnight is spent on introductions or hosts talking or the Olympic athletes talking to their parents on the phone. I just want to see most of the finals events in a concise format (maybe 1 or 1.5 hours long). The current 4 hour format is good for background watching while you do other tasks but that's about it.

These kids will be at the premiere and they'll look like they're 20, as long as it's taken to get released.

I wish I could break down how much time is spent for actual sports, opposed to NBC self-promoting their Peacock App (I am NOT going to get another streaming service), advertising the NBC affiliate stations you can find the "other" sports outside of the "dirty casual" sports of Swimming, Gymnastics and then Track & Field and then STILL finding allocated time to run Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, while then also showing the past days events of which we already pretty much know the outcome because of their "reporting" Rinse and Repeat for the '22 Winter Games in Beijing

Bricks and Pieces seem to be picking up the pace. I placed an order on July 12th and 13th and received them both yesterday. I can live with 10 calendar days.

Finally got around to opening and starting to build the 42083 Chiron I've had for a couple of years now. Bought it as an opened but unbuilt duplicate on FBM. Started to smell a rat very quickly, and sure enough the set is bogus bricks, but put inside the legit box (plus inner boxes) with the real Lego instruction manuals (so as to allay any initial concerns before buying). The clutch of the bricks is not good, and the sticker sheet looks crap ('Bugati', for example). Absolutely furious. Can't imagine I'll be able to do anything about this given that it's so long since I bought it. Paid in cash of course.
