Thanks. It's a combination of things, really. He took over supervision of my group at the start of the year. He has a reputation of being difficult to work for. A couple of people that were transferred under him in an reorg just up and walked away within a month of starting to work for him. My team and I have held out. But it's gotten increasingly difficult. The best way to describe the situation is like this - this is a man who tries his damnedest to show confidence when he has none. He trust know one, because he believes no one trusts him. He is a poor leader, because he leads poorly. It's a case of "if everyone else in the room is an asshole, maybe you need to look in a mirror." I was teleworking at home 5 days a week until a couple of months ago. And I truly believe he thinks I did nothing in that time. Despite me providing copious records as to what I do on a daily basis, I think he thinks I've done nothing because that's what HE would do given the opportunity. The last couple of weeks I've been told "I don't understand what you do" (despite numerous presentations to tell him what I do), "I don't see a reason for you to even be here." The icing on the cake was his refusal to release me from my current job, so I can transfer to my new job on time. He literally waited until the last possible moment, which meant I would have missed out on transferring agencies for two extra weeks. I had to involve a number of higher ups to nudge him in the correct direction. So, he's retaliating every way he can. Sorry for the rambling on, just very stressed and frustrated. My integrity has been called into question, and I hate that. It really gets under my skin. I just need to let it go, make it through the next 7 work days, and I can move on.

Today, while looking for pizza, I stumbled upon a LEGO store in... Salt Lake City Airport I travel a lot in the summer but have never seen this. Anyone else? The employee said they opened in December 2020 and they are the first store in an airport. I haven’t done the research yet to confirm or deny. They had nothing exclusive but said they’re trying to bring a ski resort set out of retirement. The strangest thing was how many big sets they had. Coliseum, Disney Castle, Harley Davidson, Typewriter, etc. I always bring home something for the kids when I travel, and grabbing a LEGO set before I head home would be a cool option. But who would impulse buy a Coliseum? It seemed like they try to do a Disney move which is get the impulse buy then offer to ship it wherever you’re going. Anyway, thought I’d share a cool find.

Before, defense didn't matter since the USA team could always rely on out-scoring their opponents. W/ the popularity of 3pointers (which can be hot/cold even for the best shooters) that has essentially evened the playing field in terms of scoring...so the team that plays better D can trump talent if the more talented team isn't hitting their 3s.

I was at a leadership conference with a guy from the NY Nicks' head office. He asked if I watched the NBA. I told him "no, because they barely run back and forth down the court until the 4th quarter. And then they only play hard if the game is within 10 pts." I haven't even watched a NBA playoff game in about 10 years. I watched a little this time because I was rooting for the Bucks. But it's the first time in a long time I even cared who won. College basketball, on the other hand, is awesome! Those kids play their hearts out every second they're on the floor. I think USA needs to go back to an Olympic try-out program between college and NBA players. It would be better for the NBA to be humbled by our up-and-coming than on the world stage.

Converting to FBM has definitely been a helpful stress reliever.

Another one that pisses me off too is the unfulfillable units that never become available for a removal, or those units that have been set for removal but for some reasons they remain unfulfillable and not available for removal because they already got set for removal [emoji35]. And then I get the email stating that these units have been unfulfillable for too long and past that date they will be destroyed. One time I went past that Date and they removed the units, gone. I can't understand people were also trying to justify their first 2 losses, saying that US hasn't put there best team out. Almost all of the team has been Allstars / superstars/ All NBA so there really isn't any excuse. Individually they have the best players compared with every other team. I agree that chemistry might be an issue, but it's not like that affect other countries.

A group of vaccinated politicians took a private plane (while not wearing masks) to Washington DC last week. Apparently some of them tested positive for Covid and already infected a few staffers at the Capitol Hills (also fully vaccinated). That is the variant that everyone should be more concerned about. I have rekindled my love for Legos while cleaning up my kids toys and found their collection that is now sitting unused. After that, I had a friend ask if I could help him sell some of his old Lego stuff on ebay and I agreed. So I bought Ed and Jeff Maciorowski's "The Ultimate Guide to Collectibel LEGO SETS" price guide where I heard about the board and it just seemed right to jump on here to say hello and see what everyone in AFOL is up to. Hello!

I got greedy and put in two orders for two each. One set came in outer shipping box, but I got punished for my greed as the other pair just came in original set boxes with a fat shipping label pasted on one...(these deliveries came from a private vehicle, BTW)...tried to pull off the label carefully because a corner was coming off...got halfway and then tore the cardboard. Oh well...these are probably the best short term investment since they are definitely retiring this year (OOS everywhere by early 2022) and are wildly popular due to being compatible with modulars.

Maybe this will distract us…. I’d like to complain about my a**hole of a boss. He just became my boss in January. The good news is I start a new job in less than two weeks. The complaint is the living hell he is making my life right now. My anxiety hasn’t been this high in years. I know the light is at the end of the tunnel, but if there is a petty little thing he can do to make my life hell, he’s doing it.
