The Brother's Brick (no affiliation😋) just posted a very informative article regarding these coins and the VIP system in general. https://www.brothers-brick.com/2021/05/18/the-final-lego-collectable-vip-gold-coin-will-be-available-on-may-20th-news/ Glad theyve heard the complaint of only one reward per purchase. Also still helarious to find out TLG not ready for the volume of traffic on their website. Are they living under a rock?! "Jason said that globally, 10,000 sets were available, which is about four times the typical quantity that the company produces for VIP rewards. LEGO was very surprised at the demand, he says, and noted that the website experienced more traffic as that promotion went live than even during Black Friday." Probably b/c sales on Black Friday were BARF!!4 points

Over the pandemic, I got back into Lego; originally as an activity with my son who is train obsessed. In March, we began finishing our basement in the Boston suburbs and created a 13' x 12' Lego room with a 4 x 4 walk-in closet. It's almost setup now. I put a lot of time into thinking about the table layout: I wanted to be able to eventually display our 16 modulars and three fairground sets with enough room for a train loop around the perimeter. I settled on a modified U shape since it makes everything pretty accessible within a 30" reach. I can detail out the specs if anyone is interested. For now, my son is having fun building his own layout while I'm waiting for a shipment of 16x16 bright green plates from Bricks & Pieces. On our next trip to Ikea, I'm going to get some more storage for under the tables. The other side of the room has storage and a building table. I'm quickly seeing that the closet is too small for the growing number of unassembled sets, some of which are to keep and others as an investment. I snapped some photos before leaving for work but I'm not sure how to upload them since it looks like they need to be hosted on another site. PS - I tried to upload a couple photos from links I generated from Amazon photos, but I kept getting an error. Can anyone point me to the right site to use for photo sharing? Thanks much!3 points

Ok, it may seem hard to believe, since, when I started this topic (in December) we already had a foundation poured. But, it is true, we just got our final inspection on Thursday and have been moving in basically all week. I promised to share progress, so here it is. The first picture of the new Lego area. We have agreed that I have a 9’ x 14’ Area for the city and build desk. The ceilings are just shy of 9 feet. I think I’m gonna pop a time lapse camera up Soon so I can capture The process from raw concrete basement to Finished Lego area.3 points

Definitely a childhood favorite of mine! But, I tried watching it again a couple of years ago, and I had to turn it off after 20 mins. I guess some things are better left as a childhood memory.1 point

I'm going to have to agree with @redcellhere. The new great hall coming out is nice, but the current one is a really fantastic building outside of being in the harry potter theme. It looks and feel like a more adult build to me. Also, there are still 3 sets that will persist that go with it. It's not like there isn't anything that will drive people to it. I don't see any downside to it imo.1 point

I've seen that and I really enjoyed it too, definitely an interesting take on the concept. I don't mind time travel movies, but since my first memorable experience with them was BttF, it helps if they follow those rules. This is a fun watch for what's wrong with bringing characters back.1 point

Will be interesting if they decide to remake even the 5 slot holder. Would be quite ironic if the item with the poorest quality fetches the highest $.1 point

Yes, I agree, I believe Kingpin is more a DD rogue (even though first app is ASM #50). This set is a day 1 purchase for me. I still have a sealed #76057 with Kraven and Scorpion to add to these rouges. Plus the modified one I made a few years ago...with some of the other rogues added. However, could use an updated (bigfig) Rhino.1 point

Well, given that there have been at least 4 different Hogwarts Castle sets of the same general variety and 4 different Hogwarts Express, I do think that there is some past performance that we can look to here. Now, I'm sure you'll say "Well, yes, but those all had at least 1 year in between releases." And my response would be "Sure, but what difference does that make? Why would the gap in between the sets be the critical factor in whether they perform well or not?" I admittedly haven't been paying much attention to the HP sets over the last few months so I may have missed something, but if the "overall better set" that you're referring to is the Great Hall & Chamber of Secrets set, you're not talking about the same set at all.1 point
