Financially perhaps (I could strive to make more money), but there are opportunity costs to consider regarding your life and soul.4 points

Totally awesome! Would probably prefer better gem stone pieces but this is a great display piece.3 points

There was also a T2 in LOST I sorta regret not keeping one of the T1s just cause we’ve always been a VW family (various buses and bugs growing up, wife and I are on our third bug now). Do a T2 in blue like this and I’m gonna just be shut up and take my money2 points

Probably - there even seems to be a large enthusiast community for the T3, which is one of the most ugly and hateful s**tboxes ever to be called an automobile.2 points

If you have a Roth IRA, play in it. If you don't have a Roth IRA, open one. You can play with your money there without worrying about yearly tax repercussions. https://www.investopedia.com/how-roth-ira-taxes-work-47699882 points

I had my first root canal last year. I was stressed. Everything I knew about root canals was from other people, tv, movies, etc... It was a breeze. I've had cleanings and gum treatments that were more uncomfortable. Hopefully all will go smooth. Don't stress.1 point

I only bought one tumbler for resale when I was first getting into lego investing. I held onto that thing and thought to myself “another year and still not worth my time to sell”. Got to the point where the box just seemed to take up more space than it did the previous year. I sold, made minimal profit, I moved on.1 point

Ok, I'll be the first to suggest it.... rerelease so that it is no longer an Ideas set.1 point

Yeah, I agree with KShine here. I'm a small fry who picks his sets like stocks to fund his own collection. It's much safer and easier for me to hunt for some select sets to sit on for a few years. I'm also risk-averse and would rather take a long-term chunk of change than reinvest that money into smaller purchases that may not pan out. If I were actively driving to stores, flipping, had a dedicated Amazon account, etc then I would factor in opportunity cost, but I'm not missing out on something that I had no intention of doing anyways I think both of you are right but your strategy depends on the scale of your business and the time you can dedicate to it.1 point

You're leaving a ton of money on the table by holding for as long as you are. I went back and looked, and I had 8 Tumblers. If I sold those today, I'd gross about $4160 and net somewhere around $1760 after subtracting my cost of goods and selling fees. In reality, I sold those in 2016 for a net profit of $484. So I would have made around 4x as much if I'd held onto those Tumblers for an extra five years. However, over those intervening years, I was able to grow that $484 to $3448 by reinvesting those profits based on the margins I hit each year. Next year, that number will likely grow to somewhere north of $5000 and the following year somewhere north of $7500 and so on. There's nothing wrong with holding sets if that's your thing, but if you're trying to maximize profits, holding sets over the long term is one of the worst things that you can do.1 point

Born in 1984 didnt see star wars movies until the remastered vhs trilogy in 1996. I watched the spaceballs vhs hundreds of times before I ever saw a star wars movie so I did not get all the satire but i loved the comedy. Great movie1 point

Thanks! It's been a helluva climb so far. Current plan is to keep posting & continue the growth. Stop motion can take a lot of time, but I'm able to make enough content in my spare time to post something new almost every day. I'm cracking open the big Harry Potter Castle soon, and think portions of that set will go great with my style of short stop motion builds. I repost most of my content on instagram & have been getting some pretty steady growth over there. If things continue the current overall upward trajectory, I'll probably pivot over to more stuff on youtube. Will also be pinging LEGO on twitter to see about a collaboration soon now that I have some pretty healthy growth and engagement stats to share. TikTok gets a lot of hate, but if you have any hobbies, there are hundreds of other people posting about them on there. The algorithm is scary good at showing you stuff that you like once you start using the app. The LEGO community is pretty massive on there too. I constantly recommend the app to friends and family. It's evolved way past just dancing / lip synch videos.1 point

Requirement? What makes you say that? I haven't been on any social media platforms for ~5 years and haven't missed them at all.1 point

F'ers who start fires. We had a local boardwalk closed for 6 months because someone set fire to a wooden part of it, releasing all sorts of toxic chemicals. It reopened about five weeks ago and I walked by today with my son and saw this: Obviously someone started a fire (accidental or deliberate) and the little playground is closed. At least everything else is ok I guess it was nice while it lasted. Yay LEGO!0 points

My first root canal was on a "hot tooth" that wouldn't go numb because the pain was so severe. They tried novocaine twice and also a shot of marcaine, nothing worked (this was Navy dental so they weren't about to give me any kind of gas). Eventually a male assistant stood above my head and put me in a headlock to hold me steady while the dentist drilled in without it being numb. Worst pain I have ever felt, and I have been unfortunate enough to pass 4 kidney stones. Sent from my SM-G960U1 using Tapatalk0 points
