If you look at all the Disney SW movies, Rogue One is the only one that didn't break the SW universe or insult us like the other movies did. It did fan service but it was cleverly woven into the story line. The DV scene can be written off, but it shows us a glimpse of a younger DV who was truly scary. (Of course, we got the good side version in Mandalorian, Season 2 finale with Luke). In a New Hope all we see Vader do is pick a guy up by his neck and throw him against a wall, force choke a commanding officer to prove a point, and fly the meanest Tie fighter (although we only see it flying in a straight line) in the entire movie. Not much really. Rogue One showed us more of Vader's capabilities. Rogue One lines like K-2SO to Cassian, "Do you want to know the odds she'll use [her blaster] against you? It's high. It's very high," is very funny and is a reference to C-3PO and Han Solo in ESB. K-2SO "I've got a bad felling..." Jyn and Cassian, "Shhh" is also great. K-2SO truly makes the film fun and keeps it moving along. No K-2SO and this movie is very different. Back-pack guy and blind guy are great characters as well. While getting a bag put over blind guy's head, "Are you kidding, I am blind!" Rogue One provides plausible explanations for how the DS was so easily blown up in A New Hope and a plausible explanation for how they received the blue prints to begin with. Introductions of new ship designs (Tie Striker, Krennick's Shuttle, and U-Wing) that are very obviously part of the SW universe. And let's not forget Vader's Castle that fans knew about from concept art and Expanded Universe comics. So to see it in movie form was awesome! AND, let's all admit it - we all wanted to see the "Rebel spaceships, striking from a hidden base, [win] their first victory against the evil Galactic Empire" (A New Hope crawl). No victory comes without a cost. The cost is; everyone we came to know and care about in the movie dies. We knew it was coming because they had to have a plausible explanation why we never see any of these characters in any other SW movies. The Force Awakens, Solo, and the other movies did fan service that was so in our face, as if none of us fans would get the jokes, that it was insulting. Rogue One didn't insult us, didn't break the SW universe, and provided plausible explanations that fit A New Hope. To that end, it worked well as a prequel.6 points

This is one of those times where appeasement was pretty well done . I am no fan of Disney, but that is one of the few things they got right imho4 points

I've already forgotten what I ordered 😶...I know I put in 2 orders...think a vader helmet and Droid Probe and R2 backorder anyway the big decision for me are the UCS Awing and Star Destroyer...if assuming no sale prices down the road then double VIP plus GWP is a no brainer for sets I WILL EVENTUALLY GET. But I think these two (especially the Awing) will hit 30% off on blackfriday close to retirement. It's a gamble to wait as they could become scarce and I may feel luck to see them at RRP. [The reseller voice is telling me to just buy the two big sets now and IF they go on sale get a 2nd of each to resell later and profit! the obvious counter-argument there are the lasers coming out of my Wife's eyes]2 points

Personally, I really loved this about the movie, it was nice to get some new characters, and I think there is a surprising amount of depth to them and to the movie itself. I think this is reflected in the fact that Cassian Andor is getting his own show, and the reappearance of the Shore troopers and the key part the death troopers in subsequent media has been really well recieved. It was definitely fan service, but seeing as the whole movie was about the story leading up to this point I wouldn't quite say that the scene was superfluous. IMO the figure did so poorly because the character itself doesn't translate well to the large figure format -the 'realistic' faces come across as creepy to me, the stormtroopers and helmeted figures work much better. Also the play features on the Jyn figure are abysmal.1 point

I wouldn't say completely, but nothing too exciting about this Jyn big fig. Plenty of characters in the movie that make appearances throughout the franchise.1 point

Those half off B-Wings have appreciated nicely. Sadly, I only have one left from the four I bought. I don't remember the SSD ever being half off though.1 point

Same. Limit 1. Disappointing, might as well get them from S@H with 10% + GWP1 point

While it is an interesting design (and better than anything introduced in SW Ep. IX) it is based on a Disney ride and not a movie or TV show. That's not to say it won't be included in a show sometime down the road but it's a gamble in my book. Since I'm a small fry, I'm not worrying about this set.1 point

Yes. Shocking that LEgo couldnt realize that on their own after the success of friends... Seinfeld will kill it as well. speaking of which, shouldnt that one be out already?1 point

You mirror my thinking as well. What set is not readily available and will most likely not see a substantial sale price. MBS Cantina 75290 is only available via Amazon and LEGO and it has almost been sold out since day one. If it goes on sale, then I'll get another one or two. I agree about the A-Wing. I bet it goes on sale near retirement. IDK about the Star Destroyer.1 point

Three thoughts immediately came to mind looking at this list: 1. I can't help thinking that 90% of these or more have zero shot. Wish Lego would tighten things up a bit, they are just pissing off the community with 57 getting through and all but 1-3 will be rejected. 2. Licenses seem to be choking out "Ideas" as originally intended with at least 26 of 57 (might be more) needing licenses. 3. Maybe some day Lego will understand that there is a pretty healthy demand for castles and other historical themes (Greeks, Romans, Vikings, etc.) in minifig scale.1 point

Or maybe a second round of voting within the 57 winners for the top 3-5? Clearly Lego isnt going to make them all, so we are all served best by having the most popular ones voted on by fans.1 point

The 3-in-1 pirate ship wasn't interesting enough for him, and Barracuda bay didn't look like a pirate ship... so he dug into the closet and decided we are building "houses" now. I haven't built anything in my backlog a couple years. Now I walk into the house after work and I'm told that I need to build things. Next he picked out the "grocery store"1 point

The box is fake, created based on the rumor. This guy made it (or so he said). So the piece count is bogus1 point

Bricklink has set weights as well, quite the helpful reference. As well as box sizes! For example it pegs RC at 1765g which equals 3.89 lbs. Not too far off! I multiply by 1.1 for safety. 75243 it says is 1765g = 3.32 lbs.1 point
