  2. I just received my space coin yesterday and as I am looking at this coin through this thin wrapping paper, I have come to this sudden realization that these VIP coins are really ugly.

  4. I do not know if they are that smart. I bet the main reason is the amount of stress on their websites having 2 popular promos/events at the same time. Their 2 IT interns were only trained to reboot 1 thing at a time: either the store or VIP page. Heavens help them if both pages are down at the same time.

  5. Dubai definitely goes this year. NY, Tokyo and Statue of Liberty: December 2022. Brick Fanatics date leaks look like the real deal so far. Speaking of very old sets, I wouldn't load up on 31058 Mighty Dinosaur this year either.

  11. Hopefully I can complete the LOTR collection at a reasonable cost as these have shot up in value in recent years. So far, I was able to score these this month locally. I paid $60 Canadian each for 9470 and 9471 and $15 Canadian for the 79005. In USD, that's 73 cents all together.

  12. I would think it's easier on the interns...now they can just unplug and plug all the plugs instead of having to figure out which one is which

  15. The last coin isn't coming on May 1st. Lego now say they will give some sort of announcement to people before it drops whenever that will be. Noone needs to wait up now lol. They probably don't want the website to crash with the May the 4th promo.

  16. Once upon a time eBay operated much like a slightly modernized flea market. eBay is trying to get away from that image but a lot of the users actually prefer it that way

  26. That's a metal doll high chair, I remember them from childhood, what you see is rust coming through the thin white paint on the tray there.

  27. After careful consideration, I think it's this one. I always wanted this one, but never had it. Also looks like the hull of a pirate/imperial ship in there.

  28. There's an older castle set in there based on the manual. But the real question is what is going on with that high chair? Looks like the kid had it's last meal in it before graduating to a normal chair, and the parents left the scraps on it as a memory.

  31. A wise person once told me to buy what I know. So I looked around my office (which was filled with Apple computers) so I bought AAPL stock (before the iPod existed). I still own it. That was fantastic advice. Fingers crossed as AAPL has earnings after bell close today.

  32. I have no idea what this means. Reminds me of the quote from Good Morning Vietnam.... "Excuse me, sir. Seeing as how the V.P. is such a V.I.P., shouldn't we keep the P.C. on the Q.T.? 'Cause if it leaks to the V.C. he could end up M.I.A., and then we'd all be put out in K.P."

  33. Saw this lot posted on OfferUp for $100, that Triceratops is from the recently retired JW set - it's going for $30 on it's own on Bricklink, so I went for it. Haven't fully uncrated it yet, but it's definitely got an HP Great Hall, a Garma Mecha Man, and a 75218 X-wing with Biggs. So, a good buy!

  38. I pulled the trigger on an eBay listing for 10212 UCS Imperial Shuttle that was up for ~£119 inc. delivery. No figures or instructions visible, but as it happens I snagged a set of instructions cheaply (~£28) a couple of years ago just in case such a listing appeared. One of the pics was also detailed enough to tell that it was proper Lego and not bogus bricks. It just arrived, and looks like I lucked out here. No sign of discoloration, stickers all seem to be here, and there was even the Luke figure (albeit with the wrong hair). I have the correct hair piece, as well as the correct stormtrooper and most of the Vader figure too (just missing the right head). Looks like for less than £20 I'll have the full set of figures, putting me at about £166 for a complete set (though I'm yet to check through every single piece to make sure of that). Very pleased with this - you'd normally be lucky to get one in that condition for less than about £450.

  39. This weekend I got home on Friday to another round of "daddy build another pirate ship". So we built 70618 Destiny's Bounty. Picked it up on Mercari for $60, with only bags 1-3 open, to allow me to sell our sealed copy. Missing the stickers, but ordered them on Bricklink this morning. All we have left pirate ship wise is the 3-in-1 creator ship, and Barracuda Bay. I assume they will be on deck soon.

  41. I built Pooh. I parted out the minifigs so the set was basically free, but it seems overpriced at $99 for what you get. The instruction book is done nicely with the classic Pooh illustrative motif, although it doesn’t come bagged and mine was ripped. Mix of printed elements and stickers. My main issue is more with Lego in general but this set maybe where they jumped the shark. It used to be neat to build a set with mostly square bricks and see the various building techniques used to make all kind of shapes and nice finished products. This set uses so many specialized elements some larger with only one point of attachment that it just seems too easy to get the end product. It also has one baffling part that I went and watched some live builds to see what others opinions were. If they give R2 a total redesign I think my point will be very evident in that set.

  44. Let's not pretend they did it for the community or the fans. Releasing the coin after the May 4th promo guarantees them that each coin code is used on another order and not combined with the May 4th promo. It also generates extra hype at a different time.
