I've dumped all my THs...that's too much money to have tied up for as long as it is going to be tied up. It may skyrocket after retirement, but you're looking at 2023 before it will ripe to sell. I learned my lesson on that front with the original Death Star #10188...held on to those suckers for way too long.3 points

I'm just gonna continue buying the dips and selling when they rise, banking the seed money and continuing with profits. Bought at 2050 today already sold at 2300. Rinse, repeat. Waiting for the next dip. should be in a few hours. Dangerous? Maybe. I dont know what I'm doing. I just like money.2 points

This site has some basic knowledge to understand bitcoin from a technical standpoint along with a live ticker to the next halving event. https://www.bitcoinblockhalf.com/ Here is some good info regarding the Blockchain structure. https://www.investopedia.com/terms/b/blockchain.asp Im sure a lot of new investors that joined Coinbase last week, just to buy Bitcoin at an all time high, are seeing some big time losses.1 point

Research the 17/18 bear market before you do anything else & also the crashs before that. Bitcoin rallyed & dropped by 92% in 2018. I think many fail to realize that. It's not always rainbows & 10x returns.1 point

I wonder how much say Disney / Lucasfilm had on how many sets LEGO can create for a series. The toy manufacturers tend to have more insights to what is selling. I am not convinced LEGO was the one responsible for the decision to produce just 1 set. This set could easily be split to $15, $30, and $60 sets with a few baddies added. Also, it is a little odd to have a single $80-$90(?) set for a show aimed at kids and teens.1 point

i'm starting to see a packaging trend with the prints. i ordered 6 prints each with a botanical polybag in the last month, all separate orders (can only redeem one with purchase as you know), and every print has come in a nice BOX. did the same with Ulysses. purchased a botanical and got both in a nice box. not sure if you guys are getting boxes when buying a key chain with VIP gifts? would like to know, i'm up to my teeth in botanicals at this point (still adds a lot of color to my old 80's castle sets though).1 point

Absolutely great looking set, with all the main characters (could've been broken into 3 sets really, after throwing in a few bads).1 point

I had a similar problem building a used UCS ISD. Finally after what seemed to be taking a eternity and getting no where fast, I went out and bought a lot more small plastic containers. I then spent a couple hours sorting each of the gray piece types into their own container. This cut down hugely on time in the long run and made the entire building experience much more enjoyable than it was before. Although I have learned that sets with a lot of repetitive greebling building are not for me. Sent from my SM-G960U1 using Tapatalk1 point

Got my Ulysses with the Discovery Shuttle and Space Coin today shipped with the Roller Coaster. Ulysses in excellent shape, but I'm also not far from Romeoville. I'm a little disappointed that they didn't arrive yesterday along with my order from Kohl's of Police Station and Bookshop modulars, just because it would have been a fun load of massive boxes. The modulars from Kohl's arrived in large but not quite large enough boxes. Bookshop got a little squished into it's box, but Police Station was fine. I took advantage of a Honey deal I saw posted on Reddit, getting something like 20% back in Honey gold (redeemable to PayPal) on the sets from Lego plus double VIP and credit card rewards so a real no brainer.1 point

Christian Book Store is on the up and up. My order of 12 Flower Bouquet arrived repacked 3 to a box in nice new Christian Bookstore boxes with a few air pillows. I was a little leery at first as the sets seemed really light and didn’t sound right, but compared them to ones I got directly from lego and all weighed in at 1lb 10.9 Oz I am going to build one as part of a Mother’s Day gift but it must be a lot of small elements as it comes in a much larger box but weighs almost the same as HP Hedwig that has a hundred plus less pieces.1 point

You know what would make a better movie? If in a snap, only 50% of the brickfolios disappear. Then make a movie about going back in time..... But, instead of calling it "Back in Time" we call it "Back to the Future"!!!1 point

This actually concerns me too. Perhaps lego has become too big for its own good. Hot Wheels is facing a similar backlash with their recent change to its RLC program where they no longer cap the number of membership per year. So these old members are going from ordering 2-3 cars per release to having to watch these ebay "resellers" selling what they claimed to be rightfully theirs for $200 after getting an L on these. These older members can't adapt to things selling out in seconds. Basically if you don't click checkout within the first few seconds the moment the clock hit 0, you are basically out of luck as they put you on queue once you put the car in the cart and click checkout. I remember when the first few creator car sets used to come with a miniature versions of the car such as the mini VW camper van and mini Mini Cooper. Mini Cooper was actually the set that brought me out of my dark age although by the time I made the choice to order my first set, the mini mini cooper sold out. I still bought the set for the full price but just to give you an idea, I never try to buy anything for a full price. Honestly I think none of this would've mattered if it weren't for these Covid lockdowns. Most of the Lego sets were available for 20% soon after release from the other retailers so GWP was an incentive for us who were willing to purchase the sets for full price on Day one from LEGO directly. But now, with every set selling out for months and retailers having difficulty keeping items in stock, there are no discounts to be found for most sets at least here in Canada. If you see a set on Amazon.ca for a discount, chances are it is not a lego set. At this point, Double VIP points without any GWP seems like a good deal. So if people outrage over GWP that doesn't even have a special unique piece, perhaps LEGO is thinking why even bother when even when we offer these "free gifts," people are still angry. Perhaps it is the limited nature of these GWP but then I mean how many of these free sets are they supposed to make? LEGO is a business after all. What I am afraid is that they would no longer offer these as a free item. I remember even before Covid, sets like Tumbler and Saturn V were still selling out instantly even without a specific GWP. Already LEGO is making us use our VIP points for these really limited GWPs now. Which is why I find the recent release of the new Creator Porsche set very intriguing. I've purchase most of the Creator Expert car series on day one. And I know some of you don't find this particular set good enough but I thought this set was perhaps the best creator car set aside from Mustang ever to be released. And yet I still haven't bought one because we didn't get a GWP in NA and I don't think I am the only one here. And besides Speed champions sets, these are the only sets that I actually open, build and display as I don't have too much space to display anything. And honestly for Mustang, all it took LEGO for me to buy on Day one was a Keychain and a bumper sticker. And not surprisingly, the Porsche set never sold out once. It may have gone very briefly on backorder once after almost a month of its release but never temporarily out or stock. And I don't know about you but I find car sets designed by Mike Psiaki to be the pinnacle of LEGO design. So it is interesting as to how much these exclusive GWP help with the sale of a new launch. I bet a lot. I think NASA shuttle was received really well at launch and it still hasn't sold out once and is still stocked in my local stores, one of the busiest in NA. I bet if LEGO made the same production run of GWP as the first batch of Porsche or the Shuttle, there is a high probability that these sets would've sold out, which would've still triggered those who missed out. So obviously GWP is a marketing tool but when a marketing tool don't lead to tangible sales but instead leads to animosity towards the company that is striving to provide only the best, what is the marketing team supposed to do? Maybe it was their goal to have things sell out this quickly. Or perhaps not and they will try to scrap these limited GWP specifically tied to a launch of a special set. Perhaps they smell a new opportunity. Honestly I thought they were already overstretched in terms of their selections but they weren't afraid to release VIDIYO sets. And I honestly don't think people were this mad when Batmobile GWP sold out and I think it sold out rather quickly for a really well received GWP back then. I think Yoda lightsaber was the first one of these so called limited GWP in a yellow box that really got people angry. Meanwhile, good sets still sell out without any GWP. Older members at Hot Wheels RLC are already throwing out the idea that they are willing to pay more for a car if it meant guaranteed cars for themselves. I mean there is a definite arbitrage opportunity with these limited releases or with any release at this point. Meanwhile, the LEGO Marketing team is trying many new things and most of these new ventures are turning out to be horrible ideas. So I don't trust LEGO to make a good marketing decisions. I love LEGO's design team which is why I spend a significant portion of my income in LEGO. God I hope LEGO don't increase the price of the set even more to offset the cost of a GWP or worse yet just release it as a new product. I think I am personally ok with spending VIP points for these special gifts because I don't have to buy these expensive set I am not particularly interested in just to get a yoda lightsaber. So after all this if you are still reading this, all I am trying to say is that I am ok with how LEGO is doing with these limited releases... until I can't get 'em. Then all hell break loose.1 point

Zombie Thread Anyway, I recently found the plastic containers used to package the Costco apples to be excellent sorting trays for LEGO. I've tried all kinds (in my recent project of putting together a used UCS MILF. The biggest issue is edging...most of the compartment containers have straight up walls so trying to pick out a small piece w/ "Man hands" can be at best annoying..at worse, scrape against a hang nail. These apple containers are cheap (garbage) so re-use is eco friendly...they are also clear all around w/ minimal apple labeling...and the best is that they are rounded. Some may find the midway curve between the "bowls" negative, but I see them as a net positive as it offers like-pieces to be grouped. Some even have a large "bowl" in the middle for extra large pieces. They take up a bit more room then the conventional trays...but there's the benefit of them stacking. [update on year old MILF project: we are on page 350-ish and have about a third of the top outer panels placed. A very regretful project and ofcourse I would never again purchase a used set over 3k pieces. The greebling is the worse where it takes 30 minutes of piece searching to finish 1-2 pages of directions. And because there's so many different pieces, I am walking around back bent w/ a flash light over a sea of trays and ziplock bags...IMO; THIS is what LEGO was NEVER mean to to be. And it's a bit of a curse in that my boy and I can't "enjoy" LEGO building of other sets until we get this one done...it's a marathon (we started last May...package came May the 4th: which I thought was Auspicious..but in hindsite...it's the deathstar 2...never finished and doomed Palpatine)1 point

DAng...India is in bad shape and its looking like it's going to get a lot worse with a population of 1.3B (many poor) and cases/deaths spiking; it's like an experiment on how nasty of a CV variant can be made. Already headlines of triple mutant variant that's easier to catch, more deadly, and not stopped by vaccines (basically the worse case scenario trifecta). I could see the world closing their borders to India indefinitely. Sorry for those with family there.0 points
