It’s 2:00 am and I’ve just spent the last hour trying to coax my half-breed hound from chasing deer in woods at the back of our house. I’m not sure how she got out of the fenced in yard, but I’ve got a stack on concrete blocks that are going to be put to use come morning to shore up the fence. Also, my dog is a total jerk.7 points

The more I watch the stocks the more I hate myself. I am going back to selling plastic toys on the internet. Much simpler, less stressful3 points

If it makes you feel any better... Around the same time you were doing that, I was outside with my jerk of a dog, who has decided that barking at the possum that likes to hang in our yard at night is a good thing. I live in a suburban development. I’ve got neighbors all around me. That is not Gizmo.2 points

Yesterday I went to downtown disney as they were doing a deal for past annual pass holders while Disneyland is shut. I was able to get 30% off the Disney lego train set in the World of Disney store...Feeling pretty lucky! Its for personal build, I am in the middle of the castle at the moment. Not sure when I will get to building the train... Hopefully in time for Christmas haha!1 point

It makes me wonder how Lego and Disney decide what to release? Is anyone really excited for another R2? I would rather have a ship also. Actually, I just want a Vader's TIE set that is not a decade old.1 point

Yeah I thought that was a picture from the commercial. I don’t acknowledge a second Gremlins movie, but like there are only three Indians Jones films, lol1 point

Doesn't look at all like the Gizmo I once knew. Looks like he went Hollywood and went over board with the plastic surgery.1 point

I agree 1000%. Such a shame. After reading the TLG annual report, it appears they could afford to bump up their use of printed parts. I feel they do not fully understand the impact of stickers on sets targeted for an older audience. I get some kids like the stickers, but there are sets purposefully avoided by me (and certain other AFOLs) because of stickers and to me that equals a loss of REVENUE$, even if it means to add a small cost to the production line. Moving away from stickers would also align with their sustainability efforts, eliminating millions and millions of sticker sheets annually from becoming waste. Im sure they have some complicated formula deriving at their @Max Profit and this may be completely anecdotal on my part, But I just dont see this as a loss for them. If anything it would be keeping up with the competition. (Mega, Cobi, etc all using pad printing).1 point

The mogwai in the commercial is not Gizmo? mKay. The mogwai in the commercial is most definitely supposed to be Gizmo. Edit: I see the confusion now. You think the photo was supposed to be Gizmo. No. Thats the goofy mogwai from the second movie, for comparison. I guess I wasn't clear.1 point

the "complimentary" roadside assistance w/ most insurances are notoriously slow. basically they look for a contractor in your area and it's the lowest priority (ie lowest pay scale) so contractors will take it as a last resort (many will flake out if a better job hits while they are on their way). i will say once they come it's all good; but I've used them maybe a handful from Michigan to CA and the wait estimate is ALWAY off by at least an hour and the typical wait is 2-3 hours (based on my experiences). one time the guy had my truck on his tow, but opted to drop it and go to a better paying job (big accident near by)1 point

I had a score at the local thrift store last week. Long sentimental story ahead. I moved to Japan a few years ago it's been rough not being able to see my family due to Covid. My mother, who always enabled my LEGO addiction, has been taking me to Lego clearance since I was 10 years old. She doesn't know much about Lego but she loves hunting, scanning and only occasionally stashing sets through the aisles. 2020 was the first year we couldn't do that together, and it hit me really hard. On top of that, Lego is really expensive in Japan. REALLY expensive. There's no logic to it, but the smaller sets are usually less accessible than the more expensive ones. I've stockpiled a lot of good US online deals (per you guys) but I've just had to ship them to my parents and hope one day the pandemic ends to build them. So last week, I bike to the thrift store. Japanese thrift stores are great because they take care of their stuff, but they're expensive as all get out. Only like 10-30% cheaper than retail. I don't have much money since I'm just stopping in for Pokemon stuff for my friend. I'm browsing and see a crate on the floor. There is a sealed bag of bricks sticking out, and my LEGO alarm explodes. I pick it up. The entire crate is full of sets. Almost all the Overwatch sets, the entirety of Mario's first wave, the Ninjago set with Akita, a Friends set with a pink narwhal. Knowing Japanese kids, every set seems 100% complete (the extra pieces are even in a small zip in each bag). I am beyond excited. I tally it up. It's a lot but I can do it. It'll fit it in my bike basket. I think. Yeah, my balance is good enough. Wait. WAIT. I don't have enough cash. I had to hobble over to the counter, the only foreigner in either the store or rural Japan, with a year's supply of LEGOs. In my childish Japanese, I have a one-sided toddler conversation with the cashier. It's mostly grunting and pleading with my eyes. She just nods along to my sentences, which scares me that I'm making zero sense. "ATM money machine have here?" "Me cross street, get money from magic money box, okay?" "Watchy watchy Lego pwease? No sell other to manchildren, pwease?" I hand the entire stash over the counter, pray to God she understood me and book it. I jaywalk across the street because I gotta there before the ATM closes (yes, that's a thing in Japan). I am almost hit by a car but I must survive. I dash back, sweaty and war-torn. Every other Japanese person is looking at the deranged foreign animal, grunting and chanting BRICKS BRICKS BRICKS. I seize my prize from behind the counter and fling the cash over, texting my mom that I need to call her and tell her the good news. She thinks I have gotten engaged. I tell her it's better than that. All in all, I paid about 200 for everything. I know that these prices are not great by American standards but this would be at least 1000 dollars worth of LEGO if purchased new in Japan (and that's pretty much the only way to get it here). Now I can build and play and wonder how to get it all back to the states.1 point

New complaint: I went out shopping last night, found a couple half price Ninjago Skull Sorceror's Dragon at Walmart, but then got a flat tire as I was leaving, this is on the Ford C-Max we just got in January. I pulled into a parking lot to check and sure enough the sidewall was already shot, so knowing I needed to replace it anyways, I drove it back a block or so to an auto parts store parking lot (now it's even more shot). Of course since it's a plug-in hybrid it has no spare, maybe I should buy one to leave in the garage. It was crazy windy and tire shops are all closed, so I figured I'd just take care of it this morning. My wife loaded our kid into the car and came to get me and now I've got to take care of that... blah.0 points
