On a somewhat related note, I gave the small orange technic corvette to the father of a buddy of mine who was going through chemo. This man was in his late 70s. He was blown away by the engineering of that simple technic set. He had no idea. He loved building puzzles and I told him Lego was just like a 3D puzzle with instructions. I then loaned him my big technic wheel loader 42030 to build. He made quick work of that set, disassembled it and downloaded the alternate build online to build the second model. I know Lego is working on appealing to the adult market but I think they are missing a massive market in the senior adult community. They have money and the time to do these kind of projects. And combine that with the idea that they could build together with their grandkids or their adult kids and it would be a winning combination. We forget how much the average person does not know about Lego. Or things a bit more unique like Techinc. So many people are blown away when I show them the complexity of the big technic sets.6 points

Next up 76108 Sanctum Sanctorum Showdown. My son started it over Christmas break, and I got sick of it being abandoned.4 points

re: Agatha, I agree, I don't think Agatha is the one who sent the letter or set up the situation for Wanda. If we take Agatha at her word, she was drawn to Wanda after Wanda "used magic" to takeover the town. The SWORD director obviously cannot be trusted but is his ambition limited to rebooting Vision and did he manipulate Wanda to accomplish that task? According to the West Coast Avengers story line, the silver colored Vision is a bit more cold and robotic than the Vision Wanda knows and loves. Also, there was some reprogramming that went on to boot. Last episode this Fri... can't wait. On a side note; between WandaVision and the Mandalorian, these are the only TV shows our kids want to watch with us. It's turned into a family night every time we watch. And for anyone with high school age kids, you know how hard that is to accomplish.3 points

I am in the minority when it comes to this show, but I actually enjoy the episodes with the callbacks to the old sitcoms. I used to watch way too much TVs and it was actually fun to see how those old shows got mixed together and reintroduced to present days. For all I care, this show should have been all parody of old TV shows, with a little hints + a big "to be continued" sign at the end of the series. But I understand the majority of MCU fans are not looking for that kind of show. Needless to say, all these behind the scenes / actual reveals episodes rate rather low for me. Of course the SWORD director obviously has other motives. I am just glad the female scientist was not in this last episode. Her snarky comments were good in low doses, but having her for almost the entire episode was just terrible. There were a lot of small details which I like. For example, the secret Sword project is named Cataract and the rebooted Vision looked like it was covered by off-white paint1 point

Yeah same here, haven’t redeemed the Pirates either waiting for that. Really hard to tell, but I don’t think there are that many of these things produced to begin with. Once the “<50 left” note shows up it takes a couple of days for them to fully sell out, so if they are done in 2 weeks and less than 50 are sold daily, then you are left with less than 1,000 per coin.1 point

I've sold many things on Ebay that were "factory sealed" and won't stop with these.1 point

Did a run to the stores on day 1 after lockdown, nothing much but at the last shop the entire Xmas toys area was 50% off. These included the liebher Excavator, volvo hauler, destiny's bounty and some smaller sets like Anakin podracer and other retired small sets. When I started loading my cart a bunch of retirees noticed and they started to be interested, I told one of them in my broken French these are fairly new sets and a good deal. So me together with 2 other retirees proceeded to arm sweep the shelves which were full when I arrived. May head back tomorrow to pick up the rest of the Technic car transporters at half off, hope they're still there. I'm annoyed with myself for not clearing the boot of the kids stuff before a lego run.1 point

Downtown Disney at World of Disney annual passholders get 30% off including lego. I was allowed to use my discount on the Disneyland Train and Station 71044. It came out to $248.89 including tax. (I had to ask 2 different supervisors to get the discount, so ymmv) The sale is through March 11th.1 point

Turns out it's a much better score than I thought. There are more minifigs than pictured plus many more that need to be pieced together.1 point

I think we're all taking too much of a literal view of this! My kids were playing Poe's X Wing vs Mighty Dinosaur yesterday with an assist from friends Mia on her tractor. If the sets look fun I think they will appeal to kids. FYI Mighty Dinosaur won in the end...1 point

Looking over the latest Brickpicker posts, and I see your post (in condensed form) - it ends with: I will not be reading anything else on this thread and blocking Frank, good luck, I hope you... And in my mind, I expected it would read... get the help you need.1 point

Luckily for @exciter1, most of his local stores still have Atlantis sets on the shelves at 80% off. He's holding out for 90% though. Easy money.1 point

I'm keeping the wrapping on since I think that'll get the most in resell value. I'll make sure to put a disclaimer in there about not knowing the condition of the coin since it's unwrapped and new.1 point

Built the latest version of the ice cream truck recently. I like the build, especially the giant ice cream bar on the roof, though I do wonder if the ice cream cost $1 or $100 based on the Green Tile 1 x 2 with Groove with 100 Dollar Bill Money Pattern. Logically it is the latter. It must be awesome ice cream for $100! One comment, avoid the temptation to put the Ice Cream Vendor minifigure on the Dark Bluish Gray Tile 1 x 4 like I did at first immediately behind the serving window so it falls down easily. It goes on the studs two rows behind that window. D’oh! Comparing it to the pizza van, the ice cream truck is much easier to put the minifigure inside the interior due to easier access with the rear window opening being on a side hinge with a wider opening vs. the up/down hinge system on the pizza van and more crowded interior/inherent space constraints. There is always taking off the roof option though I guess for minifigure placement. Final thought, they are both loaded with multiple play features and fit quite well within any city layout.1 point

You guys do realize that shelf space is not relevant for what stays and goes, don't you? It isn't like Lego execs are sitting around worrying about shelf space in Target when they have multiple online outlets. There are plenty of examples of Lego maintaining numerous large sets at one time, none of which took up any shelf space except in a few select stores that generally started with "L" and ended with "ego". Retirements are driven by internal metrics and considerations invisible to us.1 point
