In my honest opinion at this point, LEGO could do away with the whole "mystery figure" shenanigans. Bad enough one cannot play a video game anymore without some sort of loot crate or 'gacha' gimmick just to come back to reality for the same deal. I understand the "random pack of surprise mechanics" practice has been around for a very long time but even so fatigue wears down the soul over time especially when considering the price of entry just for a single pull at that one-armed bandit. I can still remember the conversations with a couple different store employees at both Target and Walmart on how the Collectable Minifigure packs should simply be transparent. One of those times was after they had to clean up a mess of torn open packs. (And what a mess that was. Good grief.) I imagine these "Bandmates" being in boxes may help to negate the theft somewhat then again who am I kidding. Also more packaging just to get thrown in the trash even if it is made from recyclable material. All day could be spent on "what you get versus what you pay" comparisons between a single albeit unique character against a minifigure along with something to build in the same price range. The $20 "beatbox" set is generally comparable to the $10 Star Wars Planets from years ago. And the $5 "mystery figure" is comparable to, well, pretty much any other readily available polybag though that's nothing new really. With all that said, I still think these are a fun cast of characters with a nice collection of artistic prints. Only the price of admission is difficult to swallow. Then again I am and always has been a penny pinching son of a b***h so there's that.6 points

Come on now, fellas. Ole Ted has been growing out that mullet for months because he knows how amazing it looks on a jet ski. Would you let a little thing like your entire state being without electricity or water during record cold make you pull this bad boy back into shore and leave Cancun?3 points

I found this part very interesting: "The classic Italian sports car without an appealing box and without printed assembly instructions costs 39.95 euros (as of February 18, 2021). For this you get 902 parts. If I compare that with the LEGO 10248 Ferrari F40 from 2015, I find that a lot of money. The LEGO Ferrari cost 89.99 euros at the time, had over 250 more parts, a reasonable box and printed instructions." so my take-away is that it would have costed very similar to LEGO if Blubrixx had paid to use the name "Ferrari" and added a decent box. If not accounting for inflation which may be debatable. Everyone has their own comfort-level in terms of the amount of plagiarism they will accept; that need not be rehashed after 10 pages of it earlier.2 points

I started looking into the Funko. Then started down a rabbit hole of FOMO. So I slowly backed away. I don't need a Cara Dune Funko.2 points

End of year, plenty of time but would take advantage of whatever discounts/promo happen along the way. Official lists are nice, but they aren't everything . . .1 point

Minecraft is not an adult/older kid theme and most expensive sets are purchased for the older demographic. If I remember correctly, Mountain Cave & Village were not big movers. Since they were not big movers the sets were not produced in great quantities and did not have a long run. So you have a very popular theme with a limited supply of these sets in the after market making for high prices which would seem to imply their popularity at the time.1 point

First Preliminary photos of the next HP sets have surfaced online (here). Not overly impressed but the final versions may be more tempting - I don't think they'll have much of an impact on the future prospects of the 75953 & 75954!1 point
