Probably a long time, everyone is buying COBI now, haven't you heard?9 points

This sums it up well. There really isn’t anything more to say on this topic at this point, that hasn’t already been said. It’s getting hot in here, with no new ground to cover, so I’m locking the thread for now.9 points

I absolutely love Mark. Geez Luke has been my guy for 44 years. But Mark is super political and if it wasn’t for my love of Luke I’d have completely ignored him years ago. As others have said, it’s best to keep your mouth shut about politics online. This is definitely a double standard, and not surprising. It’s definitely a virtue signaling. We’ve seen it before from Disney. Edit to add: not saying her opinion was correct. But consistency is key. Either cancel all or ignore all.8 points

Pedro Pascal and Mark Hamill have called Trump supporters Nazis before and faced no backlash whatsoever. This is a double standard. Hell, Disney heavily minimized John Boyega on the Chinese posters for TFA and thanked the CCP in the credits. This is just virtue-signaling from a PR firm.8 points

My biggest concern with all of this is how strong the groupthink culture is. Even if you side with the groupthink, but not strong enough with it, you are attacked. It starts in the school system where kids are trained to take tests and recite verbatim, versus learning how to think critically and how to survive in the world. This is probably the biggest reason why we are homeschooling our kids. Teaching them to think for themselves, to be open minded, and not just spout what they are told to spout. Also, common core is totally incompatible with how real life skills work. My goal is to ensure I raise self sufficient little humans. Should Gina have been saying all the stuff she has said over the months... probably not. Should people be that strongly offended by another person's opinion? Definitely not. She's an easy target as she has a following... but the groupthink doesn't limit attacks to just people with a following. This is aimed at both sides. As a society, people have become so thin skinned that someone they don't even know, having a different opinion than them, hurts their feelings and hits them at an extreme emotional level. Why is this even a thing? Why is self esteem tied to what someone else thinks of you? I grew up being told that I was my own person and that the only opinion that matters about me is my own. Instead of focusing on how we're all the same, more and more we focus on our differences. We surround ourselves with only those who agree with us... and build up our anger towards those who differ with us. It's a sad situation that will just continue to escalate until it hits a breaking point.7 points

The sequel trilogy is more offensive than Gina Carano. Change my mind.6 points

What I can't stand is the hypocrisy on Disney part. Pedro Pascal compared the people who voted for Trump to Nazi and nothing happened to him. Post deleted, end of story. Gina Carano posted something factual* that offended some people, post deleted, but she was fired. *It happened that way in Germany post WW1, neighbors spying on and destroying their neighbors. The rounding up and "re-education" came later. Go to the Holocaust Museum in Washington DC and read the history yourselves5 points

Sold a Bespin Duel for $120 2 days ago, sold another one today for $130. I bumped my price for the next one up to $150.5 points

The Cara Dune minifigure went from $7 to $13 in 12 hours. That isn't dealers jacking up price but rather, from people buying them up. I truly never thought that they would let her go but, just in case, I started buying all that I could find for under $6.50. I'm sitting on over 40 now with 8-10 still enroute. I got lucky. I bought my last two for $7 late last night.5 points

I agree with your sentiment, but it goes both ways. I'm sick and tired of ALL politicians (regardless of party) calling each other Nazis. To do so is to lessen the horrors the Nazis brought on Germany and the world. Trump has been a called a Nazi for four years and not a single thing happened to anyone who did so. They even went so far to say the holding areas for people crossing the boarder illegally were concentration camps. That was very offensive - not just to Trump but to the entire USA to suggest that we as a people were permitting that kind of horrific activity. And yet, not a single thing happened to anyone who said that. If Trump were Hitler, then where are all the dead bodies? Hitler's first move to solidify power was to kill 300 Nazi political leaders (Night of Long Knives - really a weekend). Now Gina Carano flips the argument to connect how Republicans are being targeted like Jews were pre-WWII and she is immediately cancelled? I get that she has made comments in the past but please, there are a whole lot more people making stupid comments online than Gina. She was just on their hot list and they took this as an opportunity to get rid of her. I just want everyone treated the same. Personally, I think they're all out of line and they all need to stop. Re: Carano - I guess she was more interested in her opinion being broadcast than having a job. Her choice. Now where can I find some 75254s? Gotta go...5 points

Ultimately, I think the major conclusion for this topic is that we will have to wait and see within the next couple of years how much of an impact this really has on LEGO, if any (on a large scale at least).5 points

You are grossly misinformed and have no clue what you are talking about. Xingbao and bogus bricks were both owned by Meizhi and shared factory space. And bogus bricks has rebranded itself as King Bricks. You are being willfully ignorant of how organized crime in China operates when it comes to intellectual property theft and copyright infringement. https://customizeminifiguresintelligence.wordpress.com/2019/04/26/bogus bricks-boss-arrested-factories-closed-by-shanghai-police/ Simply because Xingbao operates with a different portfolio does not mean that it has changed its act, nor does it mean that the designs they use are properly licensed. And, no, you cannot legally sell anything that looks like one of Ferrai's 488 anywhere in the EU, including Germany, without first approval from the company. The only exception is the 250 GTO, which the company lost its trademark case and is still under appeal. In point of fact, Ferrai won several cases against toy manufactures in the EU who tried to copy the shape and likeness of its vehicles. https://www.courthousenews.com/ferrari-wins-back-testarossa-trademark-at-eu-court/ https://www.internationallawoffice.com/Newsletters/Intellectual-Property/Denmark/Norsker-Co/Court-Puts-Ferrari-Toy-Cars-in-Pole-Position Again, these are settled legal cases . . . not fan boy YouTube videos.5 points

First off, he wasn't that good (certainly not good enough to deal with the unnecessary headaches). Secondly, he was not simply stating a view, he was bringing it onto the field with him (and making it a part of the game). If she was insisting on changing the filming, scripts, etc, in order to express her views, that would be a problem. People should mostly be able to believe what they want, and say what they want, but when it comes to your work, you should do your work, as the agreed upon rules dictate.4 points

Honestly, 32 owners didn't ban him. First he opted out of his contract with the 49ers, he was never let go. He was set to sign with the Broncos but he turned down the contract. They offered him backup money and he wanted to be paid like a high end starter... which he was not at that point. "You know what, and I said this a while ago: Colin had his chance to be here. We offered him a contract. He didn't take it," Elway said. "As I said in my deposition ... he's had his chance to be here. He passed it." He was also on the brink of a contract with the Ravens until his girlfriend tweeted out a picture of the Owner and Ray Lewis with "Uncle Tom" comparisons. This, while negotiations were ongoing. He wasn't banned, there was just more money in being an activist and playing the victim. He made the right decision for his bank account.4 points

ITT: One group of people confusing freedom of speech with freedom from consequences, another group confusing people who promote intolerance with people who don't tolerate intolerance, another group confusing getting canceled with the free market doing what the free market does, and another group looking at the economics and buying all the sweet at-st sets. Dang, the internet is a magical place.3 points

Yeah, anti-Semitic pogroms, ethnic cleansing, and genocide are in NO WAY equivalent to disliking someone for their political views. You don't want to touch the Holocaust and any sort of false equivalency with ten-foot pole on social media.3 points

If you waited until now, you are way behind. I got all of the cheap US BL and BO ones. I'm over 50 with a few deliveries yet to arrive. It's a shame, too. She really did nothing wrong beyond having an opinion and a sense of humor. I hate it! Damn Kennedy SW "fans."3 points

Figured I would start one for this show. It has been a pleasant surprise watching and we cant wait for Ep 6. 5 really blew me away and makes me really wonder where Phase 4 is going.2 points

I’m not sure why you’ve decided to take this so personal. I have not presented an opinion on Colin in any public forum, so there’s no post to find. No “gotcha” here. I don’t have a particularly strong opinion on Gina’s issue either. I liked the character, and bummed we won’t see her again. But I also arm swept a couple of Walmart’s today for AT-STs because I’m far more concerned with how her minifig will perform then the choices she’s made for herself.2 points

When did folks here get so literal. It's like we are reviewing legal briefs instead of a reseller's forum let's get over the "gotcha" arguments and let's try to give our fellow members some latitude...if the spirit of the post is right, then it's all good. soon posting will be no fun w/ both the spelling police, grammar police, and now the legal board reviewers2 points

I think maintaining boundaries on social media is a major problem for some. Trolling is addictive. Calling out trolls is too. Fame, exposure, instant gratification of a liked post or comments all in the palm of your hands. It’s like digital crack.2 points

"The National Anthem must be played prior to every NFL game, and all players must be on the sideline for the National Anthem. "During the National Anthem, players on the field and bench area should stand at attention, face the flag, hold helmets in their left hand, and refrain from talking. The home team should ensure that the American flag is in good condition. It should be pointed out to players and coaches that we continue to be judged by the public in this area of respect for the flag and our country. Failure to be on the field by the start of the National Anthem may result in discipline, such as fines, suspensions, and/or the forfeiture of draft choice(s) for violations of the above, including first offenses."2 points

I'm not sure anyone cares about the Kaepernick comparison as much as you do. The Pedro Pascal comment is more analogous to the Gina Carano situation.2 points

Let me get this straight, If I agree with you that what NFL did to Kaepernick was unfair and unjust, then you would agree with me that what Disney did to Gina was unfair and unjust too ?2 points

Ok, so update. After a few days of no luck with phone calls, I chatted with an agent. I had 12 disputes on 6 different item numbers. One of them was a fraud case from someone who bought an item of mine, but messaged me to say not to ship it because he didn't authorize the sale, but all the rest were eBay over charging me for things. So anyway, we went through each one and he said that he was putting in a claim for me to get the funds back. $71.35. Said 3-5 business days. I have a reference number as well. I will let you know if/when I get the money back.2 points

Was Cara an essential character? No. She was cool but not essential. But what is being missed here is that Gina was not your typical female actress. She actually represented a different type of woman that you don’t normally see in that kind of role. So Gina led to her own downfall but at the same time, Disney also just cancelled a female representation that isn’t normally seen. I wonder if we’ll see any backlash from that? Probably not, but if Disney replaces her with another female character that is far more “typical” I’d guess there would be some who will be upset.2 points

Most of her comments are just standard twitter stupidity but her comments about Jews were very offensive. I would have fired her. Good in fight scenes but her acting was mediocre at best. They don't need her in the next season anyways. They will need to introduce new characters, especially if the baby is gone. Sounds like she lost a starring role on Rangers. Nope, those millions in Star Wars bucks including toys and the like are not as important as the need to spread fear and hate on social media.2 points

No one has mentioned that the Carano thing is fallout from the Kennedy/Filoni war. Carano is/was everything that the Kennedy camp wanted Rey to be in the sequel trilogy: A strong, female character that is taken to SW fans' bosom and that sells lots of merchandise to the parents of little girls everywhere. Cara Dune's figures were snapped up while Rey's just sat on the shelf. I'm 100% positive that Kennedy was a major force in having Carano removed once twitter snowflakes directed their ire at her. Carano is the modern female Luke Skywalker, the exact thing that Rey was supposed to be but was rejected. Don't forget, the same exact crowd tried to pull this **** on Rosario Dawson.1 point

Trying to see through all the name calling and desperation, I can almost, kinda get what Franks talking about here.(minus the murky marketing decisions by Xingboa) Im sure these events shown havent helped LEGO PR in recent years. Mix in the terrible website infrastructure, high cost and pension for helicopters, we have all been baffled by decisions made in Billund over the years at one time or another. But we come from generations where working was a good thing. Today, work is frowned upon. Not one wants to work a 'job' and be told 'what to do'. They would rather be influencers on social media, traveling in a renovated school bus and making tik tok videos. In todays day in age, pissing off someone can turn out they dedicate their life just to take you down. Even if that means they are left with nothing, even life. Cancel culture in its finest. And it appears Lego has a grassroots movement within Deutschland from ex"fanboys" trying to 'Cancel' them. Well @Frank Brickowski, I say good. Go at them with the sharpest pitchfork you have. Again, this will theoretically be good for the market and customers. How that looks, none of us can say.1 point
