For some reason, profit has somehow been put on near equal terms with "evil" nowadays. Also, I work for a "Non-Profit" hospital that I can say makes plenty of profit, and is also one of the more expensive hospital networks in the nation. Non-Profit just helps them maintain certain tax status. I'm not a tax accountant though, and this is my extremely rudimentary understanding of this. Also, I run what is a definitely For-Profit eBay store. Just a greedy capitalist pig over here.4 points

Let’s please keep the discussion to the Blacksmith. Any more discussion about the German stuff should be in to the German thread. I don’t have time to deal with this right now, so if we continue off topic I’ll just lock the thread.3 points

Why do you not understand that you are preaching to the wrong congregation? If I were just a fan of Lego and building block sets in general then I may very well welcome competition to the market to drive down prices. But, I and most others here I assume, are not just fans. We buy and sell for profit. If there was more competition in the market here in the US and prices dropped, then it would decrease our profits as well and basically kill Lego as a investment. No one here wants that. So no one here is going to be very receptive of your position... learn to read the audience. Many get frustrated by the quirks and baffling decisions by LEGO; but let's remind ourselves...that because LEGO do what they do, and not do is the range of which resellers thrive. If LEGO were to "listen" to the fans and become totally predictable...there would not be a reseller market.3 points

Why is there a bogus bricks employee posting here? Unfortunately I have to see his drivel when you guys quote him as I blocked him ages ago with probably similar incompetence. Go peddle your crap in the dark corner where it is allowed. Your pointy cap will be waiting for you.2 points

this take is dubious...anyone who says that making a set that looks just like the Razor Crest and claims some sort of legal loophole as making it OK is wrong. I appreciate you trying to enlighten members of this forum of the battles lines drawn in Germany...but I can't agree with your take on "legal". IMO, any idea, name, or image that is a copy or a close copy is wrong regardless of legal loopholes. Not saying LEGO is a saint, but the example of using their name (which is copyrighted) to refer to nonLEGO bricks sounds wrong to me.2 points

New bulk, picked this up for $30 on fbm. Had to do some light cleaning and only a few missing pieces nothing critical. MTron sets were very nostalgic. The Unitron sets will most likely go in the personal collection. Star Hawk II 1789 Space Station Zenon 1793 Celestial Forager 6896 Beacon Tracer 6833 Sharks crystal Cave 6190 (missing sub)2 points

As a MOC fan I was a bit disappointed when they announced this set, but the more I see of this set the more I like it as an afol. I'm really interested in getting it to build along with my kid. It would be great fun for the two of us, and hey, maybe it will help get the next generation interested in the theme 😁 I saw a moc that would go great with this, an updated version of the classic Armor shop If there is truly a 3-in-1 castle set coming this summer that would be a day 1 for me. The various castle themes are the most nostalgia grabbing of all and I like the quality of the updates.1 point

A profit driven company. This isn't a non-profit, why would anyone ever assume they aren't profit driven? They have ALWAYS been profit driven.1 point

So, about that LEGO Ideas Blacksmith set...I'm in the middle of the build with my girlfriend and it's a fun set. I may not have the discerning taste as some here but I'm enjoying it. It's the closest I've come to old school castle as I've had quite the LEGO hiatus since my original castle and Robin Hood sets from the 80s.1 point

Brand loyalty counts for a ton in the US, within just about every product category. People are willing to pay extra for a known quality and reputation, even if a generic brand is identical.1 point

Is LEGO over-priced? Seriously, there's THIS discussion HERE? you all lost your minds1 point

I agree, the color scheme is pretty sweet, big fan of the blue, black, trans bright green haha. Makes sense why I also enjoyed Insectoids. Your comment about Unitrons purpose made me do a bit of research. Here's what brickmedia reports, And a precursor to Futuron as well. I enjoyed this added background comment, Shifty Spyrians for sure. The Unitron base is clearly defensive in function.1 point

I think Lego is cheaper relative to income now than it was in the 90s, but it has definitely caught up in the last three years.1 point

Last time I checked, the market decides proper prices. If no one is willing to pay $70 for a 450 piece Star Wars set then Lego would stop making them. Obviously they do still make them, so that reasons that they sell them at that price. You can say Lego is expensive, but if it were truly overpriced then it wouldn't be one of the best selling toys in the world. Your argument doesn't hold water.1 point

I was a kid in the 70's and 80's. You don't need to tell me Lego is overpriced. It always has been. Always.1 point

More specifically, please stay on topic to discussions of this particular sets. You’re welcome to make a thread about those other sets. As long as they are legally produced. We do have a MegaBloks thread.1 point

fair. it is possibly a sophisticated system created as only one of myriad puzzle pieces in a gigantic system which only exists to undermine our precious and divine cultural norms, slowly, imperceptibly even, pushing us all into the arms of Satan and George Soros. or... Anyone care to guess?1 point

I ordered a brand-new Lunar Space Station (60227) from Amazon directly (not a third-party seller or an Amazon Warehouse purchase), and this is what I received. The LEGO box is already open, and a previous shipping label has been cut off the LEGO box. This is an opened return that Amazon sold to me as new. It's unbelievable sometimes.0 points
