It’s important to start Championship Sunday off with a hearty, nutritious breakfast. Let’s see if those Florida boys can handle the cold and snow. GPG!12 points

Lantern Festival same footprint as Assembly Square. They put a lot of expensive pieces and build techniques that you will never see in the finished product when they could have just used some grey 4x2s and decreased the cost. All printed pieces, some dual sided prints and translucent prints. This is a premium set.8 points

So, the house is almost framed, and the basement lego area is looking good... only 2 months till everything is done and we are all back in and the city can begin. Meanwhile, I am also moving our shop, so I had to consolidate all of our "home" lego in to one corner so we can move everything out... Here it is... all of the backlog and sorted parts...8 points

In excitement for the Gardens arriving, built a couple smaller Ninjago sets. Wu's Battle Dragon was my favorite of the 3, I loved the final product. I've missed on discounts for the Skull Sorcerer's dragon so far, I'll hopefully find that one soon. "Thou shall not buy Lego at full retail unless a promo is included"3 points

Ok, it is the holiday lull... unless you chose to ship FBM this year! So, a diversion is in order. I have been planning on building a city for a while, and it is nearly time. To be honest, I resell lego just to fund my lego city account. Our basement is almost done, (I will start building new lego tables in January) and I have an area, not as large as I would like, but much bigger than nothing! So I am building a tiered city, using Eureka Springs, Arkansas as my inspiration It. It is built into the side of an Ozark Mountain, and it very "tiered". I would love to see all of your layouts for inspiration, so post them below! I will try to update my progress on here as I go. Here is a photo of our build area, that will move to be next to the new city. (side note: if anyone has a good strategy to get an 8 year old master builder to clean up after himself... I would love to hear it!)2 points

My goal is to build my city into a coffee table. I wanted something that I could drop modulars into as well as design my own. I also needed a train because what is a Lego city without a train. I'm currently working to modify the Hogwarts express to fit under my arch way. Soon I'll start adding lighting. I am now considering expanding the city and going away from the coffee table idea. I also sell Lego to fund the habit.2 points

How wrong am I on this one! The UCS version was taking ages to appreciate and not getting much until the pandemic. Was little wary about this set and didn’t go deep. Boom! Pandemic and appearance in The Mandalorian just sent this one crazy. Got a few from local store and during BF on discount. Down to my last one. What’s the view on this one going forward. I’m holding for $300 before selling the last remaining one. Sold a bunch for $250.1 point

I bet they’d all look good together. I was *this close* to picking up the Gardens today. Curious about both.1 point

Still love this set. I had picked up a second one to make a huge bridge, but COVID scarcity/profit and a lack of display space “forced” me to sell.1 point

fair. it is possibly a sophisticated system created as only one of myriad puzzle pieces in a gigantic system which only exists to undermine our precious and divine cultural norms, slowly, imperceptibly even, pushing us all into the arms of Satan and George Soros. or... Anyone care to guess?1 point

I had high hopes for this set, remember seeing at legp shop and looked really good. Retired Jan 18, so almost 3 years, and yet bay UK price is less than RRP (csn pick up for £90, RRP was £100). Noticed that there is a bunch of sets that retired 2017 / 2018 that just haven't performed well. Maybe there was too much supply. Even "rubbish" sets that retired in 2019 / 2020 have already outperformed CAGR wise. Interesting times to see what 2021 has in store.1 point

Went to a local LEGO store to get a Bookshop for personal build (first modular for me, at least to keep) and ended up with a couple Lion Dance at 20% as well.1 point

I had one earlier this month. This buyer is nice enough and ask how he can pay for it again. So, I re-list it but change the title to incomplete/for parts so no one else would buy it. I let this buyer knows i will mark it shipped after receiving his/her (re-)payment. (Yes, EBAY buyers are kinder and nicer compare to those Amazon buyers. Maybe this buyer action is typical, normal human actions but my view of human kindness has been tainted by Amazon scammers)1 point

Features a tour down the Lego isle at the 8 min mark. Anyone remember taking a slip of paper to buy your favorite NES game?1 point

I've had a great 'beat the system' moment today. I have a used copy of 7676 Republic Gunship in which the skirt for the Asajj Ventress minifigure has been cut and so needs replacing. The cost of the skirt on Bricklink is crazy high, with the cheapest UK price being £18 (while the entire figure can be purchased for ~ £14 plus shipping - not sure why this is lower). Bricklink will tell you that this skirt is only to be found on this figure, either from 7676 or some Comic-Con exclusive. However, I noticed that Asajj Ventress keychains were available for far less, and that these have the skirt on them. I decided to take a risk, and bought one of these keychains for about £3 plus postage. In theory these keychain figures can't be dismantled, but in practice they dismantle quite easily when they are crushed in a vise (so long as you don't want the parts!). I crushed the innocent figure, and can happily report that the skirt survived intact, and was not irreversibly kraggled to either the torso or legs. I have another 7676 where the skirt isn't missing, so I've checked and the skirt is definitely the right part. Saved myself more than £10 there for a single part. Small win, but feels good.1 point

I finally opened the shipping box and lo and behold. Arrived in excellent condition no shelf wear, no stickers, scratches, dings, etc... Looks like it was just picked up from a LEGO store. Seal code 31R0. Truly bizarre how this ended up in stock after being gone for so many years. Well, no complaints. Should be one my easiest flips!1 point

My wife used to sell cars so she handles the negotiations, I know that's not very manly, but it's part of our technique. We run a good cop/bad cop situation. I buddy up to the salesman, listen to all their BS, act line I'm on the hook, and then suddenly hand off the deal to my wife. She beats them up on price, having a good idea on what the margins should be, and then if we can't get to an agreement, we walk. You have to be willing to walk, they will call. They always call.1 point

In the mean time I am working through some problems/opportunities. We will have trains, and I would prefer that they aren’t just on the first level. But... lego trains and inclines... so, my son and I were testing some solutions for adding a drive motor that would constantly run, but only engage when on the inclines... sort of like a cog railway. Video is too big... you can se it here: https://oneoriginalthing.com/2020/12/16/lego-cog-railway-and-mold-destruction/1 point

Bought 2 a while ago when they were -40%, built them, and modded them. Raised the arc by 2 1/3 to fit a train through, raised the pilars by 3, and took out all the moving parts. Shortened it to 80 studs to fit well into a Lego town, train running in between the modular houses (Pet shop works well here at 16 wide)1 point

Stone Wars analyzed the poll results thus far . . . Still some time to go in the voting but looks like Bionicle is pretty far in the lead. [emoji22] https://www.stonewars.net/lego-news/interim-results-of-the-lego-ideas-90th-anniversary-survey/0 points
