  1. I've had a great 'beat the system' moment today. I have a used copy of 7676 Republic Gunship in which the skirt for the Asajj Ventress minifigure has been cut and so needs replacing. The cost of the skirt on Bricklink is crazy high, with the cheapest UK price being £18 (while the entire figure can be purchased for ~ £14 plus shipping - not sure why this is lower). Bricklink will tell you that this skirt is only to be found on this figure, either from 7676 or some Comic-Con exclusive. However, I noticed that Asajj Ventress keychains were available for far less, and that these have the skirt on them. I decided to take a risk, and bought one of these keychains for about £3 plus postage. In theory these keychain figures can't be dismantled, but in practice they dismantle quite easily when they are crushed in a vise (so long as you don't want the parts!). I crushed the innocent figure, and can happily report that the skirt survived intact, and was not irreversibly kraggled to either the torso or legs. I have another 7676 where the skirt isn't missing, so I've checked and the skirt is definitely the right part. Saved myself more than £10 there for a single part. Small win, but feels good.

  5. I sold three 76889 Speed Champion Ferrari Ultimate Garages this week, (one on Craigslist, $88, and two on BrickLink. $94.99 each). Sold four of them in the last few weeks, after these sets were posted on Craigslist, BrickLink and Facebook MarketPlace) before Christmas with no interest at all. Wish I would have bought more. Did not make a large profit but am freeing up funds and inventory. Why is this set so in demand now and the price rising? Beginning to think it is related to the recent stimulus checks.

  6. Most major appliances are made like ****, regardless of brand. Disposable. Just like Ed said. The more features something has, the more parts. The more parts, the better likelihood something will fail. I buy cheap, spend as little as possible and go in with the mindset "Im paying for 5 years of use", and get the most basic functions. For Fridges, It needs to make ice and keep things cold/frozen. Nothing more. I'll pay $700 to $900/installed/delivered. My most recent Fridge, 2 years old, is a 23 cu.ft. 2 door Frigidaire purchased for $879.97. It's already been repaired 3 times. I hate it. Prior to that we had 22.6 cu. ft. samsungs. 2 door. Same thing. Hated them. Repaired the ice maker several times. Water dispenser. Anything on the door sucks. Next time I'm getting styrofoam coolers and dry ice and calling it a day...

  12. Hi even though investing in Lego has become more challenging, the potential to build anything your imagination comes up with has never been greater. A while ago I decided I wanted to MOC my own house, recycling some profits from the reselling business in a really fun project. It took me a long time - clearly I lack lots of techniques, but I'm happy to show you the current status. I'm on a building break now before I open up the rooms to add some light bricks I bought from a Dutch specialized website. Once they are up and running, I'll probably post all the interiors too... (everything is 'Modular' - at least I learned something from my PS adventures :-)) Take care. ZULU

  17. I have just been trying to figure this out... my current understanding (no one should hold me to this) < £135/€150, no change and no charges > £135/€150, it looks like they take off local VAT and add on an estimated import duty (which looks to be 25%), if it turns out to be less you get a refund. What i can't see is what i should expect import duties to be, may need to phone HMRC...

[sidenote: Jamesbond film may be a nice send-off for the Aston]

  21. Yes it's frustrating. I've been waiting for it to be discounted before buying it, and I don't think there's been a single decent offer since it was released 2 years ago...

  24. I’d love the Gideon cruiser. But I’m preparing myself for another play scale ISD. Why make something new? Seems like Cruiser would be a slam dunk with Gideon, darksaber, Bo-Katan, etc. (all the stars from Mando). They are so far behind on cashing in on that show.

  25. Just had to deal with a similar situation today. I tried calling the eBay customer service number, but got an automated response saying they no longer take calls (at least not on the line I tried). Everything is automated and live chat via the website now. If you go to your seller page, and click on help and contact….just keep scrolling until you get to your issue or go all the way to the bottom of the page and hit "contact us". You'll have to chat with the automated assistant for a minute, but eventually you'll get the option to chat with a live agent. I waited less than a minute, and had my feedback removed in about 5 minutes. I actually like this new option better than the crazy long phone wait times. P.S. You may want to have more than one browser open, because they will ask you for the item number and your username and the buyer's username. I tried navigating all this on my cell, and managed to accidentally disconnect from the chat (but the problem got resolved with the information I had previously provided). Good luck!

  26. So wait, I can give up my VIP points to get these coins and the case instead of actual lego, but I can only do it in 6 separate transactions? and the total equivalent cost will be ~$60 plus the cost of whatever I have to purchase in order to not pay shipping on each of these transactions? Lego really does have evil geniuses working for them... sign me up!

  27. You wonder if that was just one of these inventory glitches. Maybe an n=1 return put into the system. But as long as gwp still there, order away. Speaking of, both ice rink and MBOM still available. How is that possible? There was a decent enough stock to buy at times. Really wonder what they will fetch Q4. I'm a bit worried considering how deep I am on both.

  29. Funny thing about this set and limits. Doing my best to figure out AZ's policy. I ordered my limit when these were $11.99 a week ago. Last night, I was going to order three more, at the $14.99 price, and had no problem adding them to my cart for checkout. I didn't pull the trigger. But today, the price dropped back to $11.99 and the order ban is back in place. BTW, same seller last night and today. I would love to figure out their policy so that it could be used to my/our advantage.

  35. He is saying that is why Disney doesn't re-release movies from their vault... because they have racial undertones. So, now that Lego "has adopted the Disney model of the vault" if we say previous sets have racial undertones they won't re-release... it was a joke A concise explanation devoid of satire. Civil society has returned. Bravo, sir.

  36. No inside information or anything, but my Target did just put up a new plexiglass display case featuring all three of the current helmets this week. I doubt Lego would have sent displays to the stores if they were planning on retiring these anytime soon.

  44. I thought that there was a display forum, but I can't find it on my phone so this one will do. Below is this year's Christmas setup except for the stockings on the wall. We have a larger, fuller tree which presented some problems and I grow tired of stringing lights through the town (Assembly Square is a terrible setup for this). Enjoy!
