  1. are folks buying a bunch of these for..what? along w/ other D2C these are hitting Amazon, Walmart, and Target...not seeing the QFLL potential and ofcourse with the big retailers also come the likelihood of discounts later on.

  2. My mindset of the Ideas line is pretty much the equivalent to automotive Concept Cars. We are shown a wildly outlandish-for-production submission to get the people talking. And then the production version is tamed down, made to work with manufacturing and profit goals and appeal to the general public, not only in looks but also in price.

  3. A regular Sunday shopping session. It seems too easy : - HP books aren't available anywhere online until February - The book of Monsters is out of stock on the shop online - 90€ of goodies for a 85€ purchase... wtf !?

  4. Let's be honest. If Lego had just spit this set out without it coming from the Ideas contest... it would be loved. Without comparing it to the Ideas model, it's not a bad looking set. You all fell in love with your perception of her before truly getting to know her. The makeup came off and you feel betrayed by your own expectations. She will look lovely next to the 10193 Medieval Market Village. Brickset did a pretty good article comparing Ideas submission with their release results: https://brickset.com/article/57087/lego-ideas-original-projects-vs-final-sets

  5. My friend got me hooked on Lego when he gave me a pharaoh minifigure as a side gift with a Rick Riordan book. I started going on "treasure hunts" to identify minifigs we wanted from the blind bags, and now I've gotten hooked on building the occasional Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, or Star Wars set. (My minifig collection has also snowballed in size.)

  6. Was surprised how cool this Architecture White House 21054 was to build. Also nice how the set fits into the box when storing. I did one minor change. The included transparent antenna looked dumb as a water fountain so I used a trans blue element from some Marvel set.

  8. The one I picked up last week from the Lego store was 40R0 so not sure. Finished bag 5 of 15 yesterday, so far neat build and will wait to pass final judgment, but don't see it coming close to the Sea Cow.

  9. With Lego online...almost always...if it seems to good to be true it usually is too good to be true. Sometimes people find great deals 75% off or more as clearance in stores like Walmart. But rarely are those deals found to be legit online in my experience. 90% off online are almost always fake.

  16. Not legit. The real LEGO house is owned by LEGO and does not sell online.

  19. I've thought about this, too. There are many people who have bought sets from me locally who seem unaware that you can even buy directly from LEGO as they are surprised that I have a certain set because they've never seen it in stores. Maybe having this out there in at least Walmart will cause people to want to pick up past sets. I wish I had more of the Lion Dance, especially if this happens.

  20. Not so much a deal but did notice the pink friends boat was available at Target. Believe it’s slated for retirement: https://www.target.com/p/lego-friends-rescue-mission-boat-building-kit-sea-creatures-for-creative-play-41381/-/A-75667062

  21. I think it's the only Star Wars set from 2017 or 2018 still around (oops, I guess UCS MF is still there), so it has to be either retiring soon or significant in some way to upcoming SW stuff, I would think. Either way, I like that one a lot. Unrelated, has like, ALMOST ALL the HP stuff that is retiring totally dried up in the last few days? Jesse

  22. It is a brand new set. It is not retiring. And this is a daily deals thread. Retiring questions go here: Vader's Castle 6% off at Amazon - only 35 remain. https://www.amazon.com/LEGO-Vaders-Castle-Building-Pieces/dp/B07J6F8H3M/ref=pd_cart_vw_crc_1_1/130-3561056-0368408?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B07J6F8H3M&pd_rd_r=8433673b-9dbb-4487-b63a-3efd653df31c&pd_rd_w=6rfF4&pd_rd_wg=2HTWY&pf_rd_p=01004c92-8f40-4f1a-bee8-08cb36dccac2&pf_rd_r=0XFDQGF84C34FQ1AMGK2&psc=1&refRID=0XFDQGF84C34FQ1AMGK2

  24. The spring lantern festival looks great. And I’ve seen pictures of it incorporated with other modulars as a corner unit.

  25. I’d rather not. I don’t need to be reminded about the face masks. I don’t blame LEGO for not producing them, either. It’s gotten political. And it looks like they’re trying to profit off the pandemic.

  26. Bought and built this Bonsai Tree set with my son today. Nice-looking, and if you don't already know, the pink flower pieces are previously designed as a frog.

  27. So now we are officially into 2021 and our 2020 sales sheets are complete, sort of. For those of us that unfortunately used the brickfolio for tracking, can we get some sort of clarification, pretty please? I ask this fully understanding it's probably not issue #1 for the brickpicker team, but some of us are really stuck in a tough spot since this disappeared. I know, hindsight is 20/20, I don't need any "you should have had a separate sheet" crap from the peanut gallery. I do now, but that doesn't help for older purchases. Thanks for all the work on the site, please help those of us unfortunate souls that relied on this function.

  28. Wave one of bulk buy finished. Not a piece was missing, extras are even there. I am missing a zombie & sea monster. Thinking they will turn up in another bag.

  29. Lego basically has two retirement points each year...7/31 and 12/31. A smaller number of sets is retired 7/31 than 12/31, but there's no real rhyme or reason about whether a set goes mid-year or end-of-year. And when a set is retired mid-year, it may disappear as early as April or May, or remain available until later in the year.

  32. LEGO Ideas fans: We'll gladly pay $150 - $200 for this Ideas' submission. LEGO designers: I don't know. I feel like we need to add more color, make it smaller, oh and throw in a small Bonsai looking tree - those are popular right now. If this is what we end up with, it reminds me of what LEGO did to the Flintstone submission. I hope this isn't the way LEGO is going with all future Ideas submissions.
