The new tractor 60287 is on backorder already. That's a good sign. May also indicate that the buyers want a new farm theme! Seperately, and not City theme, but the new Creator Tuk Tuk 40469 went backorder also, I found that interesting. It's fun informally monitoring what goes backorder right after a big drop of new product like this for clues as to what is popular.4 points

While I'll agree the quality of submissions isnt what it once was, I also think AFOL's have a hard time creating sets that arent the whole kitchen sink.2 points

what are the odds that the piece we are just missing on the UCS MILF happens to be part of the advent calendar Day 17? I got the set used back in June and my boy and I started off strong but had gone months with no progress...(I learned my lesson, NEVER EVER EVER buy a set that big used..we spend 90% of the time just finding the piece)...anyway to the seller's credit only missing a couple of relatively common pieces so far. ANYWAY, wife gave an ultimatum...By New Years or it all gets packed up (You can imagine what the incomplete MILF and a sea of sorted parts look like in the middle of a living room...my wife is a saint)...ANYHOO yesterday we discovered a missing piece...and I went thru all out general bins to no avail..and then this am we do our Advent tradition...thank-you Day 17 Harry Potter grand piano...you Ain't ever getting built...but how sweet it is!2 points

One more build by me. A few months ago I stumbled upon some digital renderings made by Reddit user u/brxstr of a Back-to-the-Future DMC DeLorean, which looked fantastic. He/she had (has?) the Stud.io file available on Rebrickable.com, so I downloaded it and planned to build it. In doing my due diligence I found out that the model was originally designed by user Troelskf on Brickshelf, so I want to make sure (s)he gets credit as well. I ended up redoing large parts of the design for several reasons: Part availability and cost. Several parts were very expensive (the F40 windscreen for example) so I came up with alternative solutions for those. Stability and Buildability. As the design has never been built IRL, certain parts of the design looked great in Stud.io, but did not work in the brick. For example, the click hinges for the shaping on the back were originally positioned right in between two clicks, which meant there was an ugly gap. The doors were so flimsy in their original design, they would fall apart when touched lightly. Operability. The doors were not opening in the original design, as there was no tolerance for the swing movement (they looked great opened and closed, but would have to be removed and reassembled to change them from opened to closed. The lid for Mr Fusion could not be opened for similar reasons. Improved looks. I completely redesigned the dashboard, adding more and more detailed instrumentation. I changed the gear lever and created a different flux capacitor design. I modified the hose work around the engine, and redesigned the back section to make it look more like the BttF version, including custom license plate. Generating instructions. The original file was a purely digital design, with no consideration for building the set with real bricks. I spent many hours redesigning the build sequence and creating detailed, step by step instructions. They are almost complete (Isn't it wonderful that if you move a part from one step to another in Stud.io, it decides to undo all the call-outs in the instructions which in turn leads to page layouts resetting?). I still have one change to make but then the 300+ page instructions are ready. Here is the final product. Hope you like it. More pictures in my Flickr album (https://www.flickr.com/photos/129210197@N05/with/50605610828/). Total cost was ~$200 (US), but I had most of the common parts on hand. Would likely be closer to $300 if all 1600+ parts had to be purchased.2 points

The tractor, RV, and the tuk tuk are definitely ones I'll move on at EOL. The new RV looks similar to 60057 which I just sold my last copy of for $75. I've had longer holds with the small city sets, 3+ years, but I buy cash and dont pay for or lack storage so a few years doesn't hurt. I've never successfully qf'd a City set. Maybe that changes next week.1 point

Nice work! I couldn't find many in store. I've been haggling with their online CS to come up with an amicable solution for all the time I've wasted replacing damaged sets the last 30 days.1 point

They had aisle displays for Black Friday, so I picked up a bunch in store. I also had some shipped to store, which I usually have a good experience with.1 point

I think what some people fail to get is that end of the day Lego is a business. I'm sure the designers would love to create 5000+ piece MOC's using rare colours / moulds etc, but from a business and logistical standpointbthis isn't possible. The bean counters will impose a max set price / piece count / new parts and colours etc / impact of production upon other sets. I still think its amazing that lego even offers an Ideas platform, and that people have a chance to say their idea is now available to buy at every lego shop in the world.1 point

Finally cracked open the seals on the 10193 Medieval Market Village I bought on EBay several years ago. Built it and now working on "winterizing" the set so it can go under the tree. As this was the first time I built a 10yr old set "fresh from the factory", a couple of observations: - 2010 Reddish Brown SUCKS. Lots of cracking noises when placing bricks. One rounded window frame broke part of the bottom antistuds off (luckily these are plentiful available) - on first use ever! - Numbered bags for large sets are such a help. I had to dump 1600+ bricks on a table and do a lot of searching, as this set has no numbered bags. - Instructions really fail in color recognition. It was often hard to distinguish Black, DBG and LBG, as well as Tan vs Pearl Gold vs Pink, to the point that at the end I had to break down the chimney on the first house because I had used an LBG 1x4 plate instead of a DBG 1x4. - The big tree build is finnicky. Especially when trying to add the white flowers/blossoms to the tree. That said, the set is really solid and once I do my winterization I think it'll look great in my Winter Village.1 point

Picked up a complete no instructions or box 10262 Aston Martin DB5 for $105 shipped from EBay the other day. Was still looking for one to build and they were out of stock everywhere, I guess I happened to come across the listing just at the right time. Officially it would have been $120 shipped but I used my $15 coupon from switching to Managed Payments to bring the price down further. $5 for a manual from Bricklink, and just missing 1 LBG plate 1x1 (I've got plenty of those). While inventorying the set, I tried this for the first time. Probably also the last time1 point

Time to break out the train. No big Xmas dinner this year or dinner parties so the wife granted the kids the use of the dining room table.1 point

Another year... another kid. Same train. Mrs. Brickvoyeur is building the gingerbread house, while I get to finish up the Bakery and Post Office. Doubtful the Fire Station or Market make an appearance this year. The Cottage will eventually find its way to me for under $100 like all the other old Winter Village sets have.1 point

thanks so much for the set# AND descriptive words...After 2 years. I still don't know a single set# (and hope I never do)...always have to google it1 point

Was quite surprised that Amazon marked my largest order (72) of Frigates as shipped...so I cracked open a Bespin Duel. Created a new display to take to work Monday. The reason for the floating hand is that Vader was in full belief that Luke would join him...so he grabbed it using the force. When Luke agreed to take his father's side Vader reached out to him and said "let me give you a hand, son". Cue the live audience laughter and applause.1 point

May I ask for your kind support (in the form of a "like") of a fellow brick lover's picture + mini-story called "Sewer Surprise" (for the current IDEAS Activity "Scary Photography") : "SEWER SURPRISE" (see picture below - the corresponding story is to be found here) : https://ideas.lego.com/activities/ce48ec35-a928-4946-9052-4ab7c40b9bc0/response/1bcbc316-4121-4495-86bb-4c63f4483ede (You might have to copy&paste the link) Thank you very much for your "like", comments on the Activity's page are also welcome!
