  3. Bought my dream car this summer - Tesla Model 3. Love every minute driving that car. A bit more expensive than $15k though ... but LEGO pays the bills

  4. I have had friends tell me that what I do would make a great news story. I always remind them of the first rule of Fight Club and the first lesson that we got from Disco Stu:

  5. Very nice Phil! We were in the market for our very first fun car last year, and I wanted a Tesla, but my wife hates them. They're everywhere here in the SF Bay Area. We've had practical cars our entire lives (Civic, Accord, Prius, Murano), so we felt we deserved a fun one. We bought a used M4 hard-top convertible and have been loving it since.

  9. 2009 Camry and 2006 Sienna on the driveway, now relegated to waiting for the kids to hit driving age (or Corona to end) in the next year. Great solid cars. But my Tesla (see above) gets all the current love

  10. I drive a Nissan Pathfinder. It’s does what it need to, but I’ve not been *happy* with it since I bought it. It’s all plastic, and those plastic pieces break all the time. Earlier this year, my wife and I got our dream car - a Volkswagen Beetle Diesel Convertible. We used to both drive Beetles years ago, before kids. But she didn’t have a convertible and I didn’t have a diesel. So best of both.

  17. There is always a corner set available. So far the sets have released in this order: Corner, Straight, Straight, Corner, Straight, Straight, Corner, Straight, Straight, Corner, Straight, Straight, Corner, Straight, Straight So a corner building next year. Garage is toast. They're overdue for a double retirement. But AS sells too well to kill it off... so Garage will likely go alone. The buy in on it isn't great, but it will have as long of a life as Brick Bank/Downtown Diner has. Which were only on the shelves ~3 months longer than the Town Hall.

  19. I won't say I haven't considered this on 1 or 2 items; but a plan to buy 11 and then return them is bad form.

  20. Well that sucks. But hopefully they had plans for all four of those ideas, and were just using this to assign number 150.

  21. Welcome... you are now officially hated by a large chunk of the Lego fanbase. I've found that Mos Eisley is pretty easy to move locally, at a higher profit margin. As after fees, shipping, and your buy in... you end up clearing about 15-20% over RRP. You can move these at $450 locally, which is a higher profit and no risk of returns.

  23. Selling small Speed Champions or Brickheadz for $50 - $60 and paying $5-$8 for shipping sounds good to me.

  24. In that context, I meant "buy more than 2". I've found it's much easier to sell through 20 of one set than 2 each of 10 different sets. The challenge is to pick the 'right' set. Buying 2 each of ten is more likely to find a winner, but then you only have 2 of them.

  35. I appreciated hearing this earlier this year, even though it stung at the time. Now I only buy what I plan to keep unless the set is just trashed. I've had really good luck with that recently, surprisingly so. After putting myself in other shoes I saw how it really does put you in a questionable spot to return multiple sets. It actually helps me quite a bit. Meaning that if I'm ever tempted to buy a dozen of a single set, but I have that feeling or false comfort that "oh I can just return em if it doesn't pan out" then that means it's probably not a good buy in to begin with. I was either hoping for a better price or an unrealistic future value. Worst case is not that you can return it, but rather, most Lego sets will rise in value eventually so you just have to hold it until after it retires.

  36. We have a 2010 Prius and LOVE it. No fuss no muss. It's not going to excite you and make the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end, but it's a great practical car. Lots of cargo room and even more when the seats are folded down.

  37. That went fast. I wonder how much of the popular big sets they had. When does Kohl's do its post-Christmas clearance? Now I have some Kohl's cash to burn.

  38. Hi all, Don't know if this is the right place to post this. But I just made my very first sale! Flipped a Mos Eisley for $501 on eBay. I started out with an investment of $2,000 to get my feet wet and explore this as a hobby. I'll report back with all my noobie mistakes and ROI when I've sold them all!

  40. Yeah I ran into this as well. I tried deleting the listing for a while but still no dice. I'm wondering if they have seed prices setup on each person's selling account. This is rather adorable, I ain't even mad. Also 30k in three years... Alert the presses! https://grow.acorns.com/amp/how-to-sell-lego-online/

  49. 2012 Blue Roadster with a nice 2x6 engine block and dual racing exhaust. I can get about 20-25 miles per ounce of imagination. I was thinking of trading up to a modified Sunset Speeder later in the year but haven't completely decided on that.
